I Teaching aims
1.Make students can read and write the words: ship, tools, guns…fluently and
correctly.
2.Make students can know the main content about the story of Robinson Crusoe.

1.Improve Ss’ reading ability by fast reading.
2.Improve Ss’ reading ability by careful reading.

1.Finish the reading exercises correctly.
2.Improve Ss’ thinking ability by brainstorm and other activities.
3.How to retell the passage in Ss’ own words.
III Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up
1.Ask Ss some questions:
1)Do you like reading?
2)Have you ever read fairy tales?
3)Have you ever read Grimm’s Fairy Tales?
2.After some Ss give their answers, I show a picture of The Little Red Riding Hood.
I ask Ss whether they know the girl.
3.After Ss give their answers, I let Ss try to imagine, if the Little Red Riding Hood
is sent to an isolated island, what will happen to her?
4.Give Ss one question to think about, what are the dangers she will meet? Then
invite some of them to share their ideas.
5.Give Ss another question to think about, what does she need on an island? Then
invite some of them to share their ideas.
6.Share Ss about my opinions on the necessary thing for someone who lives on an
island—fire.
Step 2 reading
1.Pre-reading
Ask Ss some Qs about Robinson Crusoe.
1)Why does he go to the island?
2)Does he have any difficulties on the island?
3)Does he learn to live on the island with some useful things?
2.Play a short video about Robinson.
After watching it, ask Ss two Qs. 1. Does he have any difficulties on the island?2. Does he learn to live on the island with some useful things? In this way, Ss learn about why Robinson came to the island and if Robinson learn to live on the island.
3.Learn the new words. (Let Ss read the new words after the teacher.)
4.Fast reading.
Let Ss read the passage quickly in 3 minutes. Then let Ss answer 3 Qs.
What does Robinson Crusoe wait for?
What does Robinson Crusoe get from the ship?
Why does Robinson Crusoe call the man Friday?
5.Careful reading.
1) Let Ss read the first paragraph carefully, then do some T or F exercises.
Robinson found a boat on the island. F

Step 3 Retell the story
Show the pictures from the video, let Ss try to retell the content of each picture. In this way, Ss can retell the story more directly.
Step 4 Free talk
1. Give Ss a certain situation. Suppose there are 4 people on the island. They are a
businessman, a sportsman, a teacher, a beggar. But only one can be chosen to leave the island. Let Ss talk about these two Qs.
1)Which is the best person you will choose? Show us your reasons.
2) What are the things you will let him/her bring?

3. Provide some useful sentence models for Ss to use in their free talk.
