Let’s try to save our planet.
Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. There were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited. Today things are different. The world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources, and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive. more and more people have realized these problems.
As middle school students , Can each one of us help save the environment ? some of my classmates are interested in this topic. get together to discuss the question.
A; well I think the environment is one of one biggest worries. you know….. like the pollution in big cities, and the rainforests disappearing and um…..
B: yes I agree , and saving it is important too. I’m just not sure if there is much we can do about it.
C: oh, I don’t think so. There are many things we can do it. little things make our world better!Have you guys ever heard of the three Rs?
A: Yes I've heard of them! Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, is it? Reduce energy using , Recycle papers, plastics, bottles, glass, and reuse papers, or other materials!
A: like what?
C: well, we can make donations, or we can help out, for example, we can help to set up events to teach people about looking after the environment.
B: sure we can, but this is all just making speeches and raising money, isn’t it? What I mean is, there’s noting we can actually do. I think governments not people , need to fix the problem. A: I understand .what you are saying, but actually I don’t agree. There are so many .things each one of us can do every day. Like cutting down on waste,
C: we can save water. Water is the source of life. No water, no life. So it's very important for us to do so. Not only should we protect drinking water and stop polluting it, but also make full use of it. Save electricity. It is crucial. We can't imagine what the life will be like without it. Everyone should do his best to save electricity. Don't forget to turn off lights or other electric machines when we finish working. and we can recycle trash and ……
C: that’s right. You know, it was fount out that a lot of air pollution is actually caused but ordinary people , not just by big factories. For example, when we use too many plastic bags for shopping, we are harming the environment.
A: and you know what? Many things that help the environment
can help us too. Using less energy or water saves us money. And eating more natural food, like fruit and vegetables, so much healthier than eating processed food like hamburgers.
B: still, it’s hard to see how small things like this will help. You see, if I volunteer in a hospital, I really feel I am taking part in helping, but the environment is so huge. I just don’t see what one people can do.
C: Hey, that kind of thinking makes me sad, if everybody believes they can make a difference , the situation will get better. A: yes, our planet is not like a hospital, or even a country, is it? It belongs to everyone and everyone should be taking caring of it and trying to save it.
B: that’s very true.
The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it or ourselves and for our later generations
let’s get started. Try our best. Our home will become better and better.。
