Gettysburg Address
Beginning with the now-iconic phrase "Four score and seven years ago," referring to the Declaration of Independence, written at the start of the American Revolution in 1776, Lincoln examined the founding principles of the United States in the context of the Civil War, and memorialized the sacrifices of those who gave their lives at Gettysburg and extolled virtues for the listeners (and the nation) to ensure the survival of America's representative democracy, that "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
On Jan. 1, 1863, Lincoln issued the Emancipation([i,mæ nsi'peiʃən) Proclamation([,prɔklə'meiʃən] ), which eventually led to the freeing of all slaves in the USA. During the Civil War, Lincoln gave many speeches, including the Gettysburg Address (Nov. 1863), a short speech in which he stated how a country must be dedicated to human freedom in order to survive.

Brief Background
Lincoln (1809—1865), the 16th president of the U.S.A. (1861— 1865). On 19th, Nov.1863, when he was invited to attend the ceremony at which the battlefield of Gettysburg was dedicated as a national cemetery for the soldiers who were killed in that battle during the American Civil War, he delivered the nowfamous Gettysburg Address.
