A Sample Essay

My Job in an Apple Plant

In the course of working in my way through school, I have taken many jobs I would rather forget. I have spent nine hours a day lifting heavy automobiles and truck batteries off the end of an assembly belt. I have risked the loss of eyes and fingers working a punch press in a textile factory. I have served as a ward aide in a mental hospital, helping care for brain-damaged men who would break into violent fits at unexpected moments. But none of these jobs was as dreadful as my job in an apple plant. The work was physically hard; the pay was poor; and most of all, the working conditions were dismal.

雅思口语题库part2话题范文之:Describe a good parent you know(好的父母)Describe a good parent you knowYou should say:Who the parent isHow you know the parentWhat the parent looks likeAnd explain why you think the parent is good1.适用人群:全适用2.主题:史密斯夫妇3.故事线:史密斯夫妇,好莱坞最受欢迎的两位家长。

Parents are the most important people in any ones life and my parents are the most important for me. But, I think when it comes to talking of people I know and believe they are truly good parents, I think the names that comes to my mind is that of Will Smith and Jaden Smith. These are the two most popular parents of the Hollywood industry and have raised some beautiful kids.Sadly, I have never been able to meet them in real life but I haveseen enough of their interviews with others and sometimes with their children, explaining how they raise their kids and the kind of values they imbibe in them. The reason I think they are great parents because they did taught their children things which I think everyone should teach their kids. One of them is experiment. They have asked their kids to experiment with their passions and the other things that they love. In a particular interview, Jaden talks to her child and says that it is very important for you to love yourself because it is only when you love yourself that you can go about and fall in love with someone else and that is how the world falls in love with you.In one interview, Will Smith talks of how for you to be able to create a wall it is very important for you to be able to put that one brick perfectly and that is how life is lived. I think these are some great lessons that are taught and the way they live, I believe they are truly great parents.I believe to be a good parent requires you to be great individuals first. Because a child often learn more by what he or she sees than what he or she is told to do. Apart from that the one thing which I believe truly separates normal parents from the great parents, is the trust they have on their child and his or her potential. It surely takes lot of love and more important trust ones own upbringing to be able to trust the childcompletely.I believe it is only when a child is trusted and told that he or she is trusted that the true nature of the child evolves.雅思口语话题part2范文:亲友聚会处(a place you often visit with your friends or family)Describe a place where you often visit with your friends or familyYou should say:Where the place isHow you know the placeHow you go thereWhy you want to visitToday, I’m going to share with you a place where I usually/often go to relax/read and write/ hang out with my friends, which is a small café/restaurant near my company/my house named “ABC”As a full-time employee/student, I have to go to work/ school 5 days a week; therefore, the only time that I can visit this place is on weekends.I always try to make time for my little trip to “ABC” café every Saturday or Sunday. The coffee house is located on a quiet street with a lot of trees planted on both sides. . A person u admireA successful peopleThe most important moment you late forAdvertisementA gift you gave to othersA lux stuff you wanna buyOne thing you missed beforeMusicA suggestionCollectionsA happy eventI knew Beyonce since the year 2005 when I was a sophomore. The first time I saw her music video, I was totally blown away by her powerful vocal, vigorous, perfectly executed dance moves! Beyonce has numerous hits such as "Déjà Vu", "Irreplaceable" "Beautiful Liar Single Ladies, Crazy in Love etc.Beyonce’s music is ge nerally contemporary R&B, but she also incorporates pop, funk, hip hop, and soul genres into her work.BEE possesses a wide vocal range that spans more than three octaves. No one—not R. Kelly, not Usher, to say nothing of her rival pop divas—can match Beyoncé's genius for dragging her vocal lines against a hip-hop beat. Even when she's coasting, she soars above her imitators. It's all in her voice—a superhuman instrument capable of punctuating any beat with goose-bump-inducing whispers or full-bore diva-roars. Smitten, scorned, amorous, antagonistic—Beyoncé sings from all of these vantage points with undeniable virtuosity. In the year 2009, Beyonce started her second world tou r “I am Sasha Fierce…”, I got the chance to watch her concert in Beijing. It was one of the unforgotten moments I have ever had in my life. She was sexy, seductive and provocative when performing on stage as the music videos, showcased her powerful vocals without missing a note, often while engaged in vigorous, perfectly executed dance moves. The concert was like a super big party, over 15,000 people in the stadium. People were singing, screaming and dancing all the time. Beyonce brought her all-female tour band Suga Mama, which includes bassists, drummers, guitarists, horn players and keyboardists, which is one of the reasons I admire her so much. She brings her band every single time when she performs, even just sing a solo and she say thank you to her band on the stage every single time after the performance. She is so talented and humble. She certainly proved that she is one of the most exciting and talented performers around and may well go down in history as such. All her success comes from not only talent and hard-working. Her hard-working is well-known. This is another major reason that I like her. I am always encouraged and inspired by watching her music videos and listening to her songs. She is a legend. 2. Your favourite teacher in ur childhoodFriendSomeone who helped youSomeone who speaks EnglishA walkA teacher in your childhoodThe most impressed thing in your childhoodSubject in high schoolI would like to talk sth about one of my private English teacher and also my friend, Sophia. She was my sister’s classmate in an American University, and came to china with my sister in summer vacation. I was a little child with curiosity about everything. I often went for them and asked what America was like. She is informative cuz she can answer all my questions patiently when my sister was busy with other things, and also tell me a lot of interesting stories about other countries. She has been to many places like France, uk in Europe and definitely America. She can speak not only English, French, but a little Chinese, Japanese. We often go out together, she took photos everywhere and she is enthusiasm to anyone and energetic anytime, it seems there are no such words like shy and tired in her dictionary. During the time she stayed here, she taught me a lot of experience when she learnt foreign languages and trained me with my oral English and writing. To some extent, she is my private English teacher for free. After a few weeks, she went to Japan and now she’s become a real English teacher in china but not here. She is not only my teacher but an elder friend. We still often chat on the internet and she ask me to go abroad studying or travelling to know more about other different places all over the world. It is really a good advice for me. I still remember her words” The world is waiting for you.”3. CelebrationA movieThere are many traditional festivals in China and of the most important ones is the Mid-autumn festival, which is a day for family reunion in China because we highly value the idea of strong family ties. This festival is on the 15th of August according to the Chinese lunar calendar. On that day, many people will go back home as they finish their work or study. One of the family members will cook fabulous food and they have dinner together. After the dinner, they will take their tables and chairs out and sit under a tree to enjoy the full moon, which most of the time is extremely bright on that day. At the same time, they will have some fresh fruits such as grapes, and the most important traditional food-moon cakes. In China, we celebrate this festival because of a legend. We believe that there wasa girl names Chang Er. In order to become a fairy, she left her husband and flew to themoon. She got an eternal life but she was very lonely. Her favorite food was moon cakes, so we have moon cakes in honor of her.4. Electronic equipment/ ComputerI would like to describe my Apple ipad. You can e-mail, browse the Web, read books–and yet it has no specialty. There are other devices on the market that do all its functions faster, cheaper and more efficiently. Get an Amazon Kindle to read an e-book, a Blackberry to scan e-mails or any old laptop to access the Internet. The iPad takes online activities truly mobile. It will allow you to read the news in bed, play multiplayer scrabble on any surface, check a recipe in a busy kitchen or view a large-scale Google map.The most important to me is a traditional computer without all the fuss. There are no cords, and it’s totally mobile. You press a button and it comes on in seconds. To add a program, youjust download it from the Internet. There is no file directory, so you won’t be confused with file locations.Since almost everyone uses a computer in the office or at school, the need for the traditional desktop model at home is vanishing. You can download anything you need from app store, like games, software, books, even the speacial ipad mode website by some clothes’ brand such as Chanel, Dior, H&M, Zara etc. I like its powerful functions.5. Outdoor activitiesLong distance travelA historical placeSomething healthyLast weekend I went hiking in Zhang Jiajie, Hunan Province with my friends. Lots to see on the way .HIKING might be very tiring. But what we saw on the way was great fun. we took a trip along a 7500-meter long, in ZJJ, we found how interesting hiking can be! Big trees grow along both sides of the road. The leave are so thick, that they stop the sunshine from getting through. When we walked, it was like walking in the late afternoon. After a while our legs started to get heavy. Mountain roads are only short on maps. They start to get longer when you have to measure them with your own feet. Big rocks with flat tops were all around. Tall trees got shelter from the sun. A small clear pond lied beside the road. It’s a perfect place for taking a rest! We found a cool place and sat down, looked down into the pond, we could see not only the swimming fish, but also the color of the stone on the riverbed because the water is so clean. But my friend warned me don’t fall into the water, The pond is set to be deep as 3 meters. We found a shallow place and put our feet in, the coolness helped us wash the times way. Time flies quickly, before we knew it, it was already late afternoon, we left the pond and I’m expecting to go there next time!6. Sports1. treadmill ; calory; climb; 50 mins2. spinning classeswith pop musickeep fit7. Childhood hobbyToyA room you liked in your childhoodMy favorite room in my home is, definitely, my own bedroom. Stepping into my room, you’ll notice there is a small cabinet in which there are many ties of different colors.Besides that, my room is furnished with a single bed, a computer desk and a wardrobe. I have a soft rug on the floor, because I like to walk around bare-foot, and sometimes, just lie down on the floor to read. A large calendar and posters of my favorite stars are posted on the wall. On my computer desk, there are some presents sent by my dear friends on my birthdays. A sense of joy will be felt when they come into my eyes. Beside my bed, there is a small bookcase, in which my favorite books, including Chinese history, westernculture, law books and so on are displayed. Everyday before I go to bed, I read something.Yes, there is also a mirror behind the wooden door. Every morning when I’m ready to leave, I’m used to standing in front of it and smile to myself and yell out “Come on!Make today another wonderful day!”8. Favourite colour9. TV host/presenterI am a huge fan of Heidi Klum, so here I would like to talk about her. Klum was born in Germany, she has been on the cover of fashion magazines, including Vogue, ELLE. Then she went to New York to develop her career. She became widely for her work with Victoria's Secret as an "Angel". Klum has hosted 5 times of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She is the most suitable person to host the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show because she is a model herself, she is so experienced in model and fashion field. Every time she comes out as a host of this show, she brings with big smile and elegant modeling. Her presence makes the show more brilliant. People would blown away by watching her show and her modeling. While she is also the host of an American reality television fashion show called Project Runway. The contestants compete with each other to create the best clothes and are usually restricted in time, materials and theme. Their designs are judged, and one or more designers are eliminated each week. Instead of the big smile on V SHOW, she has a strict and sometimes even cruel attitude to the contestants. Because she acts as both a host and a judge in P R. She always says to the competitors in the show that” In fashion, one day you are in, the next day you are out.” Because Fashion and beauty are areas in which the market has always paid attention to alphas and betas – creators and early adopters – seeking inspiration in that target to steer the creation of concepts and ideas relevant to their businesses. Italways remind me that the society is the same, in the society, or in your working field, one day you’re in, the next day you’re out. It drives me work harder to catch up the changing society and the work pace. Any successful person has paid a lot behind the scene, and I see hard-working and get encouraged from Heidi Klum. That is why I like her and her show.10. Living skillsSomething you are good atCookingDescribe someone you know who is good at cooking. You should say:who this person ishow you know him or herwhat kinds of food they cookand explain why you think (why you say) this person is so good at cooking. The best cook I know is one of my friends. We got to know each other about 2 years ago, and I got to know him from a birthday party of my friend. From then on, he always invites us toenjoy the food he cooks. He is good at cooking all kinds of food, like spicy food, salty food and sour food. Whenever we go to his home, he will ask us first what kind of food that we like. He told us that he had never been to the cooking school, and he learned to cook by himself. We think that he has a gift on cooking. Sometimes we go to some famous restaurants together, and if we like a dish, he will try cooking it at home and the taste is exactly the same.I often go to his home on weekends to enjoy the delicacy, and now I become really picky. I don’t like the food cooked by others. I told him that my appetite was spoiled. Anyway, i f you have the chance to taste the food by him, I am sure you will like it.I would like to work in a famous bank or a big security company in New York cuz you know the wall street is there although it may be not as crowded as ever, it is my dream to work there since I saw the movie wall street. I really touched by it, cuz it reveals that even though you’re a billionaire at the moment, you may also go broke in just a few minutes, it is life that is full of sth unknown, you’ll never know what would happen next. It is the first time I feel that it can be so excited that work as a economist in the wall street. I know it is a hard work you will feel breathless under great pressure, but it can also bring great sense of accomplishment when you generate revenue for your group and yourself and other people you don’t even know which could help them a lot. So I chose the major finance in university and now I want to get further education overseas in uk which would bring me a lot of theoretical knowledge about international finance。

I often go there after work, probably twice a week. There are several aspects I like about the library. The first one is the whole atmosphere. Every time I go into the library, I can see people in all ages reading books, surfing in the inter, discussing questions, or watching movies, which makes me feel peaceful. The second one is the variety of books. It not only has Chinese books but also some English books. The third one is the easy access to all the materials. Application to the library card is easy and free. People can borrow 6 books for one time. However, there are some parts I don't like about the library. For example, the library doesn't have a quiet study area. It's pretty noisy for people or students who want to study lonely and quietly. The library can consider to build a quiet study room in the future.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:未来居住的城市(city or country you want to live)Describe a city or country you most want to live in the futureYou should say:What is itWhere is it locatedWhy do you like it1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:改进公共设施(public place that you think need improvements)The city I most want to live in the future is Guangzhou. My roommate is a baking genius and she taught me to bake cakes at home.Learning how to bake cakes in rice cooker was pretty difficult because of several reasons. First of all, the portions of materials used were hard to control because I didn't have enough professional cooking tools. I estimated all the materials and merged together. I actually failed once, and succeeded at the second time. Secondly, baking cakes in rice cooker is different from baking in oven. I couldn't change the temperature of rice cooker and I couldn't know how well the cake became with the time passing by either. I had to guess and make sure the cake was not over-cooked. I had to pay more attention to the cake and couldn't leave the cake alone. The last difficult thing was how to take the cake out of the rice cooker. I had to slip the whole cake into a plate with some skills.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:好的服务(where you received a good service)Describe an occasion where you received a good service from a company or shopYou should say:What the service wasWhen and where it happenedWhom you were together withHow you felt about itAnd explain why you think it was good service1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:好的服务(an occasion where you received a good service from a company or shop)Two years ago, I succeeded in returning a broken sweater to customer service at ABC store in Canada with my friend. I was very satisfied with the returning service there. It could be the best returning experience I've ever had.I bought a sweater from ABC store two years ago and washed it immediately after buying it. However, I found it's broken after being washed on the same day. I took this sweater to the store, wishing I could return it by some luck because usually clothes couldn't be returned or exchanged after being washed. The lady was so nice. She apologized immediately after listening to my request. She said it's their quality problem and promised to refund in 3 business days. She apologized again for the poor quality and shopping experience. I didn't expect it could be solved so smoothly and easily. I would like to shop there again just for their great service.雅思口语话题part2高分篇三i use social apps and knowledge-sharing apps everyday because the two meet my biggest two needs.i think in China there are already all kinds of apps to cater to people's every specific need, so it is hard for me to even name one special original app.But i would like the future world to have more apps for knowledge sharing like Quora and Zhihu(知乎).Definitely the Wechat,≮≮China's number one national app.It gets nearly a user pool of 1 billion. And you know what, more than half of them are daily active users. People socialise, buy, have fun and read ,basically do everything on the Wechat. The first app i really used is an app for podcast, named Zune. it is an app developed by Microsoft for the windows phone. i really enjoyed it so much since i can subscribe to and automatically download all kinds of podcasts from BBC,the Guardian and so on with ease.Yeah,of course, how can the smart app developers miss out on so important and vast a population, like 3 hundred million. There are some easy and relaxing game apps for old people and they really enjoy killing some time and even have some online social life over the fun gaming time.雅思口语题库part1话题范文之:Dictionary1-4月雅思口语part1相关话题:dictionary1. Upon his death in 1638, the young minister left his library and half his estate to the new College. In 1639, in recognition of John Harvard's bequest, the Great and General Court ordered "that the colledge agreed upon formerly to be built at Cambridg shalbee called Harvard Colledge." It was originally known as The Henley Centre for Forecasting, with a focus on business forecasting. It was initially run as a non-profit organisation in partnership with the management college, before becoming privately owned in the early 1980s. It was acquired by WPP in the 1990s and now sits within the Kantar Group,WPP’s information, insight and consultancy division.5.McDonald’s is the world's leading food service retailer with more than 30,000 restaurants in 118countries serving 46 million customers each day. It also serves the world some of its favorite foods---world famous French Fries(炸薯条) Big Mae(巨无霸)Chicken McNugges(麦乐鸡块)and Egg McMuffin(猪柳蛋汉堡包)II. Check the preview work (ask several students to tell the phenomena they collected of the modern life) 30minsSuggested answer:First, all people nowadays seems to be too much in a rush to spare enough time for one another. The pace of life is so high in this society that we have no time and energy to enjoy the sunshine every day. We are busy doing important businesses and working or buying houses. Time always seems to be limited and not sufficient at all. As a result almost all people feel the pressure of time. It seems that all the things in life is necessary and important for us to do that we can’t spare even half an hour to enjoy the warm sunshine outside. Second, science and technology plays a rather important part in our life, which on the one hand makes our life comfortable and convenient, but on the other hand makes our human beings develop a kind of abnormal dependence on modern scientific products. For example, we carry mobile phones to keep in touch with others, without it we may feel isolated and helpless. Third, more and more people complain that they are under a large amount of stress from work, study or simply from life. According to surveys many people feel exhausted, frustrated and even depressed.Teacher may sums up and leads into the Text by saying:True as the pace of our life is quickening ever faster, we all seem to be so busy, we seem forever on the go. Many people would ask: how are we to cope with so many things in so little time? But have you ever reflected on the reasons why we become so? Why we become so time pressed? What's the crux and is there any solution to prevent "old father Time becomes a terror"? Now, in the following periods we will see our author Richard Tomkins’ explanation. To begin with, we’ll see the organization of his writing.III. Analysis of the text structure 25minsIn many ways we can see that this piece is a rather persuasive argumentative paper, which much probably can be found in the editorial or comment section where journalists and others contribute regular or occasional columns reflecting on topical issues. Here in the initial part (paragraph 1-11), first by pointing out that we were wrongly estimated we would have more spare time with the help of technology, the writer proposes the problem of the pressure of time and present three reasons why we feel so time-pressed nowadays. Then in the second part (paragraph 12-18), the author goes on to concede that not everybody is affected to the same extent, that is, an exception: not everyone is time-stressed, and in the case of Americans they have actually gained more free time in the past decade. Next comes to the third part (paragraph 19-23), in which our author percepts a variety of reactions triggered by the time-famine. Finally in the last part (paragraph 24-28) the author pins down the crux of the problem and puts forwards a remedy for the stress we feel.(Note: in another way, our teacher can take the following form---ask student to fill the blanksIV1. Read part one carefully after class, and then find out the reasons why people feel time-pressedtoday.2. Summarize how the author lists facts to convince us of the unfavorable effects technology hashad on our lives.3. Read part three and underline the reactions provoked by time-famine.4. Try to list all writing skills employed in the text, such as quotations, figures, etc.Second periodExercise 15minsDictation:As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation. Relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body, but stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.Detailed Text Analysis: 70minsI. Part One 35minsStudents scan part I and then answer the following questions:1. What are the reasons that cause people feel time pressed today?Answer: 1) technology (paragraph 2 " But instead of liberating us, technology has enslaved us.")2) Information exploration (paragraph 7 "Technology apart, the Internet points the way toa second reason why we feel so time-pressed: the information exploration."3) Rising prosperity (paragraph 11 "There is another reason for our increasing time stresslevels, too: rising prosperity.")2. According to the author, has technology made our lives easier or more burdensome? Howmany facts does the author list in order to convince his readers?Answer: According to the author, technology has made our lives more burdensome. Apart from cramming work into our leisure time, it has also provided us with new burden such as spending hours in fixing software glitches on computers and filling our heads with useless information from the Internet.Facts are valuable as evidence that enhances the persuasive force of an argumentative paper. In the text, the author lists a number of facts to try to convince the readers of the unfavorable effects technology has had on our lives.Supporting facts in part one:1) The motorcar brings more traffic problems than it promises to solve.2) The air craft creates a high demand for time-consuming journeys that we neverdreamed of.3) The washing machine, contrary to our expectations, multiplies the hours spent on washingand ironing.4) Instead of making our lives easier, technology goes so far as to cram extra work into ourleisure time.5) Technology produces the new burden of dealing with faxes, e-mails and voicemails.6) Technology eats further into our time by forcing us to handle software glitches oncomputers and filling our heads with useless information from the Internet.3. What writing skills are used to enhance the persuasive force of the author's arguments in partone?Answer: i. Compare and contrast:para 1 & 2---technology, not liberated us but has enslaved us.para 8 & 9and10---through figures, we see the contrast between old days and new time, that is, why we say the information exploded.ii. Facts and examples to illustrate one's view:eg. In part one, there are a number of facts were listed to illustrate the unfavorable effects technology has had on our lives.(see Question 2 above)4. Language study in this part:on the go, cope with, set about sth./doing sth.(no passive), a large quantity of, free from, eat into, in reality, pour in, a handful of, amount to, stress (on), prosperity, oblige, oblige(sb.)(with sth./by doing sth.) abundance, in abundance, abundance of, confusion.II. Part Two15minIn this part the author displays his familiarity with the complexity of the problem, so he makes a concession, pointing out the exception: Not everyone is time-pressed, and Americans have actually gained more free time in the past decade. The following questions are for students to know this part better.1. What is "stress envy"? What do you think are the possible sociological motivations behind it? Answer: "If you're not stressed, you're not succeeding. Everyone wants to have a little bit of this stress to show they're an important person." (Paragraph 14) / In other words, feeling time stressed can bring a kind of sense of importance of oneself. This has its sociological motivations; maybe it is because people think only person of importance will have many things to deal with, and therefore will feel time starved. Or, generally only the people have nothing to do or achieve nothing will not be bothered by time famine. So people have a sense of "stress envy".2. What writing skills are used to enhance the persuasive force in this part?Answer: contrasts and quotations.Take quotation for example:In this part, our author seeks support from the use of quotations from a number of different people, not ordinary one but the well-known ones or experts. These quotations are provided together with the name of the person and background information on them. These details add human interest and support the argument by reference to the utterances of someone who would appear to be in a position to know. Another thing to be notice is, as the quotations record spoken rather than written English, the tone of language is often colloquial, which is rather different from a more purely academic essay.3. Language points in this part:confusion, volunteer, perception, appliance, distribution,III. Part Three 10minsQuestions for students:1. What are the reactions triggered by time famine?Answer: 1) “An attempt to gain the largest possible amount of satisfaction from the smallest possible investment of time.”(para 19)2) “People are also trying to buy time.”(para 21)3) “A third reaction to time famine has been the growth of the work-life debate.”(para 22) 2. What writing skills are used to enhance the persuasive force in this part?Answer: Cause and effect; quotationsTake cause and effect for example: In this text, the pressure of time felt by people is the cause, which arouses a variety of reactions among them. And quotation in this part (para 19&20) was used to prove that people value “quality time” and they become upset when time is wasted.3. Language points in this part:provoke, a variety of, domestic, spring up, futile, divertIV. Part Four 10minsQuestions for students:1. What is the crux of the problem? What about its remedy and the key solution?Answer: The author in the last part (in paragraph 24) pins down the crux of the problem as “the stress we feel arises not from a shortage of time, but from the surfeit of things we try to cram into it.” A successful remedy lies in understanding the problem rather than evading it---the global village is a world of limitless possibilities, and we should not expect to know everything in this world. The key solution is we human beings should have fewer desires. “W e need to set boundaries for ourselves, or be doomed to mounting despair.”2. Language points:a shortage of, switch off, be doomed toV. Homework: 5mins1. Review words and expressions of this Unit2. Prepare a class report on the topic of stress (about 130 words).3. Finish exercises after text A4. Previewing task:1) Read through the text and analyze the text structure;2) Have an after-class discussion on how much pressure we have to stand for in our daily lives.3) Have an optional writing entitled "The Ways We Cope with Time Pressure".Third periodI.Class report (two or three students is ok.)15minsSuggestion: Teacher asks students to rewrite their class report into an essay within 150 words. Suggested passage for teachers:Title: On StressIn our society, almost all people are under various kinds of stress. It is no wonder that stress has been shown to be one of the leading causes of health problems and under high stress conditions for an extended period of time stress can result in serious health problems and even premature death in an individual. While a certain amount of stress is good for a person and builds character, extended stress not only causes health problems but reduced work performance in an individual. Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing as it is often supposedto be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivations and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health. If we are to survive in an ever-accelerating world, it is imperative that we learn to cope with the increasing pressure of change. If we do not, it is more than probable that we will find ourselves sucked into a downward spiral, desperately trying to manage in an increasing unmanageable world. II.Check of homework, including words and expressions, and our teacher should provide necessary explanation when going through the exercises after Text A 30minsText B Life in the Fast LaneFor Teachers’ leading words for this Text:As the pace of life in today's world grows ever faster, we seem forever on the go. With so much to do and so little time to do it in how can we struggle to save time? And does it make any sense? This text talks about untangling the problem and comes up with the answer.III.Check Ss' previewing work by asking them the following questions :( 10 minutes)---- How does the author state out his topic?---- How does the author challenge the traditional and widely accepted concept of timesaving? Suggested summing up words for Ts:In para1--11, the author states out his topic by listing a large number of facts. In para12-13, the author asks several questions and provides the answers to them, through the questions, the author's viewpoint gets quite persuasive.IV. Then, T asks Ss form groups to discuss the topic-- timesaving :( 25 minutes) In class, Ss can form groups of three or four to discuss and report how they save time in their daily lives. T lists those methods on the blackboard and reminds Ss to keep these methods in mind when they study the text, and see how many of them are mentioned in the text. (25 minutes) Suggested answers:1. Have their breakfast in classroom;2. Listen to the radio while doing their homework;3. Buy some fast or instant food instead of dining in the dining hall;4. Read books on their way to some places by bus. etc. From the methods we adopt in our daily lives, can we achieve such a conclusion: in order to save time, we always try to finish several tasks at the same time, which is also called multitask.Vlead Ss to focus on some topic sentences; therefore, they may grasp the main ideas of each para, which is helpful to the text division and idea grasping.Fourth periodI. Detailed Text Analysis :( 35 minutes)i. Part one: The topic is figured out by listing some phenomena of the fast pace of modern life.1. 雅思口语part2话题库范文之:重要信件(important letter you received)思如初恋。

话不多说,范文自取:You should say:When you received itWho sent itWhat it was aboutWhy it was important to you1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:an important letter you received(重要信件)Ok, well I suppose one of the most important letters I’ve received was an offer letter from a university I applied to – Leeds University, to be precise – so that’s what I think I’ll talk about. And as for who the letter was from, well, I cant quite remember the name of the actual person who wrote it, I’m afraid, but if I’m not mistaken, it was sent by the university admissions office, who I guess are responsible for handling such matters.Anyway, regarding what the letter was about, well basically, it wasjust informing me that I had been accepted onto their Master’s program in Finance, so it was really great news for me, because this was the course that I most wanted to study, and out of all the various universities that I applied to, Leeds was definitely top of my list, as it was the one that most appealed to me, in terms of both the course content and social life. So, as you can imagine, I was over the moon after receiving the offer.I mean, it felt like all the years of hard work I’ve put into my studies seemed to have finally paid off, so it was like a dream come true for me, it really was.And finally then, with regard to why this letter was important, well, I think it goes without saying that it was extremely important, because essentially, it means that I’m gonna be able to study abroad, which I’m sure will have a huge impact on my future career, as it will hopefully enable me to apply for jobs which I wouldn’t have otherwise been considered for.And as well as this, I reckon that studying abroad will help me become more mature and independent, which I’ve noticed has happened with a few of my friends who have spent some time abroad, and I’m sure this’ll have a positive effect on my life in general. So it’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m really looking forward to it!雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:宠爱的广告(an advertisement that you saw)Describe an advertisement that you saw or heard or likedYou should say:Where you saw or heard itWhat kind of advertisement it wasWhat the content of the advertisement was (or, what product /service was advertised)and explain how you felt about this advertisement/ why you liked it.1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:宠爱的广告(advertisement)There are several types of advertisements that we see daily on TV, billboards, through the Internet, social networking sites, mobile applications, and mobile games. Many of them are very banal, full of marketing speech and kind of boring while others are average and their primary focus is to express the positive sides of a product to increase the sales. Finally, quite a few of them are creative, informative, humorous, fascinating and memorable.I usually do not like to watch advertisement between a movie/ TV programme and large commercial breaks are quite annoying to me. I personally think that the best way of advertising is using billboards, which can lead you to remember the brand name forever without actually annoying you.Well, the best advertisement I have ever seen that I still like for its uniqueness was on a highway in the United Arab Emirates and I really liked the idea of this advertisement. One day while passing the main road a big billboard caught my eyes. It was designed to look like the filtration zone of a cigarette which is commonly known as the cigarette butt. The large billboard was quite different in shape and it presented the message ‘Stop smoking even Marlboro’ quite visibly.I stole a glance at the billboard and thought about the message it conveyed. I actually did not think much and forgot about it. After an hour I found myself in front of a beach with a packet of Marlboro cigarette inmy pocket. While I was lighting a cigarette, I was wondering why I bought a packet of Marlboro? It is usually not my brand! To my surprise, I realised that the advertisement that I saw on the road had an immense effect on my psychology unconsciously. I was convinced that the billboard had forced me to buy that brand unconsciously. I think it was the first time I realised how advertisements can target peoples unconscious mind. Technically speaking this is the moment I realised that the best way to influence people’s buying behaviour is to use their unconscious mind instead of trying to deliver marketing speeches. When I thought more to analyse the billboard advertising and its effect on me, I realised that the advertiser tried to use reverse advertising techniques by delivering the message that Marlboro is less dangerous and smokers who wish to quit smoking should try this. Possibly all smokers- from light smokers to heavy ones, wish a day without smoking though many of them do not try hard. Then the billboard advertisement was pretending as if they were broadcasting an important public safety message. Moreover, they used a fascinating design on the billboard that would actually grab anyones attention. As you can see, they were quite successful as I still remember this advert very vividly and I like this advertisement due to the creative thinking of the maker.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:宠爱的家人(sth you enjoy doing with an old person)Describe something you enjoy doing with an old person in your familyYou should say:What it isHow often you do itWho you do it withWhy you enjoy doing it with this personI enjoy spending time with my maternal grandmother. She is eighty and has an opinion on anything and everything. My grandma is an energetic person. She has some age-related problems but she gets about more than my mother or me. Actually, there are hardly any temples in South India that she hasn’t been to. She is fluent in most South Indian languages and also possesses a working knowledge of Sanskrit. I visit my grandmother at least once a month. When we were kids, we used to spend the weekends at her place and then she would tell us numerous stories from Hindu mythology and keep in entertained for hours on end. Actually, if I am deeply religious today, that is because of her. She also visits us very often, and whenever she does she makes it a point to bring us lots of gifts and other goodies. She is a generous woman who enjoys giving food and money to the needy. The reason that I enjoy spending time with her is that she has a positive attitude towards anything. Actually I have never seen her looking depressed or hopeless. She is great fun to be with.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:学习技能( sth you learned in a place or from someone)Describe something you learned in a place or from someoneYou should say:What it wasWhere or who you got itWhat the situation wasHow you felt思路点拨:以下思路谨供参考,盼望大家依据自己的真实经受编写答案。

Well, my favourite science area is chemistry ever since I was a middle school student. Though I just learned some basic part of chemistry at the high school level, it was a really eye-opener because it gave me a fuller understanding of the natural world by teaching me about the periodic table, the mole concept, types of chemical reactions, atomic theory and etc.Chemistry is very difficult to learn, but it also tells me about chemicals and their interactions and it can help you to understand the world around you, since everything is comprised of chemicals. Cooking, for instance, often employs chemical reactions to achieve different types of cooked foods. Baking is a prime example of this type of use, as it often employs ingredients like baking soda that react with acids in the recipe and help the cake or cookies to rise when heated. This process is a chemical reaction. Additionally, taking a chemistry class will allow you to better understand other sciences, like biology or anatomy and physiology, as all life is uses chemical reactions. Besides, chemistry allows me to stay in the lab to take lots of different engaging experiments, such as making smoke bombs. I believe that experimenting is best part of taking a chemistry class.4.高分口语语料地道用词:eye-openerchemical reactiontake a class高分句型:Baking is a prime example of this type of use, as it often employs ingredients like baking soda that react with acids in the recipe and help the cake or cookies to rise when heated.Additionally, taking a chemistry class will allow you to better understand other sciences, like biology or anatomy and physiology, as all life is uses chemical reactions.雅思口语part2题库话题参考范文:感爱好的学科(an area of science you studied that you are interested in)You should say:what branch of science it iswhen you studied ithow you studied itand explain why you are interested in it1.

Describe A piece of advice you’ve received. You should say: what it is who gave it to you why you took the advice and explain what the result was. I can remember a time when I sought advice from a wide range of different people. It was a couple of years ago, at a previous job, when I fell for a colleague. From my perspective it was love at first sight, but I was unsure whether the feeling was mutual and I didn’t know my company’s stance on office romances. I didn’t know what to do and I didn’t want to listen to just one person, so, as I said, I asked a few of my friends to get a broad set of opinions and points of view. A couple of people had reservations and advised caution, they recommended that I should take things slow, after all, “good things come to those that wait”. However, the general feeling was that I should go for it and ask her out. They said I had nothing to lose and I should strike while the iron’s hot. I had butterflies in my stomach, but despite being a nervous wreck, I eventually plucked up the courage to ask her out. As it happens, I shouldn’t have listened to them. She turned me down in front of all my co-workers and I had to walk back to my desk with my tail between my legs. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life and I’ll definitely think twice before putting my heart on the line again. As they say, “once bitten, twice shy.2.雅思⼝语part2的话题素材 Describe an indoor game that you played when you were a child. You should say: what the game was where you played it who you played it with and explain why you enjoyed this game. I think I’d have to go for puzzles. Jigsaw puzzles to be precise. I have a huge collection, although most of them are hidden in a cupboard somewhere in my parents’ house, these days. I used to have a special table exclusively for doing my puzzles on. Once I got into the groove, I would become immersed in the puzzle and get lost in a world of my own. Occasionally I would try to solve one with my grandmother, but this was more for her benefit as I much prefer doing it by myself. I know it sounds selfish, but it’s just not as much fun sharing the responsibility with someone else and the pay off isn’t as big at the end. I started when I was just a toddler, putting shapes into pre-cut holes, but slowly I graduated to more complex pictures. These days it’s not unusual to find me tackling a really complex puzzle, like an “Impossipuzzle” which are double-sided and feature a picture of something very small but in large quantities, like a plate of baked beans or loads of Brussels sprouts. In my opinion as well as being an enjoyable pastime, jigsaw puzzles are good for your mind. The brain is basically just a muscle and so it should be given a work out every now and then. Jigsaw puzzles are challenging and although they are time consuming, they provide great satisfaction once you’ve finished one.3.雅思⼝语part2的话题素材 Describe an educational TV program. You should say: what the program is what type of program it is what contents it has and explain what you learned from the program. I’d like to talk about a program from my childhood called “How 2”, I believe it’s originally a British TV show that was televised in my country with subtitles. The presenters certainly spoke with a British accent. It’s hard to pin down exactly what type of program it was, I guess a mixture of science and history, with some everyday facts thrown in for good measure. The title itself is a play on words, as the series would show you ‘how to’ do certain things. The show is aimed at kids in middle school or high school. The hosts would routinely do experiments to demonstrate science in action, I remember one in particular where the presenters were trying to pour water out of a bottle in the quickest way possible. The winner had a very good technique whereby she would swirl the water, creating a vortex and causing the liquid to fly out of the bottle far quicker than any of the others’. As you would expect, the show got me interested in science and learning, but it also showed that you could do many experiments yourself and have fun at home, with everyday objects and materials that were easy to get hold of. At school we would need equipment and the teacher would have to supervise us, but at home we could be left to our own devices, with just a bottle and some water to keep us amused.4.雅思⼝语part2的话题素材 Describe a piece of equipment you want to buy in the future. You should say: what the equipment is where are you going to buy it what features it has and explain why you want to buy it. I’m a bit behind the times, so I think number one on my list of most wanted, indeed most needed equipment, is a smartphone. I’m not sure exactly where to by my new toy. On the one hand I could buy it on the Internet, where it’s likely to be cheaper, but on the other hand I prefer the more intimate experience of going to a shop and seeing the product first hand before I commit to buy it. Zhongguancun, an area of Beijing, has a huge selection of technological equipment, with mall after mall housing floor after floor of computers, phones and other tech. It’s a geek’s paradise. My current phone has been described as an ‘old man’s phone’. It basically only calls and sends text messages. My new smartphone will have a plethora of features, including a high-resolution camera and the ability to download a wide range of apps, like WeChat. It can also play movies, which will be especially useful when I’m trying to kill time on the subway on the way to work. Really, the soon I buy a smartphone the better. It’s high time I was brought up to date, I don’t want to be one of those technophobes who is dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age. I’d also like to start using WeChat as everyone I know has it and I don’t want to get left behind or kept out of the loop.5.雅思⼝语part2的话题素材 Describe a piece of good news you heard from TV or the Internet. You should say: what the news was about when you got this news where you got this news from and explain why you think it was a good piece of news. I once read a piece of good news on the website of the New York Times. It was two years ago, I was still a journalism student and one of my tutors assigned me to do a presentation for my news-gathering course. The time limit was five minutes and it was supposed to be a critique, i.e., stating clearly what was good and bad about the story. So I started preparing for my assignment. I was skimming through pages and clicking around when this article caught my eye. Basically, it was about a high school student who got bullied because he stuttered. The news story was a good one because it wasn’t what I expected it to be — a one-sided story that went on about the poor boy. This piece was actually rather fair and balanced. It tried to show the readers what had happened to the stutterer and they gave the alleged bullies a chance to give their side of the story. From the journalistic perspective, it was a neat one.。
