New lesson:
1.Step 1 Lead-in
Show a picture. Lead in by asking the following questions: Do you want to be a volunteer? What would you like to do to help others? Who needs help? Discuss the questions in groups.
2.Step 2 Presentation
Present the new items by showing some pictures: clean up the city parks, give out food at the food bank, visit the sick kids to cheer them up, volunteer in an after-school program, visit the old people’s home…Read them aloud to get the pronunciation right.
3.Step 3 Listening
1). Listen to 1b.
2). Check the students’ answers.
3). Listen and repeat.
4.Step 4 Practice
Practice conversations in pairs like this:
A: I hope to work outside.
B: You could help to clean up the city parks.
5.Step 5 Listening
1). 2a Listen and check
2). 2b Listen again. Fill in the blanks 3). Check the students’ answers.
6.Step 6 Pair work
1). Listen to the tape again and repeat it.
2). Role-play the conversation.
7.Step 7 Role-playing
1). Go over the conversation in 2d, and deal with the difficulties in groups.
Go over the conversation in 2d quickly, if you have any trouble,
discuss them
in your group. The teacher goes through the classroom and offers help if
necessary.

3). Act out their conversations in groups, then in class.
8.Step 8 Homework
Finish off the workbook Section A 1a-2d. Recite the conversation and the new
words.
