一般来说no相当于not any 或not a. 在be+not (或no) 的结构中，用not 表示一般的 否定，用no表示“决不” “丝毫不”的意思， 语气比not强。 He is not a physicist. 他不是物理学家 He is no physicist. 他对物理一窍不通。
5. not...any more than是no more...than 的一种强调形式。

部分否定与全部否定

1.完全否定句: 当句子中含有否定词no, none, nobody, nothing, nowhere, neither, never 等表达绝对 否定的含义的时候,称为全部否定句. 例如: Nobody knows. 谁也不知道。(没有任何一个 人知道.) No trickery can fool us. 任何骗人的东西都不 能欺骗我们.






4. not more...than 和no more..than的区别
not more... than = 不超过/不多于 no more...than =既不...也不 “no more ... than” = “not ...just as ...not” 含 有消极、否定的意味。than前后两部分在意义 上都是否定的，但着重点往往在前一个分句

2.部分否定: 当含有全体意义的代词或副词如:all, each, both, altogheter,always, often, entirely, wholly, everything, everybody, everywhere等用语否定式谓语的句子中的时 候,构成部分否定句. All the answers are not right.=not all the answers are right. 答案未必全对。（部分否定） None of the answer is right. 所有的答案都不对。（全部否定） The old house is not quite what is should be. 这老房子并不十分理想。 He does not wholly agree. 他并不完全同意。
2. 短语 no more than和not more than



“no more than”=only, 言其少，译作“不过，只有， 仅仅”； “not more than”=at most， 可译为“不超过，至 多”。 He has no more than $10. 他只有十美元。 He is no more than 5 years old. 他只有5岁。(有嫌“小”的意思) He is not more than 5 years old. 他至多5岁。

He has learned no more than 100 words. 他才学会了100个单词。(有嫌“少”的意思”) He has learned not more than 100 words. 他学会的单词不超过100个。 He is no more than a puppet. 他只不过是一个傀儡。 Not more than ten 不超过10 No more than ten 只有10，给人”数量不够大” 的口气。
6. no less...than

no less...than，意为：“和……同样是……”, “简直 是，实在是”， Human is no less an animal than a monkey is. 人和猴都是动物。 It is no less than blackmail to ask such a high price. 如此索要高价，简直是敲诈。 It is no less than a scandal. 这实在是一件丑闻。 He is no less active than he used to be. 他和从前一样活跃。



上述用法是属于同类人或物的对比，但下面这句不同 No one can be in China more than a few hours without sensing an enormous optimism. 任何人只要在中国呆上几个小时，就会感到一种巨大 的乐观主义精神。 More than a few hours仅仅表示时间的数量，而且 one(指人）和（hour)不属于同类，无法进行对比。

He is not more wounded than you. 他的伤势不如你重 He is no more wounded than you. 他和你一样没有受伤 He is no more diligent than you. 你不勤奋，他也不勤奋。 He is not more diligent than you. 他不像你那样勤奋。
3. 短语 no less than和not less than

no less than 表示“至少、多达” not less than 表示 “不少于”
Not less than 10 不少于10 No less than 10 达到10 (给人“数量竟然达到10”的口 气) The output of this year will be no less than 18 million tons. 今年的产量将多达一千八百万吨。 There were no less than 50 killed and wounded. 死伤者不少于五十人。 The audience was no less than five thousand. 听众有五千人之多。


Every one cannot answer. =not everyone can answer. 并非人人都能答的上来。（部分否定） No one can answer. 没有人能答的上来。（全 部否定） 注意：not...at all表示全部否定。 I don‟t know them at all. 我根本不认识他们。
