My daughter used a new app to clear up and improve some of my old photos. There were pictures of Mom, Dad, Nana,
my brothers, me and my first dog Duke. Looking at them brought back so many loving, happy memories. I even used one as my computer screen saver (屏保).
It is a picture of me sitting in my favorite chair, across from the wood stove (炉子), next to a bookcase full of old books.
I am wearing my special Snoopy sweatshirt and hugging Duke. There is a big smile on my face and a joyful twinkle (闪烁)
in my eyes. It was how I spent a lot of my winter afternoons as a boy, hugging Duke and reading an old book.
It is strange too how 50 years later that boy still lives inside of me. I still love comfortable chairs, warm stoves, Snoopy clothes, hugging dogs and reading books on cold winter days. Yet, when I look in the mirror now, all I see is a thin face, gray hair, and lots of wrinkles (皱纹). The only thing that hasn’t completely changed is the eyes. They are hiding behind glasses now. Instead of innocence (天真), there is wisdom (智慧). But they still have that same joyful twinkle.
Looking at the little boy smiling at me from the computer screen and that 56-year-old man looking back at me in the mirror can be a bit confusing (困惑的) at times. They seem so different. Still, they are both me. We can’t stop aging, but we can remain both joyful and young at heart forever.
54. What did the writer’s daughter do with the old photos?
A.She threw them away. B.She improved them with a new app.
C.She used one of them as a screen saver.D.She gave them to many of her family members. 55. What can we learn about the writer’s memories of his family?
A.They were mostly sad.
B.They were happy and sweet.
C.They were all forgotten over time.
D.They were too painful for him to revisit.
56. What has changed about the writer over time?
A.He no longer likes to read.
B.He looks less joyful than before.
C.There aren’t twinkles in his eyes anymore.
D.There is no longer innocence but wisdom.
57. What is the writer’s attitude towards aging?
A.Excited.B.Sad.C.Accepting. D. Unbelieving

“Yes, sir!” answered Ben Weatherstaff.
“I’m going to do a scientific experiment (科学实验),” he said. “When I grow up, I’m going to make scientific discoveries about magic and I’m going to start with this experiment. Do you understand?”

Are you going to help, Ben Weatherstaff?”

They sat down in a circle. The crow, the fox, the squirrels and the lamb were very curious.
“Now, let’s begin,” Colin said, and they all started chanting (吟唱).
“Magic is in me. Magic is in me. Magic is in all of us.”
Then Colin stood up and walked round the garden. He went in front with Dickon on one side and Mary on the other. Ben Weatherstaff walked behind.
Colin walked a bit then rested. Then he walked again and rested again. At first, he held Dickon’s arm, then he walked a few steps alone.
“I can walk! The magic worked!” he cried.
“What is the doctor going to say?” asked Mary.
“Nothing.” Colin answered, “because we aren’t going to tell him. No one must know that I can walk and run. It’s a surprise for my father when he comes back to Misselthwaite.”
“He’s going to think it’s a dream,” said Mary.

Palm leaf (棕榈叶) fans were cheap and easy to make. Feather fans showed the owner’s high status (地位). Sandalwood (檀香) fans could send out sweet smell.
