Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show?
The First Period Section A ( 1a–1c & 3a)
Teaching aims(教学目标)
1. 掌握有关的电视节目名称。

2. 能够用不同的词或者词组表达自己的爱好。

Language points(语言点)
1.要求掌握以下句式:Do you want to watch the news?
Yes, I do./No, I don’t
What do you think of talk shows?
I don’t mind them./I can’t stand them!/I love watching them!
2.要求掌握以下词汇:
1) 名词n. sitcom, news, soap opera
2) 动词v. plan, hope
(本节课的生词较少,而且单词的拼写比较简单,所以学生学起来不会感到困难,如果班级学生的水平较高,可以鼓励学生当堂掌握。


Difficulties(难点):掌握want /hope/plan 引导的不定式做宾语
熟练使用love/stand/don’t mind等词表达自己的爱好
Teaching steps(教学步骤)
1. Warm-up and revision(课堂热身和复习)
(1)Warm-up and lead in.(自由对话的形式开始课堂)
T: What do you do in your spare time?
S: I usually watch TV.
T: What do you usually watch on TV?
S: Game shows.
T: Can you tell me more about other TV shows?
(通过问题,让学生进行头脑风暴,复习学习过的相关电视节目表达并为下面的环节进行铺垫。


2. Presentation(呈现新知识)
T: Now, let's look at some pictures of TV shows on page 33.
(充分利用教材的图片,教师通过让学生欣赏不同的电视节目的图片,引出新知识,并让学生对电视节目的分类有清楚的认识。

看图片让学生呼出节目的名称,老师把这些电视节目的名称板书在在黑板上)
3. Work on 1a.
T: Match the TV shows with the pictures.
(教师可以四处走动,以帮助学生正确搭配在相关词组,也可以让学生发挥peer assessment 的作用)
4. Work on 1b.
T: Listen and number the shows [1-4】in the order you hear them.
(教师放录音,因为对话简单教师可以在放完一遍录音以后就订正答案)
T: Listen again and read after the tape.
(教师可以让学生看着听力材料跟读,让学生感知听力材料中表达观点的句子,为后面的对话做好铺垫准备。

充分利用听力材料的文本,标识关键词,强化输入。

5. Work on 1c.
T: Practice the conversation. Then make your own conversations.
(充分利用所提供的对话模式,强化输入,给学生pair work练习的时间,并让小组对话在全班展示)
6. Work on 3a.
T: Now, make a conversation and then practice it with a partner.
(为了强化,如何表达自己的喜好,把3a部分调整到此处。

此处是对Ic的进一步拓展和完善表述。


7. Act out
Have Ss come to the front and act out their conversation to the class.
(利用对话架构渐解式的对话形式,逐步提高学生的对话和发表自己意见的能力。


8. What do you think …?
T: Let’s take a look at some pictures on the screen and say what you think.
(这些图片都是精选的,设计到校规校纪,社会现象比如尊老爱幼,遵守红绿灯等。

通过方式,正面的引导同时也是结合了1c 的部分内容
9. Homework
Oral:
Listen, the read the conversation in 1b aloud.
Written:
Survey your parents about the kinds of TV shows they like to watch. Then write a short paragraph about their preferences.
(根据学生程度进行口语和书面作业的布置,同时结合了1c 的内容)
The Second Period Section A ( 2a–Grammar Focus & 3b-3c)
Teaching aims(教学目标)
1. 能够用不同的词或者词组表达自己的爱好。

2. 能够清晰的表达自己爱好的理由和计划。

3. 能够清晰的用不同的词语表达自己的计划。

Language points(语言点)
1.要求掌握以下句式:What do you plan/want/expect to watch tonight ?
I plan/want/expect to watch …
2.要求掌握以下词汇:
1) 名词n. joke, comedy, discussion
2) 动词v. happen, expect, may, find out
(本节课的生词较少,而且单词的拼写比较简单,所以学生学起来不会感到困难,如果班级学生的水平较高,可以鼓励学生当堂掌握。

T: What do Lin Hui and Sally think of TV shows? Listen to Lin Hui and Sally’s conversation. Number the TV shows [1-5】in the order you hear them.
(教师通过听力感知表达自己喜好的理由的表达方法以及表达角度.教师可以四处走动,以帮助学生校对,也可以让学生发挥peer assessment的作用)

3. Work on 2b.
T: Listen again. Complete the sentences.
(这个环节可以让学生再一次感知听力材料和训练听力技能,并且有助于提高听力技巧,比如速记法等。


4. Work on 2c.
Have Ss look at 2a and ask and answer questions about the TV shows. Encourage them to use
information that is true.
Have some pairs come to the front and present their questions and answers to the class.
5. Work on 2d.
T: Role-play the conversation.
充分利用所提供的对话模式,强化输入,并表示关键句,给学生充足的训练时间,并让小组对话在全班展示,展示的时候根据需要可以隐去一些关键的信息。


6. Work on 3b.
Answer these questions. Give answers that are true for you.
(提示学生利用听力材料比较好的表达方式,并结合自身给出真实的回答,尽量说出合理的理由)
7. Make a survey
T: Go around the classroom and ask your classmates questions and write their names in the chart. Remember to use “want/hope/expect/plan to do” in your questions.
这个教学环节的设计的主要目标是让学生综合应用前两节课所学的如何表达自己的喜好及其理由。

请强调在做报告时混合使用want/plan/expect/hope to do 表达计划。

The Third Period Section B ( 1a–1d & 4)

2. 能够掌握更多的电视节目名称。

2.要求掌握以下词汇:
1) 名词n. action movie, cartoon
2) 形容词adj. meaningless, enjoyable

T: What kind of TV shows and movies can you think of?

T: What can you use to describe them?
Have Ss look at the screen and get into groups of four. Then ask them to write as many adjectival words they can think of to describe TV shows and movies in five minutes. The group with the most words wins!

2. Work on 1a.
Choose words from the box and write them under the pictures. Each picture can have more than one word.

T: Listen and circle the description words you hear in the box in 1a.
4. Work on 1c.

Tell your partner what John and Mary like to watch and why. Then tell your partner what you like to watch and why.

Have Ss get into groups of four and ask each other about what they think of the TV shows or movies on the screen. Encourage them to use descriptive words (adjectives).

Teaching steps(教学步骤)
1. Warm-up
Have Ss look at 2a and get into groups of three or four to discuss the three questions.
(2) Let’s Meet Mickey!
(设计意图:由于阅读文章是以一个广为人知的卡通形象为核心的,此处将2a的读前活动稍作调整,先让学生观察图片,通过图片引发一系列有关卡通片,特别是有关米老鼠的问题,从而充分激活学生的背景知识,为后面的阅读活动做准备。


Have Ss read the passage in 2b quickly and scan for information. Then have Ss look at the screen and guess the main idea of the passage.

2. Work on 2b. Have Ss open their books again and skim through the passage one more time. Then, ask them to complete the time line on page 38.

3. Work on 2c.
Have Ss read the passage again and fill in the facts in the chart about Mickey.

The Fifth Period Section B (3a–Self Check)
Teaching aims(教学目标)
1. 通过所给影评的篇章框架尝试模仿影评写作。

要求掌握以下词汇:
1) 名词n. army
2) 动词词组.dress up, take sb’s place, do a good job
Teaching steps(教学步骤)
1. Review
(1)Have some pairs come to the front and present their discussion to the class.
(2) Check Ss’ answers for Activity 2e.
2. Work on 3a.
Fill in the blanks in the movie review. Use the words in the box to help you.
Next, have Ss look at the screen. Ask them to read through the passage in 3a again and answer the questions.

Write your movie review using the notes in 3b.
