中国生活方式变化英语作文
中国生活方式变化英语作文Here is an English essay on the changes in the Chinese lifestyle, with the content exceeding 1000 words as per your instructions. The rapid economic development and modernization of China over the past few decades have led to significant changes in the lifestyle and habits of the Chinese people. As the country has transitioned from a predominantly agricultural economy to an industrial and technological powerhouse, the everyday lives of its citizens have undergone a profound transformation. This essay will explore some of the key aspects of this evolution and the implications it has had on Chinese society. One of the most notable shifts in the Chinese lifestyle has been the rapid urbanization of the population. Driven by the promise of better economic opportunities and a higher standard of living, millions of rural residents have flocked to the country's rapidly expanding cities. This has led to the rise of sprawling metropolitan areas, with skyscrapers, bustling commercial districts, and modern transportation networks. The urban landscape has become a far cry from the traditional rural villages that once dominated the Chinese countryside.Alongside this urbanization, there has been a significant shift in the way Chinese people work and earn a living. The once-dominant agricultural sector has given way to a diverse range of industries, from manufacturing and technology to service-based professions. This has resulted in a growing middle class, with more disposable income and a greater emphasis on leisure and consumption. The changing work patterns have also had an impact on family dynamics and social structures. The traditional extended family model, where multiple generations lived together under one roof, has given way to a more nuclear family structure. This has led to a greater emphasis on individual independence and the pursuit of personal goals, rather than the collective welfare of the family unit.Another key aspect of the changing Chinese lifestyle is the increasing adoption of technology and digital platforms. The widespread availability of smartphones, the internet, and social media has transformed the way Chinese people communicate, access information, and engage with the world around them. Online shopping, mobile payments, and social networking have become integral parts of daily life, reshaping consumer behavior and social interactions. The growing affluence of the Chinese population has also led to ashift in consumption patterns and leisure activities. Luxury goods, international travel, and high-end dining experiences have become more accessible, catering to the aspirations of the emerging middle and upper classes. Traditional pastimes, such as tea ceremonies and calligraphy, have been supplemented by more modern pursuits, like online gaming, fitness activities, and outdoor adventures. However, this rapid transformation of the Chinese lifestyle has also brought about some challenges and concerns. The increasing urbanization has led to issues such as traffic congestion, air pollution, and the strain on public infrastructure. The shift towards a more individualistic and consumerist culture has raised concerns about the erosion of traditional values and the potential impact on social cohesion.Additionally, the reliance on technology and digital platforms has raised questions about privacy, data security, and the potential for social isolation. The fast-paced nature of modern life has also led to concerns about work-life balance, mental health, and the well-being of the population. In conclusion, the changes in the Chinese lifestyle over the past few decades have been profound and multifaceted. The transition from a predominantly agricultural society to an industrialized, technology-driven economy has reshaped the everyday lives of the Chinesepeople, impacting their work, family structures, consumption patterns, and social interactions. While these changes have brought about numerous benefits, such as increased prosperity and access to global opportunities, they have also presented new challenges that the country must navigate in the years to come. As China continues to evolve, it will be crucial for policymakers, businesses, and citizens to find a balance between embracing progress and preserving the core values and traditions that have long defined Chinese culture.。
How Two Key Lifestyle Changes Can Help Boost Your Health Overall
How Two Key Lifestyle Changes Can Help Boost Your Health OverallGetting healthy doesn’t mean having to overhaul your entire lifestyle. Just a couple of key behavioral tweaks can have a domino effect on your other health-related habits, with lasting benefits, a recent study reports.Researchers at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine looked at what it would take to get people to change their bad health habits, including consuming too much saturated fat, not eating enough fruits and vegetables, spending too much time being sedentary, and not getting adequate exercise. What they found was that people didn’t have to attack all four problems at once. Rather, changing just two behaviors — namely reducing the amount of time they spent watching TV, and eating more fruits and veggies — had a ripple effect, leading to a healthier lifestyle overall.(MORE:For Successful Weight Loss, Forget Fad Diets and Pills)“Just making two lifestyle changes has a big overall effect and people don’t get overwhelmed,” said lead author Bonnie Spring, a professor of preventive medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, in a statement. ”Americans have all these unhealthy behaviors that put them at high risk for heart disease and cancer, but it is hard for them and their doctors to know where to begin to change those unhealthy habits. This approach simplifies it.”To determine which changes were most effective, the researchers recruited 204 adults aged 21 to 60, who engaged in all four unhealthy diet- and activity-related behaviors. The participants were divided into four treatment groups, each of which was assigned two lifestyle changes: increasing fruit and vegetable intake and increasing physical activity; decreasing fat consumption and reducing leisure time spent sedentary; decreasing fat intake and increasing physical activity; or increasing fruit and vegetable intake and decreasing sedentary leisure. The participants engaged in their treatment regimens for three weeks and self-reported their progress by logging their data into a personal digital assistant every day and sending it to a coach who communicated with the participants as needed by telephone or email.(SPECIAL:Healthy Foods That Really Aren’t, Nutritionists Weigh In)When people were asked to change just a couple of lifestyle behaviors, it became easier for them to attempt the others. The participants who ate more fruits and veggies and spent less time in front of the TV or computer also ended up consuming less saturated fat without really trying.“Increasing fruits and vegetables was especially confidence-enhancing for folks,” says Spring. ”Once they’d achieved that change, they felt more confident about being able tomake other diet and activity changes.”The authors also say that cutting back on TV had an especially positive effect on the participants’ diet because of “behavior bundling”— when you’re sitting on the couch in front of the TV, you’re not exercising, you’re probably eating junk food mindlessly, and you’re watching commercials for other unhealthy foods.“We think health behaviors are interrelated — they tend to complement or substitute for one another. So cutting down TV removed the cue that usually triggered people to do the paired behavior of snacking on junk while lounging on the couch,” says Spring.(MORE:Watching TV Steers Kids Toward Eating Junk)Not all health changes have the same domino effect on other behaviors. The study found that people didn’t increase their physical activity unless the researchers targeted that behavior directly. Spring says her team will continue researching how exercise can be influenced by other health tweaks. It’s important to note an important caveat: the participants in the study were paid $175 if they stuck with their treatment plans for the first three weeks, so they had an incentive to succeed. When the three weeks were up, the participants were asked to continue logging their data three days a month for six months to earned $30 to $80 per month — but they no longer had to follow the treatment plan to be paid. The researchers say that people reported keeping up their lifestyle changes anyway. ”We thought they’d do it while we were paying them, but the minute we stopped they’d go back to their bad habits,” Spring said in the statement. “But they continued to maintain a large improvement in their health behaviors.”(SPECIAL:What’s The Healthiest Breakfast?)About 86% of participants said once they had made lifestyle changes, they tried to maintain them. The study didn’t track participants’ weight, but the findings suggest that small, low-budget behavioral tweaks could potentially lead to long-term changes that encourage better health and weight loss. The study was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.。

改变不健康的生活方式英语作文雅思
改变不健康的生活方式英语作文雅思全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Changing Unhealthy LifestylesWe've all heard the warnings from our parents, teachers, and doctors about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Eat right, exercise regularly, get enough sleep - it's pretty standard advice. But with the hectic pace of modern life, especially as a student juggling classes, extracurriculars, social life, and maybe even a part-time job, it's so easy to let healthy habits fall by the wayside. Before you know it, you're subsisting on a diet of energy drinks, fast food, and little to no exercise. Believe me, I know because I've been there myself.Up until my senior year of high school, I prided myself on being a pretty healthy guy. I played sports, ate decently by avoiding too many fried foods or sugary snacks, and got around 7-8 hours of sleep each night. But when the intense pressure of applying to top universities set in, all that went out the window. Suddenly I was pulling frequent all-nighters, guzzling caffeine and bingeing on chips and cookies to stay awake whilecramming. Exercise was the first thing to go as I sacrificed my athletic activities to focus on academics. By the end of that year, I was a shadow of my former self - lethargic, overweight, and stressed to the max.It was a huge wakeup call, and I realized I had to make some serious lifestyle changes, not just for my physical health, but my mental wellbeing too. I vowed that when I started university, I would overhaul my daily habits and routines to get back on a healthier track. Looking back now after my first year, I can say with full confidence that I've stuck to that promise and feel worlds better because of it.The first major change I implemented was overhauling my diet. During those high school years, I had fallen into the trap of thinking I could ignore nutrition because I was young and had a "fast metabolism." I quickly learned how flawed that mentality was when I stepped on the scale after arriving at university. Say goodbye to late-night pizza binges and hello to meal prepping! I did a ton of research into healthy recipes that were still tasty and satisfying. Having a fridge and microwave in my dorm room made it so much easier to store prepped meals I could just grab and heat up instead of ordering in unhealthy delivery.I made sure to include a good balance of lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables in every meal. For snacks, I swapped out chips and candy for things like hummus and veggie sticks, yogurt, nuts, and fresh fruits. I saved sugary or fried treats as true indulgences only for very special occasions. When eating out with friends, which was still important for my social life, I learned how to make healthier choices from menus without depriving myself entirely. For example, ordering a grilled chicken salad instead of a burger and fries.Of course, no healthy lifestyle is complete without regular exercise. In high school, sports had kept me active without me really thinking about it. At university, I had to be much more deliberate. I made an effort to walk as much as possible - taking the stairs, walking to classes instead of bussing, etc. But I also invested in a gym membership and made a commitment to go at least 3 times per week, usually first thing in the morning before my day got too crazy. The gym offered a mix of weightlifting areas, cardio machines, pools, group fitness classes, and even some outdoor trails which helped keep my workouts varied and interesting. I'd aim for at least 30-60 minutes of exercise daily through a mix of strength training and cardio. Not only did it help me get backinto shape physically, but it did wonders for reducing my stress levels and giving me more energy throughout the day.Another key component was reprioritizing sleep and making sure I got 7-9 hours per night. Easier said than done with a busy student schedule, but I employed a few tricks to improve my sleep habits. First, I went back to keeping relatively consistent sleep and wake times, even on weekends, to regulate my circadian rhythms. Secondly, I banned screen time for at least an hour before bed and invested in blackout curtains and a white noise machine to keep my sleep environment dark, quiet and cool. Finally, I made an effort to decompress and relax before lights out by practicing light yoga, meditation, or just reading something fun for pleasure instead of more studying. Getting sufficient sleep made a world of difference in my daily energy levels, cognitive functioning, and overall sense of wellbeing.Changing my lifestyle wasn't easy at first and involved a lot of commitment and self-discipline. There were certainly days, especially when academic stress peaked, where I felt sorely tempted to revert to old habits of bingeing on junk food while pulling an all-nighter. But by making my health a top priority and being consistent, those healthy habits very quickly becamesecond nature for me. Now, a year later, I can't imagine going back to how I was living before.I've managed to lose the unhealthy weight I'd gained, but more importantly, I just feel so much better, more energetic, focused, and balanced overall. It's helped me perform better academically while still allowing time for a social life, extracurriculars, and self-care. My advice for any student struggling with unhealthy habits? Seek out accountability partners, plan ahead by meal prepping and scheduling workouts, and be kind to yourself if you slip up because change is a process. But make that commitment and you'll be amazed at how positively it impacts all areas of your life.篇2Changing Unhealthy Lifestyles: A Student's PerspectiveWe've all heard it before – eat healthy, exercise regularly, get enough sleep. It's the standard advice for living a happy, productive life. But as a student, it's easier said than done. Between classes, assignments, extracurriculars, and trying to have some semblance of a social life, healthy habits often take a backseat. The convenience of fast food, the lack of physical activity, sporadic sleep schedules – they all add up to somepretty unhealthy lifestyles for many students like myself. But at what cost? And is it really that hard to make a change? As I look around my university, I see firsthand the impact unhealthy lifestyles can have. Students guzzling energy drinks to stay awake for that 8am class, the telltale signs of the "freshman 15" weight gain, and people generally just looking run down and stressed out. It's not a pretty picture. And this isn't just about appearances – numerous studies have linked poor diet, lack of exercise, and insufficient sleep to decreased cognitive function, increased risk of mental health issues like depression and anxiety, and long-term physical health problems. As students, our bodies and minds are going through crucial developmental stages – can we really afford to treat them so carelessly?I'll be the first to admit that I haven't always made healthy choices. Those late-night pizza binges to fuel marathon study sessions, choosing to sleep in instead of hit the gym, my overconsumption of coffee and other caffeinated beverages –I'm no stranger to unhealthy student life. But over the past year, I've made a conscious effort to change, and I have to say, the difference is night and day. More energy, better focus, improved mood – prioritizing my health has had immensely positive impacts on my life as a student. The key, I've found, is developing sustainable habits that work for my lifestyle. I meal prep healthy lunches and dinners at the start of each week, so I'm not as tempted by unhealthy options. I go to the campus gym with a friend to help keep each other accountable. And I've gotten much better about prioritizing sleep, even if that means passing up social events some nights. It's all about finding that balance and making choices that set me up for success in the classroom and beyond.Of course, making significant lifestyle changes is never easy. There will be setbacks and days where I fall back into old habits. But rather than beating myself up, I try to view it as a journey and celebrate the small wins along the way. If I have aless-than-stellar eating day, I make sure to go for a run to burn off some calories. If I stayed up too late cramming for an exam, I'll篇3Embracing a Healthier Lifestyle: A Journey Toward VitalityAs a student, life can often feel like a whirlwind of assignments, exams, and social commitments, leaving little room for self-care. However, I've come to realize that neglecting our physical and mental well-being can have detrimentalconsequences on our overall quality of life. It's a harsh reality that hit me like a ton of bricks when I found myself constantly fatigued, struggling with focus, and battling bouts of anxiety. That's when I knew it was time for a change – a change that would transform my life for the better. The first step in my journey was acknowledging the unhealthy habits that had become deeply ingrained in my daily routine. Late-night study sessions fueled by an excessive consumption of energy drinks and processed snacks had become the norm. Physical activity was an afterthought, as I convinced myself that the demands of academia left no room for exercise. Worse still, I had developed a sedentary lifestyle, spending countless hours glued to screens, be it for studying or mindless scrolling through social media. It was a wake-up call that forced me to confront the reality of my choices and their potential long-term consequences. I knew that if I continued down this path, I risked compromising not only my academic performance but also my overall well-being. That's when I decided to take action and embark on a transformative journey toward a healthier lifestyle. One of the first changes I made was to reevaluate my dietary habits. I bid farewell to the processed, sugar-laden snacks thathad become my go-to fuel and embraced a more wholesome, nutrient-dense diet. I began incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into my meals, ensuring that I was providing my body with the necessary nutrients to function optimally. It was a challenging transition at first, as cravings for familiar comfort foods lingered, but the benefits soon became apparent. I experienced a surge in energy levels, improved focus, and a general sense of vitality that I had long forgotten.Alongside dietary changes, I recognized the importance of physical activity in maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Initially, the thought of exercising seemed daunting, as I had fallen into the trap of equating it with grueling gym sessions or intense workout routines. However, I soon discovered that even small steps, such as incorporating walking or light stretching into my daily routine, could yield significant benefits. Gradually, I began exploring different forms of exercise, from yoga and Pilates to hiking and。

希望我的经历能启发大家都过上健康积极的生活哦!篇2Title: How I Changed My Unhealthy LifestyleHi, my name is Jenny and I am 10 years old. I want to share with you my story about how I changed my unhealthy lifestyle. It wasn't easy, but I'm so glad I did it!A few months ago, I felt really tired all the time. I didn't have any energy to play with my friends or do my favorite activities like riding my bike or playing soccer. I was always too sleepy and just wanted to lie on the couch watching TV or playing video games. My mom was worried about me because I was getting chubby too.One day, my mom sat down with me and said, "Jenny, I'm concerned about your health. You're not getting enough exercise and you're eating too many unhealthy snacks. We need to make some changes." At first, I didn't want to listen because I liked my lazy lifestyle. But deep down, I knew my mom was right. The first thing we did was look at my diet. My mom helped me understand that junk food like chips, candy, and sodas are full of sugar, salt, and bad fats that are not good for my body. We made a plan to eat more fruits, vegetables, lean proteins like chicken and fish, and whole grains. I was surprised by how yummy some of the healthy foods actually tasted! For snacks, instead of cookies or potato chips, I started eating things like apple slices with peanut butter, carrots and hummus, or a small handful of nuts and dried fruit. It was hard at first because I really missed my old snacks. But after a few weeks, I didn't crave them as much anymore. My mom also encouraged me to cut way back on sugary drinks like sodas and juice boxes. I used to drink several of those every day! Instead, I started drinking lots of water and sometimes milk or unsweetened herbal tea. Water is so much better for you and it makes me feel refreshed. The next big change was adding more physical activity to my days. Before, I barely moved except to go to school or run little errands. My mom signed me up for an after-school soccer club twice a week. At first, I was really tired and out of breath during practice. But soon, I could run faster and longer without getting as winded. I also started riding my bike, going for family walks inthe evenings, and playing active games like tag with my neighbors.Making all these healthy changes was hard work, but my parents encouraged me and I felt my energy slowly coming back. After a couple of months, I had lost some weight and built more muscle. I could finally keep up with my friends again! I felt so much better, happier, and more confident.I'm really glad I listened to my mom and made these healthy lifestyle changes. Yes, it took some effort and patience. But now that I've experienced the benefits of nutritious eating and regular exercise, I never want to go back to my old, sluggish ways. Staying active and eating well has become something I actually enjoy and look forward to. I'm thankful my parents helped me develop these great habits while I'm still young. I know it will help keep me healthy and strong for the rest of my life!篇3大家好!我是小明,今天我要跟大家分享一个关于改变不健康生活方式的故事。

It's something that I think about often, and I'm sure many others do as well. There are so many ways that we can improve ourselves, and it can be overwhelming to know where to start. But I believe that with a little effort and dedication, we can all become the best versions of ourselves. One way to become a better person is to focus on self-care. This means taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional health. We can do this by eating a healthy diet, getting enough exercise, and getting enough sleep. We can also take time to do things that make us happy, like reading a book or spending time with loved ones. When we take care of ourselves, we are better able to take care of others.Another way to become a better person is to be more compassionate. This means being kind and understanding towards others, even when they may not deserve it. We cando this by listening to others, trying to see things from their perspective, and showing empathy. When we are compassionate, we create a more positive and supportive environment for ourselves and those around us.We can also become better people by being more mindful. This means being present in the moment and paying attention to our thoughts and feelings. We can do this by practicing meditation or mindfulness exercises, or simply by taking a few deep breaths and focusing on the present moment. When we are mindful, we are better able to make decisions that align with our values and goals. Finally, we can become better people by learning and growing. This means being open to new experiences, ideas, and perspectives. We can do this by reading books, taking classes, or traveling to new places. When we are constantly learning and growing, we become more well-rounded and knowledgeable individuals. In conclusion, there are many ways that we can become better people. By focusing on self-care, compassion, mindfulness, and learning, we can all work towards being the best versions of ourselves. It may not be easy, but with dedication and effort, we can achieve our goals and become the people we want to be.。

关于生活方式改变的英语作文高中
关于生活方式改变的英语作文高中Changing My Lifestyle - An Elementary School Student's JourneyHi there! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade and I love art class, recess, and reading books about adventures and mysteries. A few months ago, something really big happened that changed my daily life in a major way. Let me tell you all about it!It started when I went for my annual check-up at the doctor's office. I don't mind going to the doctor usually because the nurses are really nice and they always have good stickers to give out after the appointment. But this time, after the doctor measured my height and weight, she had a serious look on her face. She said I was becoming overweight for my age and if I didn't make some changes, I could develop health problems down the road like diabetes or heart disease. Those words really scared me!The doctor explained that I needed to work on having a healthier lifestyle. That meant eating more nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains instead of things like chips, candy, fried foods, and sugary drinks. She said Ishould be getting at least 60 minutes of exercise or physical activity every day too through sports, playing outside, or any kind of movement that gets my heart rate up. Finally, she mentioned it was important to get enough sleep each night since that's when my body recharges. Whew, that was a lot to take in!On the car ride home, I thought a lot about what the doctor said. I didn't want to develop any scary diseases or feel tired and sluggish all the time. I knew I had to make some big changes, but I was really nervous about it. Could I actually give up my favorite snacks forever? How was I going to find the time to exercise for a whole hour after school when I had so much homework? I felt a little overwhelmed. When we got home, I talked to my mom and dad about the doctor's suggestions. I was really surprised when they said they wanted to make some healthy lifestyle changes too so we could do it as a family. My dad admitted he could stand to lose a few pounds as well, and my mom wanted to get back into exercising regularly like she used to before I was born. Knowing I wouldn't be going through this alone made me feel a lot better. That weekend, we all sat down together and made a plan. For meals, we decided to cut way back on processed snacks, fastfood, and sugary drinks. Instead, we'd have more salads, baked or grilled lean meats, beans, low-fat dairy, whole grain breads and pastas, and lots of fruits and veggies. My parents let me pick out some healthy recipes that sounded good to me so I'd be excited to eat them. We went grocery shopping and stocked up on all the good-for-you foods. For activity time, we made a schedule where we'd go for a family walk or bike ride after dinner for 30 minutes. That way I'd get half of my daily exercise just from that activity. My parents also signed me up for a soccer team at the community center so I could run around and get aerobic exercise twice a week at practice. On the other days, I could choose to go for an extra walk, play active games outdoors, or follow an exercise video for kids. Finally, we set a goal for me of going to bed one hour earlier each night at 8:30pm instead of 9:30pm so I could get closer to the recommended 10-11 hours of sleep for my age. My parents decided they would cut back on screen time at night as well so they could get enough sleep too.I'm not going to lie, that first week of changing my lifestyle was really tough! I missed eating potato chips while watching TV in the evenings. Some days I just didn't feel like going on a familywalk because I wanted to relax after school instead. A few times I felt so tired from not getting enough sleep that I had trouble paying attention in class. There was definitely an adjustment period as these new habits started forming.Butafter sticking with it for a couple of weeks, I actually started feeling so much better physically and mentally. I had a lot more energy to get through my days from eating nutritious foods and getting quality sleep. Going for walks and playing soccer put me in a better mood and helped me release any stress I felt from school or friends. Even my parents noticed they felt happier and more alert from living healthier. It's been a few months now since we committed to a healthier way of living, and I'm so glad we made this change! I've lost some weight and my clothes fit better. I run faster and can keep up with my friends more easily during activity time. But most importantly, I feel good about myself by taking care of my body.I'll admit, there are still days when I crave junk food or want to skip my exercise routine to watch TV instead. But then I remember how lousy I felt before and how much better life is when I make healthy choices. My parents have been really great about encouraging me and reminding me why it's important tostay active and eat nutritious meals. We celebrate our little victories together, like walking an extra lap around the neighborhood or trying a new healthy recipe we all loved. My advice to anyone looking to make a lifestyle change is this: set small, specific goals so you don't get overwhelmed. Prepare yourself for slip-ups, and don't get discouraged - just get back on track at your next meal or activity time. Ask your parents, teachers, or friends to get involved and support you. And most of all, be patient with yourself because building healthy habits takes time. But I promise it will be worth it! Making this change has given me so much more energy, confidence, and an overall better outlook on life.Well, that's my story! I've got soccer practice now so I need to lace up my cleats and run some laps. Thanks for reading about my journey to a healthier lifestyle. Maybe I'll inspire some of you guys to get moving and eat those veggies too! Until next time, stay healthy my friends!。

When my clock alarms the next morning, I have to struggle for a long time to get up. Most of the time, I feel tired before class is over. So sometimes I can’t catch up with my teacher, because I can’t focus my mind. And I don’t like vegetable. Mostly I only eat meat. I am a little fat maybe because of that. I realize my lifestyle is unhealthy. I need to change it. I can’t sleep so late in the evening and should eat more vegetable. 大多数时间,我在下课前我就很累了。
所以有时我都跟不上老师的进度,因为我无法集中精神。
我还不喜欢吃蔬菜。

lifestyle changes may ease heart, stroke risk We hear the message about how to live a healthy life so much, That is hard to imagine there's anyone who hasn't heard it.
Dr.Patrice Desvigne Nickens is at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which is a part of the National Institutes of Health.国立卫生研究院
"Heart disease is preventable,
Healthy lifestyles can reduce risks.
Dr.Desvigne-Nickens says there are three key elements to living
a healthy life.
"Don't smoke, maintain a healthy weight, exercise,"
Ignoring even one of these increases the risk for cardiovascular disease, [内科] 心血管疾病;冠心病
which includes heart attack and stroke, the number one killer around the world.
So Canadian researcher Koon Teo at Ontario's Hamilton General Hospital wanted to see if people changed their lifestyle after one of these events.
He followed patients in high, middle and low-income countries.
"People who had heart disease or stroke, about a fifth of them, still continued to smoke and only a third of people had regular physical activities,
Just about two-fifths of them ate what we determine as a healthy diet."
And it didn't seem to matter where they lived.
"The low-income countries had the worst diet,
but if you look at people from high income countries, they did not do that much better,"
Only about four percent of the patients who participated in the study followed the recommendations.
"All countries need to look at this finding to try to improve and close the gap about healthy living, 缩小差距
particularly in people who had already had the stroke or a heart attack,"
National and international efforts to get people to monitor their blood pressure and reduce salt consumption are gaining momentum. 发展加快;势头增大
Both reduce the risk for heart attack or stroke.
In the U.S., Janet Wright, of the Million Hearts campaign, gives this advice.
"Make one small change to your health and do it daily,
It could be adding a fruit or a vegetable.
It could be building your way up to 150 minutes of exercise each week."
The Cleveland Clinic has a program for its employees that has helped them lead healthier lives.
Here is clinic's Dr.Michael Roizen,
"The key is to start, gradually increase.
Buy a pedometer record it daily,
Try to walk 10,000 steps a day."
And if you take medication for high blood pressure, take it as prescribed.
"Every day of an uncontrolled blood pressure is damaging the heart, the kidneys, the eyes and all of the blood vessels putting the individual at high risk for heart attack and stroke,"
These experts stress that the power to prevent heart attack or stroke is in your hands.
Professor Teo's study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.。
