人们常说服务他人快乐自己的英文作文Serving Others is the Way to True Happiness
Have you ever heard the saying "It's better to give than to receive"? I think there's a lot of truth to that. My parents and teachers are always telling me that helping and serving others is one of the most rewarding things we can do. At first, I didn't really understand what they meant. But the more I've experienced giving to and doing things for other people, the more I've realized how happy it makes me feel inside.
Last year, our class did a big service project where we all brought in canned foods and made care packages for families in need. It felt really good knowing the food we collected was going to people who didn't have enough to eat. We also wrote nice notes and drew pictures to include, trying to spread some extra cheer. Seeing how grateful the families were when we delivered the packages gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling that lasted all day.
My best friend Sara's little brother was really sick last winter and had to stay in the hospital for a long time. I remember my mom saying we should do something nice for their family since they were going through such a hard time. So every few days, I
would make Sara's brother a fresh get well soon card with jokes, riddles, and silly pictures to hopefully cheer him up a little. When he finally got out of the hospital, Sara told me those cards made him smile when he was feeling really down. Hearing that made me happy too!
Sometimes serving others is as simple as just being a good friend. Like when my neighbor Eric fell off his bike last month and scraped up his knee pretty bad. I ran to get him a bandage and some antiseptic spray to clean the cut. Eric was really grateful I was there to help and didn't have to walk home bleeding. Seeing the relief on his face after I patched him up felt way better than if I had just kept playing by myself.
Of course, it's not always easy to stop what you're doing and put others first. Like when my little sister constantly needs me to help her with stuff. Sometimes I get annoyed, especially if I'm right in the middle of a really fun game or activity and she needs me to pause to help her with her homework or reach something up high. But then I remember how happy it makes her when her big brother lends a hand. And that little smile she gets makes any frustration totally worth it.
Plus, having a servant's heart and looking for ways to help out doesn't just make others happy. It makes me feel good about
myself too. It's nice knowing you had a positive impact, even if it was just a small act of kindness or going the extra mile for someone else's benefit instead of your own. Those little things add up and can really make a difference.
My family volunteers serving meals at a local soup kitchen every other weekend. At first, I wasn't super excited to spend my Saturdays that way. But now I actually look forward to it. It's become a cool tradition of ours and a chance to work together on something bigger than ourselves. We've gotten to know a lot of the regulars who come for meals. Getting to chat and joke around with them is one of the highlights. Seeing their smiling faces as we hand out plates of hot food makes the hard work of prepping, cooking, and cleaning totally pay off.
I've realized that money and getting new toys or games doesn't lead to true, lasting happiness and fulfillment. Sure, those things are fun and I definitely still enjoy getting gifts and treating myself sometimes. But the joy fades pretty quickly. Whereas the good feeling you get from serving others sticks around. It's almost like a warm glow that you can tap back into by replaying the memory in your mind. Even just thinking about how I was able to help someone puts me in a great mood.
Serving others makes me feel useful, caring, and alive with purpose. It challenges me to look beyond myself and think about the needs of the people around me. How can I make their day a little brighter or their struggle a little easier? What skills and talents do I have that could be used to positively impact those around me and make the world a tiny bit better? It takes the focus off of me and my own wants for a little while. And you know what? That's really refreshing.
I've also started realizing that when I go out of my way to lend a hand or do something kind for someone else with no expectations of getting anything back in return, it makes me feel awesome about myself. Like my parents and teachers are proud of the person I'm becoming. That's an incredible confidence boost, way better than the temporary rush of getting something new.
So yeah, I've come to believe that doing good deeds and being of service to those around you truly is the path to feeling happy and fulfilled. Not just for the people you're helping, but for yourself too. It's a win-win! From sharing a snack with a hungry friend to volunteering around the community to simply lending an ear when someone needs to talk, there are endless opportunities each day to brighten someone else's world.
Truthfully, I'm still just a kid figuring a lot of this out as I go. I definitely don't have it all figured out, and I still get caught up in wanting things for myself sometimes. But more and more, I'm realizing that true contentment comes from making an effort to put others first and bringing a little extra light into their lives when I can. That's something pretty special.
So I encourage all of you, next time you spot a chance to cheerfully serve or lend a hand, go for it! It'll make the other person's day better, but your heart will thank you too. Who knows, you might just get hooked on that helper's high and feeling of deep satisfaction that comes with living a life of generosity and service. I know I have! Happiness isn't about what we acquire or achieve, it's about what we give.。
