Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd launched "mini apps" on Monday, which let users interact with app-like services within its instant messaging app WeChat, without having to download and install them.
国内互联网巨头腾讯公司于1月9日发布“小程序”，可以让用户无需下载和安装便可在微信内互动使用各类程序服务。

Users just need to scan the QR code or search from their WeChat accounts to open these apps, where they could book tickets or do shopping, Tencent said.
腾讯表示，用户只需在微信中通过扫描二维码或搜索的方式打开这些程序，享受订票或在线购物服务。

微信创始人张小龙给出的定义是：“小程序”（mini apps）是一个不需要下载安装就可使用的应用（apps that can be accessed without downloading），它实现了应用触手可及的梦想，用户扫一扫或者搜一下即可打开应用。

也体现了用完即走的理念，用户不用关心是否安装太多应用的问题。

应用将无处不在，随时可用，但又无需安装卸载。

不用下载安装即可使用的这个特性对一些手机内存有限的用户来说自然是个福音，同时，小程序没有订阅关系（no subscription），没有粉丝（no followers），不能推送消息（no notifications），不能做游戏（no access to games），也不能在朋友圈分享（cannot be shared on Moments）。

微信团队称，这背后的潜台词是：当用户想不起来你是谁，你在哪儿的时候，拜托你不要出现。
