Analysis of the teaching material:
This unit is from “go for it”for students of grade 7. The topic of this unit is talking about animals. So this unit is very interesting. This is the first period of the whole unit. Students would be interested in it.
Analysis of the students:
Although students of grade 7 have learned certain amount of English words and sentence structures, they may feel difficult in learning new structures. At the same time, they are curious about new things. They are afraid in speaking English out and making mistakes in learning English. So in this part, students should be given more chance to practise their pronunciation, courage and speaking listening skills.
T eaching aims:
According to t he teaching material and the fact of students, my teaching aims is following like these:
Knowledge aims:
1. In this period, students should grasp the spelling and pronunciation of the new words (koala tiger elephant dolphin panda lion penguin giraffe zoo cute map smart interesting animal......);
2. Students should learn the new sentence structures :
a. Let's do sth.
b. Why do you like the lions ? Because they're cute
c. Pandas are from China.
Ability aims:1. After this period, students can use the new words and new sentence structures to talk about animals.
Affective aims:1. After this period, students should know that animals are our
good friend and we should protect them .
Important and difficult points:
Important points: grasp the new words and new sentence structures.
Such as: koala panda lion giraffe zoo cute map smart beautiful......
Difficult points: the new sentence structures
a. Let's see the lion
b.---Why do you want to see the pandas ? ---Because they're cute .
c. ---Where are they from? ---Pandas are from China.
T eaching methods:
communicative method, task-based method.
T eaching aids:computer, chalks, tape recorder
T eaching procedures:
Step1. Warming-up
Ask students to watch a film about animals. The animals in this unit are very interesting. Do you want to know them?
(Intention: Though the part, students can be very interested in it. Some animals are very familiar to them. They remember them and want to express their ideas and thought. At the same time ,they can quickly focus their attention on the topic . ) Step2 .Lead-in and presentation
By a word game to learn new words in this period. Use computer to make flash-cards in order to let them keep the new
words.
T: Do you like the zoo and the animals? (Some pictures shown on the screen.)
Ss: ……
T: Do you want to know how to say them in English?
T: Look at the screen,do you know this animal?
Ss: ……
T: Y es, it is a dog, we are all familiar with it. Dogs are very friendly. Let's see next picture,……
(Intention: students can review the words about animals they have learnt before and I can introduce the new words naturally by showing the photos )
Step3. Presentation
1.Students are asked to do the activity 1a and 1b in page13 .Then, I will check the answers with them. For 1b, after completing it, students will be asked to repeat each sentences in listening material in order to practice their listening skills.
2. After doing those in page13, Students have known the new things a little, then introduce new language structures to them. First, I will present this new language structures on the screen, express the meaning of the new language structures. And the main point will be printed red. Let them know those new language structures.

3.Let’s do sth.

(Intention: students can gain new knowledge in this step)
Step4 .Practice
I will ask some students to read the conversations in 1c after
me. Them some sample conversations will be shown on the screen, ask them to practice the conversations like these with their deskmates or in pairs. Then I'll ask some pairs to show their conversations in the front of the class. I'll check their pronounciation if necessary.
(Intention: in this steps, students get drills of the words and sentence structures. Asking them to show their dialogue before class can cultivate their courage. They want to learn and speak English, but most time they are shy and diffident, for fear that they will make mistake, so it is a good chance for them to practice. )
Consolidation:
Ask students to summarize what we learnt in this class, including words, sentence structures.
Homework:
Level1: Keep the new words and the new language structures and prepare the next lesson.
Level2: Write a dialogue according to the new language structures learned today on their paper. Then practice this dialogue with a classmate in free time. Summery design on the screen
