从话题上讲，本单元以世界不同地方人们的生活为话题，课文教学通过阅读材料使学生了解不同时区的时间差，以及不同地方人们在同一时间的活动。
从语言功能上讲，本模块训练的是现在进行时态的肯、否定形式和一般疑问句形式，在巩固第一单元所学知识的基础上，本单元进一步加强否定及疑问形式的训练。

2)语法：a. 巩固第一单元学习的现在进行时结构，并扩充现在进行时的否定形式和一般及特殊疑问句结构以及相应答句，能够描述自己或他人正在做的事情。
b. 学会写明信片。
3)技能：通过听磁带能够初步了解文章所讲诉的内容，通过阅读能够快速找出所需要的有效的细节信息。
