Because Sue was away on holiday abroad, Mathew was very happy. Expecting all day to relax, he was thinking if he should read the newspaper or watch his favorite TV talk show on his first day off in months. “It’s a piece of cake,” he said to his wife. “I’ll take care of our children, and you can pay a visit to your mother.”
Things worked well at first, but just after 8 o’clock, his three little “nice children”—Tom, John, and Jack—came downstairs in their night clothes
and cried out “Is breakfast ready, daddy.” When food had not e to the table within 30 seconds, John started using his silver spoon on Jack’s head as if it were a drum. Jack began to shout loudly in time exactly to the beat(节拍). Tom chanted “I cannot find my bread, where is it?” in the background. Mathew realized his newspaper would have to wait for a few seconds.
Life was getting worse and worse after their breakfast. Tom wore John’s underwear on his head. John shut himself in the bathroom, and at that moment Jack cried out again because he was going to wet his trousers. None of the three could find clean socks, although all the socks were just before their very eyes. Someone named “Not Me” had spilled a whole glass of orange juice into the basket of clean clothes. Mathew knew the talk show had already started.
By 10 o’clock, things were much worse, and later even out of control. Jack was just wondering why the fish in the jar didn’t eat his bread and butter. Tom was showing off his talent by decorating the kitchen wall with his color pencils. John, thankfully, appeared to be reading quietly in the family room, but closer examination showed that he was eating apple jam straight from the bottle with his hands. Mathew realized that the talk show was over and reading would be impossible.

An increasing number of health, hunger, and sustainable (可持续的)agriculture groups today announced plans for Food Day-a nationwide campaign to change the way Americans eat and think about food. This nationwide campaign will encourage Americans around the United States to sponsor or participate in activities that encourage Americans to “eat real”and support healthy, affordable food grown in a sustainable, humane way.
Organizers expect Food Day inspires American people to hold tens of thousands of events in schools, college campuses, houses of worship and even in private homes aimed at fixing America’s food system. A Food Day event could be as small as a parent organizing a vegetable identification contest at a kindergarten class-or as massive as a rally(集会)in a city park, with entertainment and healthy food. farmers than huge agribusiness operations.
·Expanding access to food and alleviating(缓解) hunger. Far too many Americans don’t know where their next meal is ing from, or have access(方法) to fresh produce in their neighborhood.
·Reforming factory farms to protect animals and the environment. Farming of animals can and should be done without cruelty, and without degrading the quality of life.

When we talk about a library, we may think of shelves and shelves lined with books. But a new library set to open this fall in Texas won’t have any books ---- at least not the kind you can leaf through..
There will be 10,000 digital books available for loan(借出)in the BiblioTech library in Bexar County, Texas. About 1.7 million county residents will be able to check out the books online without leaving their homes. The library will also provide 100 e-readers for people to borrow. In the library, people can work, study and access the Internet using dozens of puter stations.
“We wanted to find a cheap, effective way to bring reading and learning to the county and also focus on the change in the world of technology,”Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, the man who started the project, told reporters.
Digital-only academic libraries already exist in the US. The University of Texas at San Antonio opened the first in xx, and officials say it’s been a success. Many public libraries even offer digital books in addition to paper copies. But Biblio Tech will be the country’s first pletely paperless public library system. Tucson, Arizona, and Newport Beach, California, attempted to open bookless public libraries in xx and xx, respectively, but both ended up offering paper books after public outcry.
However, Residents of Tucson and Newport Beach lived close to libraries and could easily get to them. Many areas of Bexar County, on the other hand, lack public libraries, so residents don’t have easy access to books. Wolff hopes Biblio Tech
will solve that problem.
Critics argue against digital-only libraries, saying many people prefer to see and hold actual books. Some say books with pictures, such as children’s books and how-to books, work better than digital books. Others say people who aren’t fortable with technology won’t be able to use the paperless libraries. They also point out that many digital books are not available for libraries to purchase for their collections.
But supporters of digital libraries say these institutions will make books available to more people, like the residents of Bexar County. Wolff himself, who collects print books, says he doesn’t intend paperless libraries to replace traditional ones, but to exist alongside them. “People are always going to want books,” he says. “But the world is changing.”
71. Wolff hopes to open more paperless libraries across the country, if Biblio Tech
succeeds .What do we know about the Biblio Tech library?
A. The first 10,000 people can read the digital books for free.
B. It will provide about 1.7 million digital books for the readers.
C. People can read the digital books at the library or at home.
D. It won’t provide the loan service for people out of Texas
72. From Paragraph 4, we can infer that __________.
A. Officials in the US helped build the digital-only academic libraries.
B. The first digital-only academic library opened in 2002 in the US
C. Other attempts at opening digital-only public libraries have failed.
D. The University of Texas once tried to open a bookless public library.
73. What does the underlined part “that problem” in Paragraph 5 refer to?
A. People in Bexar County can’t read books easily.
B. Tucson and Newport Beach lack public libraries.
C. There aren’t digital libraries in Bexar County.
D. Residents aren’t fortable with technology.
74. What are the reasons why critics are opposed to digital-only libraries?
a. Some people enjoy seeing and possessing printed books.
b. Books with pictures work better than digital ones.
c. Some people aren’t good at using the Internet.
d. The prices of some digital books are too high.
A. abd
B. abc
C. acd
D. bcd
75. From what Wolff said in Paragraph 7, we learn that __________ .
A. The future of print books is controlled by readers
B. Digital books will take the place of print ones soon
C. People will lose their interest in reading books in the future
D. Paperless libraries and the traditional ones should coexist

[1]Each person has a dream and he (or) she obeys the rule that if you can dream it, you can achieve it! Here are four goals for persons to reach a perfect life in their future.
[2]The 1st goal that is mon to us all is health and energy. We all want to be healthy and fit, to have high levels of energy and to live free of pain and illness. Today, with the incredible advances in medical science, the quality of our health and fitness, and our lifespan, is largely determined by design, not by chance. People with excellent health habits are far healthier, have more energy, and live longer and better than people who have poor health habits. Remember that health is not everything, but without health everything is nothing!

You want to be able to get and keep the job you want, to get paid more and promoted faster. You want to earn the very most that is possible for you at each stage of your career, whatever you do.
[5]The 4th goal we all have in mon is to achieve financial independence. You want to reach the point in life where you have enough money so that you never have any financial worries. You want to be pletely free of them. You want to be able to order dinner in a restaurant without referring to the price listing to determine what you want to eat.

As science and technology is developing, the climate has been getting warmer and warmer in recent years. To stop global warming we should take some immediate measures.
First, it is believed that saving energy is an effective solution to the problem. For example, turn off the lights, the TV, the puter and so on, if we are not using them, and walk or ride a bike instead of using vehicles when possible.
Second, reducing the amount of waste gases and polluted water is another way to protect the earth. People are used to throwing bottles and plastic bags everywhere. Factories pour polluted water directly into the river and heavy smoke into the air. They are harmful to our earth.
We therefore must act now, and we must act globally. However difficult it may be in the short term, we must keep doing it.
