Guilin is a famous tourist destination in China, known for its stunning natural scenery and unique karst landscape. Last summer, my family and I had the opportunity to visit Guilin, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
We arrived in Guilin on a sunny day, and as soon as we stepped out of the airport, we were greeted by the fresh mountain air and the beautiful scenery of the Li River. Our first stop was the Reed Flute Cave, a natural limestone
cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites that have been formed over thousands of years. The colorful lights inside the cave made the formations look even more magical, and we were all in awe of the beauty of nature.
The next day, we took a cruise down the Li River, which is famous for its picturesque landscape of karst mountains and crystal-clear waters. As we sailed along the river, we saw traditional bamboo rafts floating by, fishermen casting their nets, and water buffalo grazing by the riverbank. It
was like something out of a painting, and we couldn't believe we were actually there experiencing it firsthand.
One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Longji Rice Terraces, also known as the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. The terraces are a marvel of engineering and agriculture, with each terrace carefully carved into the side of the mountain to create a stunning mosaic of green rice paddies. We hiked up to the highest point and were rewarded with a panoramic view of the terraces stretching out as far as the eye could see. It was a sight that took our breath away and made us appreciate the hard work and dedication of the farmers who tend to the terraces year-round.
In the evenings, we explored the bustling night markets of Guilin, where we sampled local delicacies like Guilin rice noodles, stuffed snails, and osmanthus wine. We also watched traditional cormorant fishing performances, where fishermen use trained birds to catch fish in the river. It was a unique and fascinating experience that gave us a glimpse into the local culture and customs.
As our trip came to an end, we all agreed that Guilin was one of the most beautiful places we had ever visited. The natural beauty, rich history, and warm hospitality of the people made our trip truly special, and we left with memories that would last a lifetime. Guilin will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we hope to return someday to explore more of its wonders.。
