I was really excited because I love science!For my experiment, I decided to see what would happen if I put a piece of paper into a cup of water. It might seem like a simple experiment, but I thought maybe something cool or unexpected could happen.First, I had to gather all the materials I would need. I got a clear plastic cup and filled it about halfway with water from the sink. I used a regular 8oz cup. Then I tore a piece of paper out of my notebook. It was just a normal piece of lined notebook paper.With my materials ready, I began the experiment. Slowly and carefully, I placed the piece of paper into the cup of water. I made sure to put it in vertically so it wouldn't get wet right away. Here is what happened next:At first, when I put the paper into the water, nothing happened. The paper just floated there on top of the water. I thought maybe that would be it and that nothing else would occur.But then, after about 30 seconds, something started to change. The paper began soaking up the water! Slowly, itbecame more and more wet and heavy as the water crept up the paper.
