一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解The idea that computers have some amount of "intelligence" is not new, says Ralph Haupter, the president of Microsoft Asia, pointing as far back as 1950 when computer pioneer Alan Turing asked whether machines can think. "So it has taken nearly 70 years for the right combination of factors to come together to move AI from concept to reality," says Haupter. It is predicted that the development of artificial intelligence will be the story of the coming generations, not just the coming year, but as 2019 gets underway, you'll find AI will begin to touch your life in many ways according to some researchers."Personal assistant AIs will keep getting smarter. As our personal assistants learn more about our daily routines, I can imagine the day I need not to worry about preparing dinner. My AI knows what I like to eat, which days of the week I like to cook at home, and makes sure that when I get back from work all my groceries are waiting at my doorstep, ready for me to prepare that delicious meal I had been longing for." ---Alecjandro Troccoli, senior research scientist, NVIDIA. "Thanks to AI, the face will be the new credit card, the new driver's license and the new barcode (条形码). Facial recognition is already completely transforming security with biometric capabilities being adopted, and seeing how technology and business are connected, like Amazon is with Whole Foods, I can see a near future where people will no longer need to stand in line at the store." ---Georges Nahon, president, Orange Institute, a global research laboratory."2019 will be the year AI becomes real for medicine. By the end of the year we're seeing solutions for population health, hospital operations and a broad set of clinical specialties quickly follow behind." ---Mark Michalski, executive director, Massachusetts General Hospital.(1)What can we know about AI from the first two paragraphs?A. People didn't expect AI to develop so rapidly.B. The idea of AI just came up recently.C. The concept of AI was put forward by Ralph Haupter.D. It took more than 70 years to turn the concept into reality.(2)Who sees the future of AI doing housework instead of human being?A. Alan Turing.B. Georges Nahon.C. Mark Michalski.D. Alejandro Troccoli.(3)What is Georges Nahon's job?A. Executive director of a hospital.B. President of a research laboratory.C. Chairman of an energy corporation.D. Chief operating officer of a newspaper.(4)How is the passage developed?A. By explaining cause and effect.B. By presenting research results.C. By listing some predictions.D. By describing personal experiences.【答案】(1)A(2)D(3)B(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,通过Alecjandro Troccoli,Georges Nahon以及Mark Michalski对人工智能未来将应用于的领域进行预测和说明。

ActiveThe sports utility vehicle (SUV多用途车辆) was invented in the early 1990s. It quickly became very popular in the United States. There are several r 1 for this. It is larger than most of cars. It can carry lots of people, bicycles, toys, dogs and other things. This makes it popular with families. It also has four doors and a big back door, so getting in or out is e 2 . Since an SUV is taller than most cars, the driver can see above other cars and have a better sight of the road. With a lot more p 3 , an SUV can go faster than most cars. It can also go on very rough roads where other cars cannot go.The SUV is popular with many people, but other people do not like these cars. First, they are larger than most other cars. This means that drivers of other cars may not be able to see the road w 4 . Also, SUVs are very heavy. If an SUV gets into an accident with a small car, the small car may be in s 5 trouble. Another problem with SUVs is that they are very expensive. They are expensive to buy --- about 50 percent more expensive than an average small car. They are also expensive to use, since they use a lot more gasoline (汽油) than smaller cars. There are two ways to solve these problems. One way is to change the way we think about them. Now they are sold as large cars. In the future, maybe they should be sold as trucks. Then people with just a car license could not d 6 them. They would have to get a truck license. These licenses are more expensive and difficult to get, so p 7 fewer people would buy SUVs. The other way to solve SUV problems is to make them differently. Some people think that car companies should make big SUVs smaller and less dangerous. They should also make SUVs with less powerful engines. Then they would not use so much gasoline.1. r_____________2. e_______________3. p______________4. w____________5. s_______________6. d_____________7. p______________Key:1. reasons2. easier/easy3. power4. well5. serious6. drive7. probably/perhapsLibraries give kids a quiet and safe place to read and to learn. Overspending was one thing, but compared to the difficult experience of choosing gifts---running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry or a pair of gloves for Grandma, spending money is nothing.I decided one year not to buy the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so on. I reached for something special just for Justin. The new idea came in an unusual way.Our son Kevin, was wrestling(摔跤)at the junior level. And shortly before Christmas, there was a match against a team sponsored(赞助)by an inner-city church. Well, our boys ended up defeating them. We took every weight class.Justin, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, “I wish just one of them could have won,” he said, “Losing like this could take the heart out of them.” That’s when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought different kinds of wrestling helmets and shoes. I sent them to the inner-city church without leaving my name.On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Justin what I had done and that was his gift from me. During the next twenty years he wrote more than five hundred songs. Many of Gershwin’s songs were first written for musical plays performed in theatres in New York City. These plays were a popular form of entertainment in the 1920s and 1930s. Many of his songs have remained popular as ever. Over the years they have been sung and played in every possible way — from jazz to country. In the 1920s there was a debate in the United States about jazz music. Could jazz, some people asked, be considered serious music? In 1924 jazz musician and orchestra leader Paul Whiteman decided to organize a special concert to show that jazz was serious music. Gershwin agreed to compose something for the concert before he realized he had just a few weeks to do it. And in that short time, he composed a piece for piano and orchestra which he called Rhapsody in Blue. Gershwin himself played the piano at the concert. The audience were thrilled when they heard his music. It made him world-famous and showed that jazz music could be both serious and popular. In 1928, Gershwin went to Paris. He applied to study composition (作曲)with the well-known musician Nadia Boulanger, but she rejected him. She was afraid that classical study would ruin his jazz-influenced style. While there, Gershwin wrote An American in Paris. When it was first performed, critics (评论家)were divided over the music. Some called it happy and full of life, to others it was silly and boring. But it quickly became popular in Europe and the United States. It still remains one of his most famous works.George Gershwin died in 1937, just days after doctors learned he had brain cancer. He was only thirty-nine years old. Newspapers all over the world reported his death on their front pages. People mourned the loss of the man and all the music he might have still written.36.
