Hitch is a 2005 romantic comedy film starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James. The film is directed by Andy Tennant and written by Kevin Bisch. Smith plays a professional matchmaker, who makes a living teaching men how to woo women.
Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Will Smith) is a professional "date doctor", who coaches other men in the art of wooing women.
While coaching one of his clients, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), who is smitten with celebrity Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), Hitch finds himself falling for Sara (Eva Mendes), a gossip columnist who is determined to unmask and ruin the so-called date doctor after one of his "clients" (who Hitch refused to work with) had a one-night stand with her best friend. However, where Albert and Allegra's relationship continues to progress, Hitch finds that none of his tried and tested methods are working on himself, despite being a master of the art. After Hitch is unmasked, he and Sara break up, and Allegra and Albert follow suit (along with other women who realize their husbands had been coached by Hitch). Finally, Hitch confronts Allegra and convinces her to reunite with Albert, before reconciling with Sara. In the process, he makes the startling discovery that he doesn't really do anything significant, and that most of his customers (particularly Albert) really were successful by just being themselves. In the end Albert and Allegra get married and celebrate their marriage with Hitch and Sara, who are back together again. Hitch, reflecting on love's unpredictability, addresses the audience in the last line, "Basic principles? There are none."
The production budget was $70,000,000. Eva Mendes was given the role opposite Smith because the moviemakers were worried about the public’s reaction if the part was given to a white or an African American actress. Robinne Lee's character was originally offered to bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, but could not take the role due to scheduling problems. The working title of the movie was The Last First Kiss, referring a line Hitch delivers to Albert: "This could be her last first kiss." Parts of the movie were filmed in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, at Columbia University.

Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens: Basic principles: No matter what, no matter when, no matter who, any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet. Just needs the right broom. You cannot use what you do not have. So if you're shy, be shy. If you're outgoing, be outgoing.
Man: I'm not outgoing.
Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens: That's okay. She may not want the whole truth, but she does want the real you. She may not want to see it all at once, but she does want to see it. So tonight, when you're wondering what to say, how you look, whether or not she likes you, just remember, she is already out with you. That means she said yes when she could have said no. That means she made a plan when she could have just blown you off. So that means it is no longer your job to try to make her like you. It is your job not to mess it up. The shoes are hot. Give her plenty of space. If she lingers at a photograph, move on. But maintain the visual. All right now, supposed to be 64 and clear tonight. So when you leave the club, walk a little. Ask her what she thought about the show, what was her favorite photograph, why that one. And when she answers, don't be looking at her mouth. Don't be wondering what she looks like naked. Listen to what she is saying and respond.

The porous soil and moderate warmth are excellent for the cultivation of sugarcane, which was historically the island's main occupation. Today, sugar and molasses remain important products and are the country's largest exports. The healthful and equable climate makes it a very popular tourist resort, and tourism is the country's largest industry. Manufacturing (largely chemicals, electrical components, clothing, and rum) and banking are growing sectors of the economy. The United States, other Caribbean islands, and Great Britain are the main trading partners.
Although it was probably originally inhabited by Arawaks, it was uninhabited when the English expeditionaries first settled there in 1627 (1605, according to local tradition). Barbados remained a British colony until independence was granted in 1966. During the 19th century it was the administrative headquarters of the Windward Islands, but in 1885 it became a separate colony. It later was a member of the short-lived West Indies Federation (1958–62). The island became an independent associated state of the Commonwealth of Nations in 1966. The bicameral parliament consists of a 17-member Senate appointed by the governor-general and a 17-member elected House of Representatives. The Democratic Labor party (DLP) held power from 1986 until 1994, when the Barbados Labor party (BLP) won a legislative majority; Owen Arthur became prime minister. Arthur and the BLP retained power after the 1999 and 2003 elections.

Urban myth 都市传奇
直译过来就是“都市传说”，通常都被称为 urban legend，这个名称来源于一部电影《Urban Legend》（都市传奇），说的是美国新英格兰地区的普德顿大学流传着一个都市传奇：三十年前，校内有一名异常心理学教授在史丹利大楼疯狂杀死六名学生后自杀。

校内兄弟会的学生每年都举办狂欢派对纪念这件事。

三十年后的今天，校园突然发生一连串的凶杀案，一位很有主见的学生娜塔莉认为凶手是根据都市传奇做案手法杀人，她的好友布兰黛、新闻系学生保罗和爱玩闹的戴蒙都说这纯属巧合。

可是当事情发展下去，他们却不得不怀疑，而他们也都成为凶手的下一个目标。

An urban legend is a kind of modern folklore consisting of stories often thought to be factual by those circulating them. (The term is often used with a meaning similar to that of the expression "apocryphal story"). Urban legends are not necessarily untrue, but they are often distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized. Despite the name, a typical urban legend does not necessarily originate in an urban setting. The term is designed to differentiate them from traditional folklore in preindustrial times.
Urban legends are sometimes repeated in news stories and, in recent years, distributed by e-mail. People frequently allege that such tales happened to a "friend of a friend"—so often, in fact, that "friend of a friend", or "FOAF", has become a commonly used term when recounting this type of story.
The urban legend phenomenon is well-known in other languages. In the Netherlands, for example, a tale about monkey meat gave rise to the term "broodje aap verhalen"
(i.e., monkey sandwich stories).
Some urban legends have survived a long time, evolving only slightly over the years, as in the case of the story of a woman killed by spiders nesting in her elaborate hairdo. Newer legends tend to reflect modern circumstances, like the story of people ambushed, anaesthetized and waking up minus one kidney, which was surgically removed for transplantation.
Many urban legends are framed as complete stories, with plot and characters. Urban legends often resemble a proper joke, especially in the manner of transmission, but are much darker in tone and theme.
The compelling appeal of a typical urban legend are its elements of mystery, horror, fear or humor. Many urban legends are presented as warnings or cautionary tales, while others might be more aptly called "widely dispersed misinformation", such as the erroneous belief that a college student will automatically pass all courses in a semester if one's roommate commits suicide. While such "facts" may not have the narrative elements of traditional urban legend, they are nevertheless conveyed from person to person with the typical elements of horror, humor or caution.
Much like some folk tales of old, there are urban legends dealing with unexplained phenomena such as phantom apparitions.

Because who’s wanna believe there's a man out there that can sit down beside a woman he doesn't know and genuinely be interested in who she is, what she does, without his own agenda?
Sara: I wouldn't even know what that would look like. So what would a guy like that say?
Alex: Well, he'd say, "My name is Alex Hitchens and I'm a consultant."

The Martini is one of six basic drinks listed in David A. Embury's classic The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. Over the years, the martini has become perhaps the most well-known mixed alcoholic beverage. H. L. Mencken once called the martini "the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet", and E. B. White called it "the elixir of quietude".

Gibson
Although Charles Dana Gibson is most likely responsible for the creation of the Gibson martini (where a pickled onion serves as the garnish), the details are debated and several alternate stories exist. In one story, Gibson challenged Charley Connolly, the bartender of the Players' Club in New York City, to improve upon the martini's recipe, so Connolly simply substituted an onion for the olive and named the drink after the patron. Other stories involve different Gibsons, such as an apocryphal American diplomat who served in Europe during Prohibition. Although he was a teetotaller, he often had to attend receptions where cocktails were served. A similar story postulates a savvy investment banker named Gibson, who would take his clients out for the proverbial three-martini business lunches. Dirty Martini
A popular version of the martini is the "dirty" martini in which olive brine is used in place of, or alongside, vermouth. It is also generally garnished with an olive. Additionally, the term "dusty" martini is a dirty martini that has only a fraction of the usual olive brine.
