Final Report
At the end of this semester, I got familiar with much literature knowledge about novel and poetry. In this paper, I am going to summarize some of my acquisitions in the whole period.
I tried to prepare for every part of the article, the setting, plot and characterization. As an example, the Trifles, which was written by Susan Glaspell, is a conflict story. Before we studied in class, I searched the dictionary for some difficult word, with their synonym and antonym. And then, I read the story to comprehend the standard and length of the story, and then I read again to handle the main idea of the story. Naturally, I would get interested in the story and enjoy the details. During the second reading, I’ll underline the meaningful sentence and expression. To be honest, some profound literature is too hard for me to enjoy, therefore, I will get the translations on the internet. It can help me get the scene which the author wants to express through the novel better. The next, I read the text once again. I can get the symbolism and metaphor directly, summarizing the style of the article. These literature knowledge has improved me a lot to enjoy the other article that I will meet in my reading.
I think highly of the reading skills, so I often study the titles after I have the novel, I’ll think weather the origin title is suitable for the novel. If not, I will create my own headline for the novel. For example, the Story of An Hour, I read the story and take my own role in the character, I can feel what she thought at that time. I want to have my own understanding in the novel.
Thinking and writing is of great importance. With the guide of Ms. Liang, I can master the text from different perspectives. I’ll memory the deep thinking of the author and attach it to my critical thinking. I also managed to approach literary with feminism in some articles.
In my Reading Journal and Response Paper. I have summarized each article in detail. I have submitted the Target words and quotations﹑Responses and associations﹑Questions and opinions﹑Creative entry.Those parts of the assignments guide me to find the main idea. Alternatively, I can create my own description of the article. As long as I put my heart in my reading, it is proved to be efficient.
All in all, I have learned much more than I thought before, and I hope I can make more progress in my study. Since we have chosen English, we should put our heart in it.。
