He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.During the hours when you labour through your work you may say that you’re “hot”. That’s true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologues (自言自语) as: “Get up, John! You’ll be late for work again!” The possible explanation to the trouble is that John is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has.You can’t change your energy cycle, but you can lea rn to make your life it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleitman believes. Maybe you’re sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract (对抗) your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won’t change your cycle, but you’ll get up steam (鼓起干劲) andwork better at your low point.Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get with a leisurely yawl and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the trouble some search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. When ever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.76. If a person finds getting up early a problem, most probably _______.he is a lazy personhe refuses to follow his own energy cyclehe is not sure when his energy is lowhe is at his peak in the afternoon or evening77. Which of the following may lead to family quarrels according to the passage?A. Unawareness of energy cycles.B. Familiar monologues.C. A change in a family member’s energy cycle.Attempts to control the energy cycle of other family member.78. If one wants to work more efficiently at his low point in the morning, he should _____.A. change his energy cycle C. get up earlier than usualB. overcome his laziness D. go to bed earlier79. You are advised to rise with a yawn and stretch because it will ______.help to keep your energy for the day’s workhelp you to control your temper early in the dayenable you to concentrate on your routine workkeep your energy cycle under control all day80. Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE?Getting off to work with a minimum effort helps save one’s energy.Dr. Kleitman explains why people reach their peak at different hours of day.Habit helps a person adapt to his own energy cycle.Children have energy cycles, too.参考答案Ⅰ. WritingFake CommoditiesFake and poor quality commodities are a serious problem. Many things can be faked such as soybean sauce, vinegar, bicycles, and many other things. The interests of consumers are affected, and many enterprises keep losing money because of cheap fake commodities. There are some reasons for such a phenomenon. The major one is the desire of some people to “make easy money”. These people think nothing of the law of the protection of intellectual property rights. To get rid of fake and poor quality commodities, the government should educate people to obey the law of the protection of individual intellectual property rights and not to sell any fake goods. The government should punish severely and close down all the factories producing fake goods。

辽宁省学位英语作文历年真题及答案

辽宁省学位英语作文历年真题及答案

辽宁省学位英语作文历年真题及答案My Experience with the Liaoning Graduate English ExamHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm in 5th grade. I just took the big Liaoning Province graduate English exam last month. It was really hard but also kind of fun! My teacher said I did a great job. I wanted to share my experience with the exam and some of the questions I remember.First of all, the exam was super long - I think it lasted like 3 hours! My hand got so tired from all the writing. The first section had us listen to recordings and answer questions about what we heard. One recording was about a boy talking about his summer vacation. I had to say whether certain statements were true or false based on what he said. Like "He went to the beach" was true, but "He saw a monkey" was false. Another recording was about giving directions. The person said stuff like "Go straight and turn right at the park." Then I had to draw a map showing the route they described. That was really tricky! The next section was reading comprehension. We had to read some passages and answer questions about them. One passage was about the history of pizza, which was kind of interesting. The questions asked stuff like what ingredients werementioned, when pizza became popular, that kind of thing. Another passage was aboutsome kids putting on a school play. Those comprehension questions were hard because they asked more analytical things, like why a character made a certain choice or what deeper meaning the play was trying to express. After that was the writing section - my favorite part! For the first writing question, we had to look at some pictures and write a story about what was happening in them. The pictures showed a girl finding a stray dog in the park. We had to use our imagination to make up a whole story about her and the dog. I wrote about how she took the dog home but her parents wouldn't let her keep it at first, until the dog saved her little brother from getting hit by a car! Then they decided to keep the heroic dog forever. Pretty dramatic, right? The last writing question was an opinion essay. The prompt asked if we think elementary schools should have longer lunch periods. I wrote all about how yes, definitely, we need more time to eat, play, and recharge our batteries during the day. I gave examples of how I often feel rushed to cram down my food before recess ends. I said a longer break would let us come back to class feeling refreshed and ready to learn instead of stillhungry and antsy to go play. I had a lot of thoughts on this very important issue!Overall, even though parts of the test were really hard, I felt good about how I did. There was such a variety of questions and tasks to show off all the English skills we've been learning. My favorite questions were the creative writing ones where I got to use my imagination. The most difficult were probably the listening questions because it was hard to catch everything the first time.My advice for taking this exam would be to practice your listening comprehension as much as you can beforehand. Maybe have some friends read passages aloud and quiz you on what they said. For the reading, work on pulling out details but also being able to analyze language and deeper meanings. And for writing, practice makes perfect! Do lots of timed practice essays so you can work on grammar but also developing your ideas fully.Taking a big standardized test like this was a unique experience! It challenged me to use everything I've learned in English class over the years. I have a lot of respect now for how comprehensive and well-rounded the exam was in testing ourskills. Even though it was hard work, I feel really proud that I persevered and tried my best. Wish me luck on my score! That's my story about conquering the Liaoning graduate English exam as a 5th grader. It was an unforgettable experience that helped show how far I've come and how much more I still have to learn. Here's to many more English adventures to come! Thanks for reading.。

The word rubbish could lose its meaning because everything which goes into the dumps would be made into something useful. Even the most dangerous and unpleasant waste would provide energy if nothing else. The latest project is to take a city of around half a million inhabitants and discover exactly what raw materials go into it and what go out. The aim is to find out how much of these raw materials could be provided if a plant for recycling waste were built just outside the city. This plant would recycle not only mental such as steel, lead and copper, but also paper and rubber as well.Another new project is being set up to discover the best ways of sorting and separating the rubbish. When this project is complete, the rubbish will be processed like this: first, it will pass through sharp mental bars which will tear open the plastic bags in which rubbish is usually packed; then it will pass through a powerful fan to separate the lightest elements from the heavy solid; after that founders and rollers will break up everything that can be broken. Finally, the rubbish will pass under magnets, which will remove the bits of iron and steel; the rubber and plastic will then be sorted out in the final stage. The first full-scale(全面的)giant recycling plants are perhaps fifteen years away. Indeed, with the growing cost of transporting rubbish to move distant dumps, some big cities will be forced to build their own recycling plants before long.36.The phrase “should be well on with” (Para.1) most probably means______.A. get ready to startB. have achieved a great deal inC. have completed what was startedD. put an end to37. The passage is mainly about______.A. the location of recycling plantsB. new ways of recycling wastesC. a cheap way to get energyD. the probability of city environmentIIIPlay is the principal business of childhood, and in recent years research has shown the great importance of play in the development of a human being. From earliest infancy, every child needs opportunity and the right materials for play, and the main tools of play are toys. Their main function is to suggest, encourage and assist play. To succeed in this they must be good toys, which children will play with often, and will come back to again and again. Therefore it is important to choose suitable toys for different stages of a child’s development. In recent years research on infant development has shown that the standard a child is likely to reach, within the range of his inherited(继承的) abilities, is largely determined in the first three years of his life. So a baby’s ability to profit from the right play materials should not be underestimated. A baby who is encouraged and stimulated (刺激), talked to and shown things and played with, has the best chance of growing up successfully. In the next stage, from three to five years old, curiosity knows no bounds. Every type of suitable toy should be made available to the child, for trying out, experimenting and learning, for discovering his own particular ability. Bricks and jigsaws(七巧板)and construction toys; painting, scribbling(涂鸦) find making things; sand and water play; toys for imaginative and pretending play; the first social games for learning to play and get on with others.By the third stage of play development―from five to seven or e ight years―the child is at school. But for a few more years play is still the best way of learning, at home or at school. It is easier to see which type of toys the child most enjoys.Until the age of seven or eight, play and work mean much the same to a child. But once reading has been mastered, then books and school become the main source of learning. Toys are still interesting and valuable, they lead on to new hobbies, but their significance has changed―to a child of nine or ten years, toys and games mean, as to adults, relaxation and fun.41. The passage tells us that as a child grows up, _______.A. he should be allowed to choose his own toysB. he should be given identical (同样的) toysC. he should be given different toysD. he should be given fewer and fewer toys42. According to the passage, the abilities a child has inherited from his parents______.A. determine his characterB. will not change after the age of threeC. partly determine the standard he is likely to reachD. to a large extent determine the choice of toys43. Who have the best chance of growing up successfully?A. Those who tend to overeatB. Those who are given a lot of toysC. Those who are given toys, talked to and played withD. Those who can share their toys with their playmates44. We learn from the passage that a child has boundless curiosity(好奇心)______.A. when he is twoB. when he is around fourC. when he is sixD. when he is eight45. The passage is mainly about_______.A. the importance of pre-school educationB. the importance of schoolingC. the role of play in a child’s developmentD. the choice of toys for adolescentsIVWhen television was first introduced into American society thirty years ago, writers and social scientists thought that this new invention would better American life. Television is going to bring American families closer together, predicted psychologist Joel Gold in 1949. Pictures which advertised television in the 1950s invariably showed a happy family gathered together in the living room, sharing the TV viewing experience. Who could have guessed that a quarter of a century later Mother would be in the kitchen watching a daytime drama, Dad would be in the living room watching a ball game, and the children would be watching cartoons in their bedroom?Television has certainly changed American life, but not the way the first critics predicted. The first televisions were enormously expensive, so most families owned only one. By 1975, however, 60% of American families owned two televisions or more; some middle class families had as many as five television sets under one roof. Such multi-set families may keep family members in the same house, but that hardly brings them together. In fact, family outings ― hiking, going to the movies, going out to dinner ― are often limited by TV because one or more family members don’t want to go: “I’ll miss my program.” is the common complaint.Perhaps more important than the lack of family outings is the destruction of family time together at home. Social scientists in the 1950s could not have realized how much television Americans would watch in the 1980s; the average American watches 6 hours of TV a day. That leaves little time for the special family characteristics and traditions that used to be formed during long evenings together. The time devoted to games, songs, and hobbies ― all shared activities ― in the years before TV is now dominated by “the tube”. And especially damaging to family relationships is the elimination of the opportunities for talking: chatting, arguing, discussing.Without such communication, family life disintegrates.Domination is the key word. Families in America today schedule their lives around the television. Children rush home from school to watch their programs while they do their homework. Mother shops between her special programs. The ski slopes are nearly empty on Sunday; football on TV takes precedence. The family may even eat meals in front of the television. Moreover, television is used as a baby-sitter; small children nationwide spend countless hours in front of the TV, passively ingesting whatever flashes before their eyes. Parents use the television as a resource of reward and punishment: “If you mow the lawn, you can watch TV an extra hour tonight,” or “No TV for you. You didn’t do your homework”. Ultimately, life-styles revolve around a regular schedule of eating, sleeping, and watching television.Isn’t there a better family life than this dismal, mechanized arrangement? According to social scientist Mary Helen Thuente, the q uality of life is diminished as family ties grow weaker, as children’s lives grow more and more separate from their parents, as the opportunities for living and sharing within a family are eliminated. Indeed, if the family does not accumulate shared experiences, it is not likely to survive. Consequently, if parents and children alike do not change their priorities, television will continue to exert its influence on American family life as baby-sitter, pacifier, teacher, role model, and supplier of morals, thus supplanting the place of the family in society.46. The main idea of paragraph 1 is that______.A. thirty years ago, television was introduced into American societyB. Write your right letter on the Answer Sheet:(20%)Passage 1Public goods are those commodities whose enjoyment nobody can be effectively excluded. Everybody is free to enjoy the benefits of these commodities and one person’s use does not reduce the possibilities of anybody else’s enjoying the same good.Examples of public goods are not as rare as one might expect.A flood control dam is a public good. Once the dam is built, all persons living in the area will benefit—irrespective of(不考虑)their own contribution to the construction cost of the dam. The same holds true for highway signs or aids navigation(航海).Once a lighthouse is built, no ship of any nationality can be effectively excluded from use of the lighthouse for navigational purposes. National defense is another example. Even a person who voted against military costs or did not pay any taxes will benefit from the protection afforded. It is no easy task to determine the social costs and social benefits associated with a pubilc good. There is no practicable way of charging drivers for looking at highway signs, sailors for watching a lighthouse and citizens for the security provided to them through national defense. Because the market does not provide the necessary signals, economic study is to be replaced by the impersonal judgment of the marketplace.1.What does the passage mainly discuss?A. Persuasive language is used to argue against a popular idea.D. Suggestions for the application of an economic concept are offered.Passage 2At the bottom of the world lies a mighty continent still wrapped in the Ice Age and, until recent times, unknown to man. It is a great landmass with mountain ranges whose extent and elevation are still uncertain. Much of the continent is a complete blank on our maps. Man has explored, on foot, less than one percent of its area.Antarctica differs fundamentally from the Arctic regions. The Arcitc is an ocean, covered with drifting packed ice and hemmed in by the landmasses of Europe, Asia, and North America. TheAntarctic is a continent almost as large as Europe and Australia combined, centered roughly on the South Pole and surrounded by the most unobstructed water areas of the world—the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. The continental ice sheet is more than two miles high in its center; thus, the air over the Antarctic is far more iced than it is over the Arctic regions. This cold air current from the land is so forceful that it makes the nearby seas the stormiest in the world and makes unlivable those regions whose counterparts(配对物) at the opposite end of the globe are livable. Thus, more than million persons live within 2,000 miles of the North Pole in an area that includes most of Alaska, Siberia, and Scandinavia—a region rich in forest and mining industries. Apart from a handful of weather stations, within the same distance of the South Pole there is not a single tree, industry or settlement.6.The best title for this selection would be ______.A. IcelandB. Land of OpportunityC. Utopia at LastD. The Unknown Continent7.At the time this article was written, our knowledge of Antarctica was ______.A. very limitedB. vastC. fairly richD. nonexistent8.Antarctica is bordered by the ______.A. Pacific OceanB. Indian OceanC. Atlantic OceanD. All three9.The Antarctic is made uninhabitable primarily by ______.A. iceB. calm seasC. cold airD. lack of knowledge about the continent10.According to this article ______.A. 2,000 people live on the Antarctic Continent第 4 页B. a million people live within 2,000 miles of the South PoleC. weather conditions within a 2,000 miles radius of the South Pole make settlements impracticalD. only a handful of natives inhabit AntarcticaPassage 3If there is any single element that makes for success in living, it is the ability to profit by defeat. Every success I know has been achieved because the person was able to study defeat and actually profit by it in his next task. Confuse defeat with failure, and you are sure indeed to fail. For it isn’t defeat that makes you fail; it is your own refusal to see in defeat the guide and encouragement to success.Defeats are nothing to be ashamed of. They are daily incidents in the life of every man who achieves success. But defeat is a dead loss unless you do face it without humiliation, study it and learn why you failed. Defeat, in other words, can help to heal its own cause. Not only does defeat prepare us for success, but nothing can arouse(唤起) within use such a compelling desire to succeed. If you let a baby grasp a rod and try to pull it away, he will cling more and more tightly until his whole weight is suspended(悬挂).It is this same reaction that should give you newand greater strength every time you are defeated. If you use the power which defeat gives, you can accomplish with it far more than you are capable of.11.What does the author know?A. It’s not mentioned in the passage.B .He knows every success in life.C. He knows at least several cases of success.D. He knows every success that has been achieved by man.12.The person who was able to analyze defeat is likely ______.A. to achieve successB. to be a successorC. to be ashamed of his defeatD. to let a baby grasp a rod13.The author ______.A. advises you to confuse defeat with failureB. wants you to mistake defeat for failureC. orders you to confuse defeat with failureD. warns you not to confuse defeat with failure14.Defeat is valuable ______.A. in that it provides the guide and encouragement to successB. because it forces you to face it without humiliationC. because it makes you failD. because of your own refusal to see in it the guide and encouragement to success15.What does the author advice one to do with the power which defeat gives? One should ______.A. make unfair use of itB. turn it to practical accountC. explore itD. explain itPassage 4Dorothea Dix left home at an early age of her own free will to live with her grandmother. At fourteen, Dorothea was teaching school at Worcester, Massachusetts. A short time after she had begun teaching, she estab lished a school for young girls in her grandparents’ home. Stress was placed on moral character at Dorothea’s school, which she conducted until she was thirty-three.第 5 页She was forced to give up teaching at her grandparents’ home, however, when she became ill. A few year of inactivity followed. In 1841 Dorothea began to teach again, accepting a Sunday school class in the East Cambridge, Massachusetts’ jail. Here, she first came upon insane people locked up together with criminals. In those days insane people were treated even worse than criminals. There were only a few asylums(疯人院) in the entire country. Therefore jails, poor houses, and houses of correction were used to confine the insane.Dorothea Dix made a careful investigation of the inhuman treatment of the insane. It was considered unfit for a woman to devote herself to such work at this time. But this did not stop Dorothea Dix in her efforts to provide proper medical care for the insane.Gradually, because of her investigations, conditions were improved. More than thirty mental institutions were founded or reestablished in the United States because of her efforts.Dorothea also extended her investigations to England and to other parts of Europe.During the Civil War, Dorothea served as superintendent(主管) of women hospital nurses in the Union army.
