Specific purpose: To inform my audience about the origions, events, and philosophy of the Specific Olympics. Central Idea: The Special Olympics gives people who are mentally or physically challenged a chance to experience athletic competition. Main points: 1. The Special Olympics was founded in 1968 to promote fitness for the mentally or physically challenged. 2. Held locally every year and internationally every four years, the Special Olympics has sports events similar to those in the Olympic Games. 3. Although medals are awarded, the Special Olympics stresses effort and participation rather than winning.
…At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day.
