Ⅲ.阅读理解
A
Here are a few tips we’ve put together to help you learn English well.
Speak,speak,speak!
Practise speaking as often as you can—even speaking to yourself is
good practice.
Try recording yourself whenever you can. Compare your pronunciation with the master version(版本),see how you can do better and have another go。

If you do this several times, you will find that each version is better than the last.
Why not learn with someone else?
It helps if you can learn with someone else. If you can persuade a friend or family member to study with you,it will make you keep working. Agree times to meet and set goals for the week, and test each other regularly。

Don’t get stock by a word you don't know.
Practise improvising(即兴的)ways of getting your meaning across when speaking spontaneously(本能地),even if you don’t know the exact words or phrases。

Think of things you might want to say whenever you have spare time。

A basic example is the use of tenses。

If you don’t know the past tense but want to talk about yesterday, use the verb in the present tense and use the word for “yesterday”。

Use facial expressions, hand movements, anything to get your meaning across.
Language learning is also about intuition(直觉).
Guesswork is an important strategy(策略)in learning a new language。

When listening to recorded material, you aren’t expected to understand everything first time round. If you play the same piece several times, you will most probably understand something new each time. Learn to make
maximum(最多的)use of all the clues(线索)you can pick up。

For example, what do the speakers sound like?Happy?Angry? Calm?etc。

Build up your vocabulary。

A wide vocabulary is the key to successful language learning but don’t try to learn too much at once。

It's best to study frequently, for short periods of time. Take a maximum of six or seven items of vocabulary and learn them。

Put them into sentences to fix them in your mind, then come back to them later. Much of the vocabulary in the course is presented by topic.
And above all,have fun!
36.Why should one have himself recorded when practicing speaking?
A. To improve his speaking。

B。

To record his own progress.
C. To speak better than his master。

D. To compare himself with others。

答案:A 细节理解题。

从Tip 1可知,录音的目的是为了通过对比而使自己的口语不断得到改进,B项则使其目的偏解为记载进步过程。

C项的干扰性在于master可作“老师”解,但master version (原版磁带)不同于master’s version(老师的录音版本)。

D项中的others与himself相对,指的是“人”而非文中的“master version”。

37.Which of the following is the most important in learning English?
A. Speaking。

B。

Pleasure. C。

Intuition。

D。

Vocabulary.
答案:B 细节理解题。

从最后一句可见答案。

above all即意为“首要的是”.其他三个选项在文中均有涉及,但难以用most形容.
38.It is implied in the passage that __________ is helpful when you are learning English。

A。

body language B。

a good memory
C. a good friend
D. a proper dictionary
答案:A 综合推理题。

根据Tip 3中最后一句即可作出正确推断。

B、D两项在文中查无依据,而C项是Tip 2中直接陈述的答案,不合题意。

39.According to the passage, one should __________ when learning English。

A. always work with other people
B. be able to guess everything new
C。

often review what he has learnt D. take little notice of grammar
答案:C 细节理解题.从Tip 5中“come back to them later"可知复习的必要性.另外三个选项中always, everything,little都属极端词汇,故一一排除。

40.Which of the following proverbs(谚语)doesn’t seem always true in learning a language in the writer’s opinion?
A。

Practice makes perfect。

B。

A good beginning is half done.
C。

Rome was not built in a day。

D。

Don’t run before you can walk.
答案:D 综合推理题.该题是推断题.A项之意可见于Tip 1中。

D 项含做事须“循序渐进"之意,而Tip 3并不要求人们学好每个需用的单词后再去开口,即可推断该谚语在此并不适用。

B、C两项在文中缺乏依据而排除.
B
People travel for a lot of reasons. Some tourists go to see battle fields or religious shrines(圣地).Others are looking for culture, or simply want to have their pictures taken in front of famous places。

But most European tourists are looking for a sunny beach to lie on.
Northern Europeans are willing to pay a lot of money and put up with a lot of inconveniences for the sun because they have so little of it。

People of cities like London,Copenhagen, and Amsterdam spend a lot of their winter in the dark because the days are so short, and much of the rest of the year in the rain。

This is the reason the Mediterranean has always attracted them. Every summer, more than 25 million people travel to Mediterranean resorts(胜地)and beaches for their vacation. They all come for the same reason: sun!
The huge crowds mean lots of money for the economies of Mediterranean countries。

Italy’s 30 000 hotels are booked solid(全部客满)every summer. And 13 million people camp out on French beaches, parks, and roadsides。

Spain’s long sandy coastline attracts more pe ople
than anywhere else。

37 million tourists visit yearly, or one tourist for every person living in Spain。

But there are signs that the area is getting more tourism than it can handle. The Mediterranean is already one of the most polluted seas on earth. An d with increased tourism, it’s getting worse。

The French can’t figure out what to do with all the garbage left by campers around St. Tropez。

And in many places, swimming is dangerous because of pollution.
None of this, however,is spoiling anyone’s fun。

The Mediterranean gets more popular every year with tourists。

Obviously, they don’t go there for clean water and loneliness。

They bear traffic jams and seem to like crowded beaches。

They don’t even mind the pollution。

No matter how dirty the water is,the coastline still looks beautiful。

And as long sun shines,it’s still better than sitting in the cold rain in Berlin,London,or Oslo。

41.The writer seems to mean that Europeans travel mostly for the reason that they __________。

A. want to see historic remains or religious spots
B. are interested in different cultural traditions and social customs
C. would like to take pictures in front of famous sites
D。

wish to escape from the cold, dark and rainy days at home
答案:D 由第二段“pay。

for the sun"得出。

42.In Paragraph 2,cities like London, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam
are mentioned to __________.
A. show that they are not good cities in terms of geography and climate
B。

tell us how wealthy their citizens are
C。

suggest that these cities lack places of historic interest and scenic beauty
D。

prove that they have got more tourism they can handle
答案:A 这些城市都是阴雨寒冷缺少阳光的地方。

43.According to the passage, which of the following countries attracts more tourism than the others?
A。

Italy. B。

Spain。

C。

France. D。

Greece。

答案:B 由第三段“Spain’s long sandy coastline attracts more people than anywhere else"得出。

44.The latter half of the last sentence in Paragraph 3“or one tourist for every person living in Spain” means __________.
A。

all the 37 million people living in Spain are tourists
B。

every year almost as many tourists visit Spain as there are people living in that country
C. every person living in Spain has to take care of a tourist
D。

every Spanish is visited by a tourist every year
答案:B 意为“有一位西班牙人就有一位游客”,说明游客之多。

45.According to the passage, which of the following factors might spoil the tourists’ fun at Mediterranean resorts and beaches?
A。

Polluted water. B. Crowded buses.
C. Traffic jams.
D. Rainy weather。

阅读表达
We all have dreams and desires, but real relatively few people have goals。

Strongly held wishes-“I want to be rich。

" or “I wish I were thinner。

”—do not qualify。

Though they begin as dreams, goals are specific objectives, attained only through concrete(具体的)action。

Here are the steps people have followed to achieve their dreams.
Define Your Objective。

Too often people set a difficult task, then 。

Goals should be focused on what is achievable。

Put It on Paper.Once you’ve defin ed your goal, write it down. High achievers trace their accomplishments to the time they committed their goals to paper。

Map Your Strategy. Breaking a goal down into bite—size pieces makes achieving it seem less challenging. A technique called backward planning consists of setting an objective and then retracing the steps needed to achieve it.
Set a Deadline. A goal is a dream with a deadline. Deadlines provide a time frame for action and get us moving in pursuit of our dreams。

Commit Yourself。

If you are really committed, you will make that goal a reality. Set an ambitious target and commit to it。

You’ll find you can rally(重整)resources you never thought you had。

Don’t Fear Failure. Usually,it’s the anticipation of failure that makes us stop, not failure itself。

We survive our failures. We pick ourselves up and try again. We have to。

Persist,Persist。

Along the way to any goal, you will be confronted with obstacles. Belief in yourself can help you fight against these setbacks。

It’s Never Too late. Age is not a barrier to achievement。

As we grow older and learn more, we gain confidence to take on new challenges。

Stop Using Cars
As the standard of living is getting higher, more and more people are buying cars。

__________
______________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ _______
答案:
Stop Using Cars!
As the standard of living is getting higher, more and more people are buying cars. It seems that the car has become an important part of our life. Some people even think that they can't live without it。

But I think the car is a great burden rather than a tool for us.It’s very expensive to buy a car.Besides, you'll spend a lot of money repairing the cars. And you’ll find it hard to find a parking place because more and more people are buying cars. What's more, cars can cause air pollution and accidents。

Indeed it is quick. But do you think it can save your time in rush hours? In my opinion, cars bring us more trouble than convenience. Stop using cars, and we’ll have a better life。
