高考英语一轮Unit3TheInternet新人教版必修第二册

第一部分必修第二册UNIT 3Ⅰ.阅读理解A(福建厦门双十中学2021届高三下新高考模拟)Last week, Education Secretary Arne Duncan declared a war on paper textbooks. “Over the next few years,” he said in a speech at the National Press Club, “textbooks should be abandoned. ” In their place would come a variety of digitallearning technologies, like ereaders and multimedia websites.Such technologies certainly have their place. But Secretary Duncan is threatening to light a fire to a_triedandtrue_technology that has been the foundation for one of the greatest educational systems on the planet. And while ereaders and multi media may seem appealing, the idea of replacing an effective learning platform with a widely hyped(炒作) but still unproven one is extremely dangerous. An expert on reading, Maryanne Wolf, has recently begun studying the effects of digital reading on learning, and so far the results are mixed. She worries that Internet reading, in particular, could be such a source of distractions for the students that they may cancel out most other potential benefits of a Weblinked, e learning environment, and while it’s true that the hightech industry has sponsored considerable amounts of research on the potential benefits of Webbased learning, not enough time has passed for longitudinal (纵向的) studies to demonstrate the full effects. In addition, digitalreading advocates claim that lightweight ebooks benefit students’ backs and save schools money. But the rolling backpack seems to have solved the weight problem, and the astonishing costs to equip every student with an e reader, provide technical support and pay for regular software updates promise to make the etextbook a very pricey choice. As both a teacher who uses paper textbooks and a student of urban history, I can’t help but wonder what parallels exist between my own field and this sudden, wholesale abandonment of the technology of paper.1.What does the underlined part “a triedandtrue technology” in Paragraph 2 refer to?A.Foundation. B.Paper.C.Ebooks. D.Platform.2.What is the drawback of textbooks according to the passage?A.Its price. B.Its efficiency.C.Its content. (共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)AAccording to Dong Yaohui, it’s difficult for the government to fully protect the Great Wall. “In Funing County, there are only 9 people in the department of cultural relics, but they have to go on a 142.5 km tour of inspection. It is definitely impossible to take good care of the Great Wall by themselves,” Dong said.Dong also stressed that the counties along the Great Wall are relatively poor. Most of the counties surrounding the Great Wall in Zhangjiakou are national assigned poverty counties. Local governments cannot afford to repair and protect the Great Wall, so only invest in the parts which can bring in revenue from tourism. To some people, developing tourism is an effective way to protect the Great Wall. Xu Guohua, the head of Banchangyu Great Wall Development Company, said that the destruction from the villagers has stopped after development. Meanwhile, tourists know which part of the Great Wall is endangered.“You have to admit that the development of the wild Great Wall brings rules and regulations to both the villagers and travelers. In recent years, the protection of the Great Wall in our scenic spot became much better than the undeveloped parts in our county,” said Xu.However, many point out that it is impossible to develop the whole Great Wall into tourism sites. And the development may bring more visitors to the endangered Great Wall, but not all the tourism development companies are committed to protecting the Great Wall. Instead, some of them only focus on the income from tickets, regardless of the intrinsic value (内在价值) of the Great Wall. How to protect the disappearing Great Wall? Obviously, it is an important test for Chinese society. Just like what Dong Yaohui said in a recent article, “the Great Wall belongs to everybody of China. The duty of protection of the Great Wall not only belongs to the government, but also to the common people. The most urgent goal for us is to arouse the enthusiasm of the public to protect the Great Wall.”1. What can we learn from the first paragraph?A. Funing County has a small population.B. The Great Wall in Funing County is not well protected.C. Funing County has a great number of cultural relics.D. The length of the Great Wall in Funing County is about 142 meters.2. According to the passage, some tourism development companies _________.A. don’t think the Great Wall needs to be protectedB. believe the Great Wall can be well protected if they have enough moneyC. make rules and regulations to both the villagers and travelersD. do not do their duty to protect the Great Wall well3. The underlined word in Para. 2 is closest in meaning to _________.A. economic benefitB. natural valueC. environmental destructionD. public enthusiasm4. Which of the following is NOT true based on the passage?A. It’s completely vital for us to protect the cultural relics.B. Developing tourism is an effective way to protect the Great Wall.C. The Great Wall may totally disappear in the near future.D. Only with combined efforts can we succeed in protecting the environment.5. What is the author’s purpose in writing this article?A. Encourage the government to promote tourism.B. Arouse people’s awareness of protecting the Great Wall.C. Tell us that the Great Wall belongs to everybody of China.D. Urge the government to develop economy of our country.[助读词汇]fully adv. 完全地cultural relics 文化遗产inspection n. 视察;检查stress that 强调relatively adj.相对地afford to do 负担得起invest v. 投资tourism n.旅游业endangered adj. 濒临灭绝的regulation n. 章程undeveloped adj. 欠发达的focus on=concentrate on 集中注意力income n. 收入obviously adv. 显而易见地BHow many historic churches, pubs or buildings are there in your city? Are they worth preserving? Or are they just a waste of space? There are arguments for and against spending money on historic buildings.Dangerous staircases. Uneven floors. A lack of IT equipment. The problem with many old buildings is that they’re old —and extremely expensive to modernize. Take the case of the Combination Room in Cambridge University, it was set up in 1347 and was initially used for lectures. Later, it became the Regent House —the university’s parliament. It’s of great historical value and cultural interest. However, it doesn’t meet accessibility standards for disabled people. As a result, a lift needs to be installed, but not everyone is happy ab out this. “It would destroy the symmetry (对称性) of that beautiful room,” said one user.In general, modern buildings don’t have this type of problem. They can be set up according to the latest environment standards, with draught proofing to help reduce carbon leaking and save energy. They can also be made wheelchair accessible, and they can be designed to ensure the biggest comfort and space. Anyone who’s been to a modem cinema, theatre or concert hall recently may understand the difference between the new buildings and older ones, which tended to have smaller seats, less space.Very often, there’s money to be made by knocking down old building especially if they’re in city centers. So, the biggest threat to many historic buildings comes from developers. One of Croydon’s oldest pubs, The Rose and Crown, is a perfect example of this. A property development company has recently been granted a permission to change the 18th century building into flats, much to the disappointment of many local citizens. “The bar is full of unique features and perfect examples of a traditional London pub. It really would be truly tragic for this Grade Ⅱlisted building to be turned into soulless (呆板的) flats,” said a spokesperson for English heritage. So, are these buildings really wo rth preserving? “Traditional buildings such as churches, town halls, schools and hospitals give England its character,” the spokesman added. “This is about guaranteeing the future of the past. It’s about making the past part of our future. This is why we e xist.”1. Who are not accessible to the Combination Room in Cambridge university without a lift?A. The old.B. The disabledC. The young.D. The deaf.2. Which of the following advantages of the modern buildings is NOT mentioned in the passage?A. Reduction of carbon leaking and energy saving.B. Wheelchair accessibility.C. The biggest comfort and space.D. Installation of IT equipment.3. The writer takes The Rose and Crown as an example to show us that .A. more flats are needed by citizensB. people are in favor of rebuilding historical buildingsC. developers benefit from the historical buildingD. the bar is full of unique and traditional features4. What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?A. We should protect the traditional buildings and learn from the past to enrich the future.B. Traditional buildings stand for the past of the city so that we should be reminded of the past.C. Traditional buildings are so precious that we should live in them to memorize the past.D. Traditional buildings are so rare that we should make full use of them.5. What would be the best title of the passage?A. How to modernize old buildings.B. Combination Room, the treasure.C. AIf only things were that simple. Supporters of the so-called Stone Age diet argue that farming practices introduced about 10,000 years ago are harmful to human health, and that we shouldn't eat grains or food made from milk, such as butter and cheese. Instead, they say, we should only eat plenty of lean meat (瘦肉) and fish, with fruit and raw vegetables on the side. The idea, also called the caveman, or hunter-gatherer diet, has been around for decades and was discussed at a meeting of the British Society for Allergy, Environmental and Nutritional Medicine.According to Lauren Cordain, a nutritionist at Colorado State University who presented the idea to the meeting, those following the meatcentered menu “lose weight and get healthy by eating the food you were designed to eat”. He says there is increasing evidence that a caveman diet can prevent and treat many common western diseases. Studies of islanders in Papua New Guinea who still live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle show they rarely suffer from heart disease. But other nutritionists argue that cutting out whole food groups such as grains is just not a good idea.“I woul d recommend anybody to eat lean meat and raw vegetables,” says Toni Steer of the MRC human nutrition research unit at Cambridge. “But what you're asking people to do is cut out a food group which is good for your health.”Archaeologists say it's not even clear exactly how much of the various foods people actually ate during the Stone Age.“There was no one Stone Age diet; diets of the past varied greatly,” says John Gowlett, an archaeologist at the University of Liverpool who also attended the conference. Prehistoric people in Africa probably ate less meat than many people think, he says, while those in the northern, icy areas were forced to eat only whatever animals they could catch.“I'm not convinced that we know what Stone Age man ate,” agrees Andrew Mil lard, who researches ancient health and diet at Durham University. “The evidence we have only suggests the meat component of the diet. We get bones from animals they have eaten but we don't get the remains of any vegetables they have eaten because they rot (腐烂) away.”1.To improve your health, Cordain suggests ________.A.losing weight firstB.eating less meat and fishC.going on the Stone Age dietD.eating more fruit and vegetables2.What is Steer's attitude towards eating grains?A.Doubtful. B.Cautious.C.Tolerant. D.Supportive.3.In Millard's opinion, the evidence for the Stone Age diet ________.A.shows nothing about the diet's vegetable componentB.tells us about ancient people's cooking methodsC.has proven to be reliable and convincingD.agrees with his research resultsBThe effects of coffee consumption on health have long been a subject of conflict and uncertainty. Since the 1980s, some have spoken out against coffee as it’s harmful to health, while others have welcomed coffee for its supposed benefits to health.According to a scientific report, mild coffee consumption, three to five cups per day, can be taken as a healthy dietary pattern, along with other healthful behavior. The report also says that coffee consumption helps reduce the risk of heart disease and it protects against Parkinson’s disease.According to Dr. Donald Hensrud of Mayo Clinic, high consumption of coffee has health risks. Dr. Hensrud mentions the dangers of high coffee consumption for people with a certain illness that slows the breakdown of caffeine in the body. Some studies said that drinking two or more cups of coffee daily can actually increase the risk of heart disease in these people.According to conclusions from a recent study led by Dr. Gregory Marcus, a doctor from the University of California, San Francisco, daily moderate consumption of caffeine, less than 4 cups, is not associated with these issues.Until the scientific community reaches a general agreement on the effects of coffee consumption on human health, it will be up to the individual to decide whether the benefits of drinking coffee are greater than the risks. When informed of these possible health benefits and harm of drinking coffee, Harwood, a high school student stated, “Even though there might be some negative effects of drinking coffee, for the most part, coffee drinking sounds good for health. Not to mention I need coffee to stay awake.”4.What is the people’s attitude towards the effects of coffee on health according to Paragraph 1?A.Disapproving.B.Tolerant.C.Doubtful. D.Mixed.5.What does the underlined word “moderate” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?A.Personal. B.Slight.C.Reasonable. D.Heavy.6.What can we infer about Harwood?A.He’ll keep on drinking coffee.B.He loves his high school life.C.He often falls asleep in class.D.He has some health problems.7.What would be the best title for the text?A.Why People Love Coffee?B.How Coffee Affects Health?C.The Culture of Coffee DrinkingD.The New Findings of Heart DiseaseCKrubera Cave in the western Caucasus Mountains is the deepest known cave in the world. An international team prepared to descend into Krubera. The team members hoped to be the first cavers to reach a depth of 2,000 meters, brought five tons of equipment and other necessities with them, and established camps at key locations along the route. They worked for up to 20 hours each day.In the third week, progress was blocked at 1,775 meters by a sump — a cave passage filled with water that gives cavers few options. There are basically three techniques available: dive through it, empty it, or go around it. Gennadiy Samokhin dove to the bottom but was disappointed. “No chance to get through,” he said. Searching for a way around the sump, Garcia Dils risked entering a waterfall of near freezing water and discovered that his dry suit had holes in it. “The water was so cold I lost the feeling in my fingers,” he said later. He, too, was unsuccessful. Finally, two teammates found a way around the sump through a tight passage they called the Way to the Dream. The team was exhilarated. The passage led to yet another sump at 1,840 meters. After a short test dive, Samokhin emerged, smiling. There was a promising passage, he reported. But it would have to wait. After nearly four weeks, with supplies running low, the team had run out of time and would have to return to the surface.Four weeks later, a team of nine Ukrainian cavers led by Yuri Kasjan went back to Krubera. Following the path opened by the previous team, they reached the sump at 1,840 meters relatively quickly. After much searching, a pit (坑), later named the Millennium Pit, was discovered that allowed them to pass the 2,000 meter depth. More pits and passages led them to 2,080 meters, a。

Reading (20 points)A.The behavior of a building’s users may be at least as important as its design when it comes to energy use, according to new research from the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC). The UK promises to reduce its carbon emissions (碳排放〕by 80 percent by 2050, part of which will be achieved by all new homes being zero-carbon by 2021. But this report shows that sustainable building design on its own --- though extremely important --- is not enough to achieve suchreductions: the behavior of the people using the building has to change too.The study suggests that the ways that people use and live in their homes have been largely ignored by existing efforts to improve energy efficiency (效率),which instead focus on architectural and technological developments.‘Technology is going to assist but it is not going to do everything,’ explains Katy Janda, a UKERC senior researcher, ‘consumption patterns of building users can defeat the most careful design.’ In other words, old habits die hard, even in the best-designed eco-home.Another part of the problem is information. Households and bill-payers don’t have the knowledge they need to change their energy-use habits. Without specific information,it’s hard to estimate the costs and benefits of making different choices. Feedback (反应) facilities, like smart meters and energy monitors, could help bridge this information gap by helping people see how changing their behavior directly affects their energy use; some studies have shown that households can achieve up to 15 percent energy savings using smart meters.Social science research has added a further dimension (方面〕,suggesting that individuals behavior in the home can be personal and cannot be predicted --- whether people throw open their windows rather than turn down the thermostat (恒温器) for example. Janda argues that education is the key. She calls for a focused programme to teach people about buildings and their own behavior in them.31. As to energy use, the new research from UKERC stresses the importance of ______.A. zero-carbon homesB. the behavior of building usersC. sustainable building designD. the reduction of carbon emissions32. The underlined word “which〞in Paragraph 2 refers to “______〞.A. the waysB. their homesC. developmentsD. existing efforts33. What are Katy Janda’s words mainly about?A. The importance of changing building users, habits.B. The necessity of making a careful building design.C. The variety of consumption patterns of building users.D. The role of technology in improving energy efficiency.34. The information gap in energy use ______.A. can be bridged by feedback facilitiesB. affects the study on energy monitorsC. brings about problems for smart metersD. will be caused by building users’ old habits35. What does the dimension added by social science research suggest?A. The social science research is to be furthered.B. The education programme is under discussion.C. The behavior of building users is unpredictable.D. The behavior preference of building users is similar.BWhat makes a gift special? Is it the price you see on the gift receipt? Or is it the look on the recipient’s face when they receive it that determines the true value? What gift is worth the most? This Christmas I was debating what to give my father. My dad is a hard person to buy for because he never wants anything. I pulled out my phone to read a text message from my mom saying that we were leaving for Christmas shopping for him when I came across a message on my phone that I had locked. The message was from my father. My eyes fell on a photo of a flower taken in Wyoming, and underneath a poem by William Blake. The flower, a lone dandelionstanding against the bright blue sky, inspired me. My dad had been reciting those words to me since I was a kid. That may even be the reason why I love writing. I decided that those words would be my gift to my father.I called back. I told my mom to go without me and that I already created my gift. I sent the photo of the cream-colored flower to my computer and typed the poem on top of it. As I was arranging the details another poem came to mind. The poem was written by Edgar Allan Poe; my dad recited it as much as he did the other. I typed that out as well and searched online for a background to the words of it. The poem was focused around dreaming, and after searching I found the perfect picture. The image was painted with blues and greens and purples, twisting together to create the theme and wonder of a dream. As I watched both poems passing through the printer, the white paper coloring with words that shaped my childhood, I felt that this was a gift that my father would truly appreciate.Christmas soon arrived. The minute I saw the look on my dad’s face as he unwrapped those swirling black letters carefully placed in a cheap frame, I knew I had given the perfect gift.36. The idea for a special gift began to form when the author was ____.A. doing shoppingB. having a debateC. reading a messageD. leaving for Wyoming37. The author’s inspira tion for the gift came from ____.A. a photo of a flowerB. a story about a kidC. a call from the motherD. a text about Christmas38. The underlined word “it〞in Paragraph 3 refers to a poem by ____.A. the fatherB. the authorC. William BlakeD. Edgar Allan Poe39. The author made the gift by ____.A. searching for the poems onlineB. drawing the background by handC. painting the letters in three colorsD. matching the words with pictures40. What is the main purpose of the passage?A. To show how to design images for gifts.B. To suggest making gifts from one’s heart.C. To explain how computers help create gifts.D. The UK promises to reduce its carbon emissions (排放)by 80 percent by 2050, part of which will be achieved by all new homes being zero-carbon by 2022. But this report shows that sustainable building design on its own — though extremely important- is not enough to achieve such reductions: the behaviour of the people using the building has to change too.The study suggests that the ways that people use and live in their homes have been la r gely ignored by existing efforts to improve energy efficiency (效率),which instead focus on architectural and technological developments.‘Technology is going to assist but it is not going to do everything,’explains Katy Janda, a UKERC seniorresearcher,‘consumption patterns of building users can defeat the most careful design. ’In other words, old habits die hard, even in the best-designed eco-home.Another part of the problem is information. Households and bill-payers don’t have the knowledge they need to change their energy-use habits. Without specific information,it’s hard to estimate the costs and bene fits of making different choices. Feedback (反馈)facilities, like smart meters and energy monitors, could help bridge this information gap by helping people see how changing their behaviour directly affects their energy use; some studies have shown that households can achieve up to 15 percent energy savings using smart meters.Social science research has added a further dimension (方面),suggesting that individuals’behaviour in the home can be personal and cannot be predicted 一whether people throw open their windows rather than turn down the thermostat (恒温器) , for example. Janda argues that education is the key. She calls for a focused programme to teach people about buildings and their own behaviour in them.66. As to energy use, the new research from UKERC stresses the importance of________.A. zero-carbon homesB. the behaviour of building usersC. sustainable building designD. the reduction of carbon emissions67. The underlined word “which” in Paragr aph 2 refers to”________.”A. the waysB. their homesC. developmentsD. existing efforts68. What are Katy Janda’s words mainly about?A. The importance of changing building users, habits.B. The necessity of making a careful building design.C. The variety of consumption patterns of building users.D. The role of technology in improving energy efficiency.69. The information gap in energy use_______.A. can be bridged by feedback facilitiesB. affects the study on energy monitorsC. brings about problems for smart metersD. will be c aused by building users’ old habits70. What does the dimension added by social science research suggest?A. The social science research is to be furthered.B. The education programme is under discussion.C. The behaviour of building users is unpredictable.D. The behaviour preference of building users is similar.B8.AWestern New Bridge Library Announcement2008-3-10。

This holiday is much more important in some regions than in others (Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo being the biggest Sweetest Day cities). It is a holiday that is gaining in popularity every year throughout the country.Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October as a day to make someone happy. It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged, and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.Over 60 years ago, a Cleveland man, believing that the city’s orphans and shut-ins too often felt forgotten and neglected, formed the idea of showing them that they were remembered. He did this through the distribution of small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he distributed these remembrances on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to participate in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called "Sweetest Day". In time, the Sweetest Day idea of spreading cheer to the poor was broadened to include everyone, and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small gift. And soon the idea spread to other cities all over the country.Sweetest Day is not based on any single group’s religious belief or on a family relationship. It is a reminder that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning. Because for many people remembering takes the form of gift-giving, Sweetest Day offers us the opportunity to show others that we care, in a practical way.4. Facebook then attempts to make money by selling their data to advertisers that want to send targeted messages. Most Facebook users don’t realize this is happening. Even if they know what the company is up to, they still have no idea what they’re paying for Facebook because people don’t really know what their personal information is worth. The biggest problem, however, is that the company keeps changing the rules. Early on, you keep everything private. That was the great thing about Facebook — you could create your own little private network. Last year, the company changed its privacy rules so that many things — your city, your photo, your friends' names—were set, by default (默许) to be shared with everyone on the Internet.According to Facebook’s vice-president Elliot Schrage, the company is simply making changes to improve its service, and if people don’t share information, they have a “less satisfying experience”.Some people think this is more about Facebook looking to make more money. Its original business model, which was about selling ads and putting them at the side of the page, totally failed. Who wants to look at ads when they’re online connecting with their friends? The privacy issue has already landed Facebook in hot water in Washington. In April, Senator Charles Schumer called on Facebook to change its privacy policy. He also urged the Federal Trade Commission to set guidelines for social-networking sites. “I think the senator rightly communicated that we had not been clear about what the new products were and how people could choose to use them or not to use them,” Schrage admits.zx&x&kI think that whatever Facebook has done so far to invade our privacy is only the beginning, which is why I’m considering stopping using it. Facebook is a convenient site, but I’m upset by the idea that my information is in the hands of people I don’t know. That’s too high aprice to pay.8. What is the main idea of the passage?A. Facebook is becoming a more useful site.B. Facebook is improving its service gradually.C. Facebook is stealing and selling users’ information.D. Facebook is losing more customers.9. What did Facebook’s business model include at the beginning?A. Selling its service.B. Selling ads.C. Selling its products.D. Selling personal information.10. According to the writer, why Facebook make changes to its rule?A. To provide better service to its users.B. To follow the Federal guidelines.C. To encourage its users’ communication.D. To gain its users’ more personal information.11. What does the writer plan to do?A. He is planning not to use Facebook any longer.B. He is considering to fight against Facebook.C. He is planning to change his personal information.D. He urges Federal Trade Commission to set guidelines for Facebook.DHave you ever had trouble trying to choose a gift? Perhaps you need a birthday present for someone who is hard to please. How about clothing? You might be about choosing the wrong size, color, or style. Books or DVD s? You may not know enough about the person’s likes, dislikes, and interests. And giving money may not seem right. Well, how about a gift card?A gift card is a card that is issued(发行) by a certain store. It’s worth a certain amount of money. It looks like a credit card, but it actually works like cash. A gift card holder can spend the amount of money noted on the card in the store that issued it. These cards are big moneymakers. One reason is that when gift-card holders go to the store, they often see other things to buy, and they end up spending more money than the gift card is worth.Gift cards are becoming extremely popular in many countries around the world. Why? People love the convenience —cards are easy to buy and easy to use, either in the store or online. The receiver can select his or her own gift, and the giver doesn’t have to worry about finding just the right thing.Receiving a gift card, however, is not the same as receiving a gift. An actual gift is a better reminder of the person who gave it. It helps us appreciate the thought and effort that went into the choice. The message of a real gift is more likely to be “ I spent some time trying to find the right gift for you be cause I care about you.”Often a gift card doesn’t pass on the same message as an actual gift. It may seem to say, “ I was in a hurry. I didn’t have time to think about what you really like.” In today’s busy world, gift cards are convenient. However, they can make us forget the real purpose of giving gifts, which is to build a closer bond between the gift-giver and the gift-receiver.12. How does the author introduce the main topic?A. By comparison.B. By asking questions.C. By explanation.D. By making a statement.13. What is the advantage of gift cards?A. They can be used as credit cards.B. They are worth more money than they cost.C. They could make more money for the store.D. The used gift cards can be kept by customers.14. Why does the author advise giving an actual gift?A. It is liked more by the receivers.B. It is worth more than a gift card.C. It can show the givers’ thought and effort.D. It contains more information about the givers.15. What might be the suitable title for the text?A. Gift Cards.B. Ways to Send Gifts.C. The Meaning of Gifts.D. The Best Gift — Gift Cards第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)按照短文内容,从短文后的选项当选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

B此卷只装订不密封班级 姓名 准考证号 考场号 座位号How do young people learn best? This is something I think about a lot when teaching foreign languages to young people. I often find that traditional teaching methods are neither always effective nor interesting for young brains to learn a foreign language. After moving to southern Italy I was lucky to have had the chance to run a private course teaching English to under 7-year-olds. I was aware that children liked to sing and enjoyed games so I wanted to use these tools to help my students develop English conversation skills. I found some fun and easy songs online, which they loved. I also found the English versions of some nursery rhymes they recognized. All of them were very interesting and helpful but students could still not have a basic conversation in English.I knew I wanted these guys to be fully immersed in the language I was teaching and I also wanted them to speak it. I was keen to give 90% of my lessons in English but I knew it’d be difficult to get them to speak in a foreign language they have little or zero exposure to outside our lessons, so I had to come up with a simple yet effective plan. One day I decided to prepare a simple dialogue in English, so that I could get them to sing and chant(有节奏地反复地唱) it, rather than simply getting students to repeat the phrases. I discovered that chanting some conversational sentences was the way to get students to speak in English — it worked! So when teaching English to young people now, I encourage them to make up their own songs and chants to help them remember expressions or complex sentences.24. What is the passage mainly talking about?A. How to make young learners like a foreign language.B. How to teach foreign languages to young people.C. How to run a private course in southern Italy.D. How to help the younger children with studies.25. What does the underlined word “immersed” mean in the 3rd paragraph?A. Amused.B. Buried .C. Related.D. Informed.26. How did the author feel when faced with difficulty in teaching?A. He found it impossible to teach children with little English.B. He tried to be a patient and responsible teacher.C. He realized he was unable to finish the task of teaching.D. He actually kind of discouraged and disappointed.27. What can be inferred from the passage?A. Mistakes are an important part of education.B. A teacher can never tell where his influence stops.C. A teacher should understand his students’ needs.D. Confidence is the first step on the way to success.【答案】24-27 BBBC【解析】这是一篇记叙文。
