One of the most important things in the world is friendship. In order to have friends, you have to be a friend. But how can you be a good friend at school?
Listen —Listen when they are talking. Don't say anything unless they ask you a question. Sometimes it's not necessary for you to have anything to say; they just need someone to talk to about their feelings.
Help them — If your friend is ever in need of something, be there to help them. You should try to put them first, but make sure you don't do everything they want you to do. Try to take an extra (额外的) pencil or pen with you to classes in case (以防) they forget one. Have a little extra money in your pocket in case they forget something they need.
Be there for them — Try to make something for your friend to help make them feel better in hard times.
Making cards and encouraging them are among the nicest things you can do for a friend. Marilyn Monroe, a famous U.S. actor, once said, “I often make mist akes. Sometimes I am out of control. But if you can't stay with me at my worst, you are sure not to deserve (值得) to be with me at my best.” Always remember this! If you don't want to stay with your friends when they're in hard times, then you don't deserve to be with them when they're having a good time!
Make plans —Try to make plans with your friends. Go shopping, go for ice cream, have a party, go to a movie and so on. Take time to know each other even better by doing something you both enjoy. By planning things together, you both can have a good time. And you'll remember these things when you're all old! 24.While your friend is talking to you about his or her feelings, you should ________.

C A man is known by his friends
D A friend in need is a friend indeed.
27. What is the passage mainly about?

D. How to make more friends.

Attitude isn’t quite everything when it comes to being successful, but attitude plays a part in every stage of your life. A poor attitude gets more people fired than any other single factor, and a good attitude gets people jobs and helps them keep those jobs more than any other factor.
Your attitude affects many people, from your family to the stranger on the street corner. Your attitude is particularly important when you face seemingly hopeless situations. Losing a job or a friend because of a poor attitude is unfortunate—especially because a bad attitude can be fixed.
You can find at least two ways to look at everything. A pessimist looks for difficulty in the opportunity, while an optimist looks for opportunity in the difficulty. A poet of long ago put the difference between optimism and pessimism(悲观主义) this way: two men looked out of the prison bars—one saw mud while the other saw stars.
Unfortunately, many people look only at the problem and not at the opportunity that lies within the problem. Many employees complain about the difficulty of their jobs, for example, not realizing that if the job was simple, the employer would hire someone with less ability at a lower wage. A small coin can hide even the sun if you hold the coin close enough to your eye. So when you get too close to your problems, to think objectively(客观地) about them, try to keep in mind how your vision(视觉)can be obstructed. Take a step back, and look at the situation from a new angle.
You can’t do anything to change the fact that a problem exists, but you can do a great deal to find the opportunity within that problem. You’re guaranteed a better tomorrow by doing your best today and developing a plan of action for the
tomorrows that lie ahead. Just remember to maintain a positive mental attitude.
32.What does the author mean by saying the first sentence in Paragraph 1?
A. If you have a good attitude, you will be successful.
B. Your attitude makes a great influence on your life.
C. Your attitude has nothing to do with your success.
D. Your success is very important to your life.
33.In Paragraph 3, the writer shows us ________.
A. two ways to look at everything
B. the ways to look for opportunity
C. the explanation of pessimist and optimist
D. the ways to look out from prison bars
34.The writer mentions the example of many employees in Paragraph 4 to tell people to ___.
A. ignore the problem
B. make their jobs easy to do
C. wait for the problem to be solved
D. look for opportunity in the problem
35.The underlined word “obstructed” in Paragraph 4 probably means ________.
A. dropped

One Possible Version
Dear parents,
I have been studying in this school for over two months. This two months have seen my surprises , worries, and progress in English learning.
First, I was shocked to find myself surrounded by much better English learners when I started my English course. My English teacher’s language ability also puts what I have acquired in shade . Sometimes I even can’t follow my English teache r’s lectures . S econdly , my spoken English always embarrasses myself . I regret for what I ignored before . Thirdly, my vocabulary is still my concern . A larger vocabulary is required to follow the teacher in class for the way of teaching and learning is quite different here. I was upset when I saw my poor score of the test for Unit Two . Faced with all the difficulties , I was determined to fight . With the help of my teacher and my classmates , I have made progress . Now I can roughly understand what the teacher teaches in class despite a fewer problems.
Anyway , I am convinced that I will improve my English proficiency , though I still have a long way to go. There is always light at the end of the tunnel , I strongly believe.
Yours
Lihua。
