Technology is everywhere. In fact, almost all of us carry some piece of technology with us every time we leave the house. What I always forget, though, is just how useful and powerful technology can be when we want to help others.
There is not a single room in my house that does not have some electronic devices (设备). Whenever I am at home, I am almost always using at least one electronic device. If you walk into my living room on any given day, you will find that, first, I have the television on. At the same time, I usually have my laptop resting on my knee, or I am using my mobile phone. Even when I'm not at home, I am always using my phone, and at work or in cafés, I sit down and connect to the local wireless network on my laptop.
I must say that I waste a lot of time on the computer and the time I spend on it could be much better spent if I were to take up a little online volunteering.
Recently I discovered just how much online volunteering there is to do in the world. From using your language skills to do translations, to developing and managing projects and helping with IT work, there is so much that so many people can do to help people in their own countries and across the world. The United Nations, in fact, has a huge page with “Volunteers Recruited” on its website.
This work can support the poor and help charities who cannot pay for staff members. Many organizations only require you to work an hour a week — some even less. And the support provided by online volunteers can really help make a difference to those in need.
( )6. From Paragraph 2, we can know that the writer ______.
A.uses technology a lot B.works in a café
C.is a computer engineer D.likes modern music
( )7. The underlined word “Recruited” probably means ______ in Chinese in Paragraph 4.
A.预订B.招募
C.安排D.警告
()8. In the writer's opinion, people should spend more time______with technology.
A.working on computer programs B.keeping the Internet safe
C.inventing electronic products D.helping people in need
( )9. Which of the following is true?
A.The writer is always too busy to help others.
B.There is a single room in the writer's house that has some electronic devices.
C.The writer can make use of some time to take up a little online volunteering.
D.Many organizations only require volunteers to work an hour a day.
( )10. What can be the best title for the passage?
A.Website Design. B.Internet Organizations.
C.Online Volunteering. D.Online Translation.

According to a recent survey, about 52% of WeChat users aged 18 to 29 block their parents on WeChat Moments, also known as “Friends' Circle”, which allows users to share everything they like with their WeChat friends.
My parents don't know Moments very well, and I have told them I don't use it any more. I just need some private space and don't like it when they keep asking me about the things I have shared on Moments.
— Lu Zhiping, 21 years old
I don't block my parents completely. They are in a certain group in which I only share positive (正面的) posts. I just don't want my parents to worry about me. Last year my parents saw a Moments picture of my hand getting burned while cooking. It was nothing serious but they traveled all the way to my city to make sure I was all right.
— Xie Yun, 26 years old
The survey also found that more than 49% of Chinese parents use WeChat as a main way to communicate with their children. Nearly 36% of them check every post made by their children.
When asked what they would do about being blocked, some parents said they would have a conversation with their children to find out the reason, while others said they wouldn't care.
And some parents are smarter than their kids in this hide-and-seek (捉迷藏) game online. “I didn't realize I was blocked until I compared what I could see on my phone with what my son's aunt could see,” said Chen, a mother of a 27-year-old son.“I chose to remain silent on this and now I'm following my son's posts through his aunt.”

Some of children block their parents on WeChat Moments. I don't think it is proper because WeChat Moments can help parents understand our ways of looking at things.
As for me, I do communicate with my parents. However, it is always about my study.
I hope we can share more about our daily life.
In my opinion, for better communication with our parents, first of all, we should try to listen to them carefully and understand what they mean. What's more, we should try not to be upset or angry but just to let them know how we feel. Only in this way can we improve our communication with our parents.。
