Four Wonderful Places to Sleep Under the Stars This Summer You don’t have to pull your sleeping bags out of the room to spend a night sleeping outside this summer—these choices offer plenty of luxury, without missing stars.
◆ Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Los Cabos, Mexico
This excellent resort may just be the most beautiful of all. Designed with striking white buildings around a breathtaking oceanfront infinity pool, it gives couples the opportunity to sleep under the stars on their private rooftop. Waiters
set up a bed for the evening, complete with snacks, wine, and even fresh flowers, so you can gaze up at the famously clear Baja sky.
◆ SeaDream Yacht Club, Caribbean or Mediterranean
The two personal 112-passenger ships have nine Balinese-style day beds on the top deck and, at night, the line equips them out with sheets and blankets so that passengers can sleep outside as the ship sails to its next destination. Our advice: Ask for the far forward one for the most privacy.
◆ AKA Central Park, New York City
This tiny hotel goes all out with their great package, setting up a queen-size bed on a platform in front of a wood-burning fireplace with candles, all on the 17th floor of the hotel with views of the surrounding skyscrapers. In addition to a lovely bed, they also provide pajamas, a telescope, and a photographer to document the night.
◆Ladera, St. Lucia, Caribbean
While this resort isn’t exactly “under the stars,” the 37 suites (套房) do have only three walls, leaving the fourth open to the air. Best of all, all of the beds are wrapped in mosquito netting (removing your worries about mosquito-borne diseases) and some rooms have lovely private pools from which you can watch the night sky for shooting stars.

This week I rescued two little cats from a home where the family could not take care of them. This was something I was not planning on doing, but I am happy I have got two lovely gifts by accident.
A single morn with three boys and a baby girl posted on Facebook she could not afford to take care of them and was going to take them in twenty four hours to the Humane Society. I just happened to see the post and live in her city. I felt a pull in my heart and made the visit and feel in love with the little cats.
The little cats were so scared of her little boys as well. The little cats were “free”, but I donated money for the little cats, so the mother would see that I cared and wanted them to go to a good home. When I saw her situation my heart broke. My mother was a single mom of three, so I could completely understand her struggles.
I took the little cats home and within two days the little cats were purring (呜呜叫) constantly and appeared so happy— a win for all. I was actually a little lonely and have been missing my kitty cats for years before thinking someday I will find another cat, so I feel the universe gave me a gift.

The tobacco industry in India is fighting a new government rule for cigarette containers, or packages. The new rule requires cigarette makers to print large warnings that include images, on cigarette packages.
Those in the tobacco industry say the measure will hurt the business of more than 45 million farmers. They also say it will lead to an increase in the sale of illegal cigarettes. Health officials say tobacco causes about 1 million deaths a year in India.
One point-of-view: Tobacco industry
Representatives from the tobacco industry feel hopeful about the petitions (请愿) in the fight over the rule. The Tobacco Institute of India represents large tobacco companies. The group placed large advertisements in newspapers the day after the court ruled.
The advertisements note that the United States does not require such picture warnings. The ads also state that current warnings, such as the words “Smoking Kills,” are enough to discourage people from smok ing.
Tens of thousands of tobacco sellers and farmers are also protesting the new rules. They say they are worried about the effects the new warnings will have on tobacco sales.
Another point-of-view: Health advocates
Health advocate in India say they are happy with the ruling. They have long pushed for stronger warnings on packaging. Half of the population in India is under
the age of 25. And many people cannot read. As a result, health advocates believe the images may work better words of warning.

Solar power technology could help to reduce deaths caused by household pollution. Pollution trapped inside homes and other buildings kills more than 4 million people
each year. Most of these deaths are in the developing world, mainly in Africa. Many people die as a result of breathing smoke or from cooking over wood or coal-powered stoves. One way to reduce the number of deaths is through cooking equipment powered by the sun.
Crosby Menzies is a solar power expert with SunFire Solutions, a South African company. He described his latest solar cooker, called the “So l-4.” “It is four square meters of mirrors, six to eight meters in length. It is quite a large cooker. We are very pleased to have built the first one in South Africa.”
Solar cookers work by reflecting light from the sun off large mirrors. The mirrors direct the light at a cooking pan. Then the light heats the pan with solar energy. The solar cooker can boil water in just four minutes. That is as fast as cooking with natural gas or electricity.
Menzies noted that people can prepare meals without having to collect firewood or spend money on coal. Above all, such individuals would be less likely to develop breathing disorders from harmful smoke.
Since the Sol-4 is so large, it is not the kind of model that you want to move around too often. It is best set up in a permanent place where large groups gather, like a school or home for older adults. At present, the cooker only works when the sun is shining. But engineers are working on way to make it work without sunlight.
Each cooker about $ 2,000, which is a large amount of money for most Africans. To solve that problem, Crosby Menzies has created a non-governmental organization called Solar Cookers for Africa. It plans to raise money through donation to provide poor people with solar cooking equipment.
32. What do you know about the solar cooker from Paragraph 2?
A. Its price.
B. Its advantages.
C. Its weight.
D. Its size.
33. What’s the biggest benefit of the solar cooker?
A. Healthy.
B. Cheap.
C. Powerful.
D. Convenient.
34. How will Crosby promote the solar cooker?
A. By reducing its price.
B. By collecting donations.
C. By giving away products for free.
D. By asking other organizations to pay.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Household Pollution Causes Many Deaths Yearly.
B. Solar Cooker Reduces Smoke Pollution Deaths.
C. People in Africa Like a New Kind of Cooker.
D. Solar Cooker Fails to Work Without Sunlight.

When we do the same movements with our bodies over and over again, we overuse some muscles. And that overuse can lead to strain and injury. Sometimes those problems can come from doing sports. 36 Staring down at your phone or tablet for long periods of time puts great tension on your neck. 37 Muscle tension linked to hand-held technology has become such a common condition that it now has a name: tech neck.
Common symptoms of tech neck are neck pain, loss of feeling in your hands and fingers, headaches—both mild and severe—and poor posture. In the worst cases of tech neck, you can lose the strength in your hands and fingers.
38 Experts at the website Spine Universe recommend these three neck stretches.
1. Chin (下巴) Stretch.
Move your chin towards your chest. Hold for 5 seconds. The stretch should feel comfortable from your neck to the base of your skull. Repeat 10 times.
2. Side Lean.
Lean your head to the right. Bring your ear close to the shoulder. Hold for 20 seconds. Bring your head back to center, and then lean it to the left, again holding for 20 seconds. 39
