2005年，相对每100名适龄工作的成年人，仅有16名中国老年人。
这一老年抚养比到2025年将会翻番到32％，到2050年会再翻一番，达到61％。
到2050年时，将会有4.38亿中国人年龄达到或超过60岁，其中1.08亿人超过80岁，2050年劳动者的负担将增长3倍。
