六年级下册月考重点英语作文范文
My Summer Vacation Adventures
Summer vacation is the best time of the year for kids like me. No more waking up super early, no more homework, and three months of freedom to have fun! This past summer was one I'll never forget with all the exciting adventures I had.
It started off with a bang on the last day of school. My best friend Sam and I made big plans for the summer. First up was going to summer camp for two weeks in late June. We had gone the previous year and had such an amazing experience. Summer camp is held at a huge camp ground out in the woods. There are all kinds of fun outdoor activities like swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, and more.
The best part is spending day and night with all your friends in the cabins and around the campfire. We played endless games of capture the flag and had ooey gooey s'mores every night. One of the camp counselors taught us how to make lanyards out of colored plastic strips. Sam and I must have made 20 different patterned lanyards each! I still have mine hanging in my room.
After camp was over, Sam's family went on a big road trip for two weeks, so we didn't get to hang out much. That was okay
though because my family had its own fun excursions planned. One weekend we went camping up in the mountains. We hiked to an amazing waterfall and I got to build my first campfire all by myself (with Dad's supervision of course!). The s'mores kept me full of energy.
Another weekend my parents surprised me and took me to Ruckus Ridge, an adventure resort with attractions galore! There were huge climbing walls, a skate park, bungee trampoline jumping, a massive arcade, and even an indoor skydiving simulator. My favorite was easily the skydiving simulator - you get in this vertical wind tunnel and the air blasts up so strongly that you can just float and spin around. It feels like you're really freefalling from the sky. So much adrenaline!
When Sam got back from her road trip, our families combined forces for the best adventure of the summer - a weeklong beach vacation! We rented a huge beach house right on the Atlantic coast. You could just walk out the back door and put your toes in the sand. The ocean was warm and the waves were perfect for boogie boarding. Sam and I spent hours riding those waves and perfecting our form.
We also went kayaking, built dozens of sandcastles, had an epic sibling vs. sibling beach volleyball tournament, and went on
a dolphin watching cruise. At night, we'd have bonfires and roast s'mores while watching shooting stars streak across the sky. Laying on our backs on those warm summer nights, gazing up at the cosmos, I felt so peaceful and happy.
And the food...oh man, the food. We had it all - cotton candy, candy apples, funnel cakes, corn dogs, turkey legs, lemonade, and more! I think I ate my weight in fried dough and sugary sweets. No regrets though, summer is the time to indulge a little.
As August came to a close, Sam and I spent our final carefree days just hanging out in the neighborhood. We'd have lemonade stands, have water balloon fights, play pickup games of kickball and basketball, and ride our bikes all around the town. Those simple pleasures are what summer is truly about when you're a kid.
Before I knew it, summer was over and it was time for a new school year. Part of me was sad to see that freedom end, but I was also excited to see my classmates again and get back into the routine. Plus, I have so many amazing memories from my summer adventures to look back on!
Sam and I already started making our plans for next summer.
A trip to Disney World may be in the works...but I'll just have to wait and see what awesome adventures are in store. Whatever
