1 .The General Idea of This Module
This module mai nly deals with the In ternet and kno wledge of the telem un icati ons. Nowadays information is playing a more and more important part in society, economic life and many other fields. A lot of people make friends and chat with others by means of the Intern et. They make friends not only with the local people, but also with people who e from China and other countries. The telemunications isnecessary
in our daily life. Every day we muni cate with each other by teleph on es, cell phones and so on. Besides, in this module we are going to lear n some words, expressi ons and sentence patter ns on the Internet and telem uni cati ons. As far as the grammar is concerned, we are going to learn the formation of pound words and the usage of the definite article and zero article. In terms of pronunciation, the students will learn to stress important information in a dialogue. Of course by finishing learning
this module and through practici ng, the stude nts are required to improve their abilities of listening,
speaking, reading and writing. Besides, the students should
a_so icarn some Etiritcgics learning.
INTRODUCTION
Three activities have been designed in this part. It introduces some words and expre ssi ons and their mcEiiiings on the lilt cruet. Stude nts are required to be familiar with these words and expressi ons so that they can have a further study of this module.
READING AND VOCABULARY
This part mainly introduces the Internet, the setting up of the Internet to us.
It also deals with the World Wide Weband the invention of it. The students are asked to know someth ing about the Internet and have a kno wledge of the World Wide Web by readi ng the paragraph. Post Read ing and the desig ning of the activities aim at helpi ng stude nts test if they get the releva nt in formatio n correctly or if they help
them un dersta nd the in formati on further.
GRAMMAR 1
This sect ion in troduces kno wledge of word formatio n: the buildi ng of pound nouns. The stude nts are asked to know the formati on of the three types of pound nouns and
rhe 匚consol i da to the knowledge by doing somu cxurciscs in Activity 1 und Acti vity
2.
LISTENING AND VOCABULARY
We will plete the exercises on multiple choice and discussi on by liste ning to a TV in terview.
The liste ning material aims at practici ng the stude nts ' liste ning skills and prehe nsion.
PRONUNCIATION
This sect ion supplies a short dialogue, aiming at making the stude nts un dersta nd that words of important information should properly be stressed in a specific situati on.
GRAMMAR 2
This sect ion mai nly reviews the usage of articles by carry ing out the four
activities which have bee n desig ned.
WRITING
This sect ion requires the stude nts to read the short essay deali ng with the
advantages of Internet. And then the students are asked to write a short paragraph giving the opposite view according to the words and expressions given. Besides, the paragraph should deal with the importanee of the help of the teachers and cooperation among the classmates.
SPEAKING AND READING
Lear n several pound nouns about the telem uni cati ons. Read a short paragraph about mobile pho nes. In vestigate the nu mber of stude nts who use mobile phones in the class. Fin ally discuss the questi ons give n.
FUNCTION
Review the express ing methods of perce ntages and nu mbers.
EVERYDAY ENGLISH
This part mainly reviews the monly used sentence patter ns of shopp ing.
CULTURAL CORNER
Get to know that people send text messages by mobile pho nes, and get to know
the phuno^icnca of using a series of sy^ibo 1 s to show h(jw they feel and how t(j express emoti ons. these stude nts are able to an swer the releva nt questi ons.

Work in groups of two or more to desig n a poster, i ntroduci ng the use of the
Intern et.
