我认为学生应该参加课后服务的英语作文Why Students Should Do After-School Activities
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to talk to you about why I think it's really important for kids like me to participate in after-school activities and programs. There are so many great reasons!
First of all, after-school activities are super fun! At my school, we have all sorts of cool clubs and activities to choose from. One of my favorites is the art club where we get to do all kinds of arts and crafts projects. I've made pottery, learned how to draw cartoons, and even built a little wooden car! It's a nice break from regular classes and homework.
Another club I'm in is the coding club where we learn about computers and programming. It's really neat to learn how to create games, apps and websites. I built a simple calculator program last semester! The coding club has definitely made me more interested in possibly becoming a computer programmer or software developer when I grow up.
I'm also on the school basketball team which practices a few times a week after classes end. Being on the team helps me stay
active and healthy instead of just sitting around at home. It's taught me about teamwork, discipline and perseverance too. We've had some tough losses but we always pick each other up.
After-school activities give me a chance to explore different interests and uncover new talents I didn't even know I had. For example, I randomly joined the drama club last year and discovered I really love acting! Who knew? I would have never found that out if I just went straight home every day after school.
In addition to being fun, after-school programs are educational in a different way than regular classes. Don't get me wrong, I love learning new things in subjects like math, science, and English too. But after-school is more hands-on, interactive learning through actually doing activities rather than just reading from a book or listening to a teacher talk.
For the engineering club, we get to design and build simple machines and structures using recycled materials. In the gardening club, we learn about plants, soil, and ecosystems by actually getting our hands dirty in the school's community garden. It's way more engaging than just studying that stuff through lectures and worksheets. The learning really sticks when you can apply it to real hands-on projects and activities.
After-school also gives me a chance to make new friends outside of my regular classes. I've met so many cool kids with similar interests through the Different clubs I'm in. My best friend Amy actually goes to a different elementary school, but we met through being in the same art club together. We may have never become friends if not for that after-school activity!
Some kids say after-school keeps them too busy and they'd rather just go home and relax after classes all day. I get that for sure, but I actually find that having after-school activities gives me more energy and makes me more productive overall. Instead of just vegging out at home watching TV or playing video games, I have productive things to do that keep me busy in a good way. Then when I get home in the evening I'm able to focus better on homework without getting bored or distracted.
It's true that sometimes I get overscheduled with too many after-school things at once. Last year I was juggling drama club, art club, coding club, and basketball which was definitely too much even for me! I had to drop a couple so I could find more balance. It's all about moderation and not taking on too much at once.
My parents have been really supportive of me doing
after-school activities. They like that it keeps me engaged in
positive ways instead of just sitting around. As long as I keep my grades up, they're happy for me to pursue my interests through the various clubs and programs. My mom actually wishes her school had more opportunities like this when she was a kid.
The only potential downside of after-school activities is they sometimes go a bit late into the evening, especially for sports teams that have games or practices. That can make it hard to get all my homework done some nights. But I've gotten better at time management and my teachers are usually pretty understanding. As long as I get things turned in the next day, it's okay.
Another good thing about after-school is it gives kids a safe, supervised place to go for a few hours between when school ends and when parents get off work. My parents both have jobs where they can't pick me up until 5 or 6pm some days. So it's nice for me to be somewhere productive and fun rather than just having to go home to an empty house.
Overall, I really think every student should take advantage of the after-school opportunities available. They allow you to explore interests beyond just academics, learn in interactive hands-on ways, make new friends, and keep yourselves engaged in positive activities. Staying productive and learning awesome
new skills is way better than just sitting around at home bored in my opinion! After-school is the best.。
