With the right combination of animals and plants, he figured, maybe he could clean up waste the way nature did. 第一讲一、“3+x”高考英语试卷完型填空题的命题特点“3+x”高考英语试卷在2000年首次在浙江、江苏、吉林、山西四省实施,新增了听力部分内容,删除了原高考单项填空的单词辨音、阅读理解的B节对话部分和单词拼写,并在分值上作了较大的调整,更加体现大纲培养学生听说读写能力的精神,更能体现语言的交际性和实用性等原则。
充分显示了“突出语篇、强调应用、注重实际”的命题思路,把测试的基本点明确定位在语篇上,重点测试语言意义,侧重对考生语言综合能力的考查。
表1是“3+x”高考英语试题的分布情况:表1:“3+x”NMET2000/2001试题情况完型填空在“3+x”高考试卷中共有20小题,计分为30分,这与历年高考试卷不同。
众所周知,完型填空作为一种综合性的测试题型,它覆盖了词汇、语法、阅读理解、书面表达等考试目标的全部内容。
它不仅能测试考生在语篇水平上的理解能力,还可以考查考生语言学习的综合水平。
在语言的知识方面,它可以考查考生的词汇掌握程度和语法知识。
在语言的应用方面,它可以检查考生结合背景知识理解短文主题、大意的能力,结合上下文运用语言知识,全面驾驭语篇、获取信息的能力。
完型填空的这个特点在“3+x”高考试题中并没有因为题量的减少而削弱,反之,更为明显与突出。
归纳起来,它有以下四个特点:1、文章短、挖空多、保持一定的挖空密度。
请看表2:一般来说,文章越短,挖空密度越大,理解文章的难度就越大,解题的难度也相应增加。
从表2可以看出,2000年“3+x”高考试题的空型填空题是历年高考中文章最短、挖空密度最大的一次测试。
但其内容相对完整,其句子间的逻辑关系强,词语之间、句子之间体现了整体性、连贯性。
挖空处以情景意义选择为主,要求考生根据文章的整体内容、层次结构及内在的逻辑关系去选择符合文章内容的答案。
2001年试题中的完型填空篇幅较2000年长,这样对考生读速的要求也就要高得多(平均读速为22.8wpm)。
但挖空密度没有前两年大,总体难度较NMET2000的完型填空题相对要小。
选项设置同往年基本相同,干忧项的设置均与语法结构无关,重在文意干忧。
主要对学生进行语篇主旨、行文脉络、修辞润句、词语辨析的考核。
2、情景意义选择为主,语法选择填空极少。
刚才已经提到,“3+x”高考试题完型填空的选项设置与历年高考基本相同,但为单纯考语法结构的题目已基本消亡。
干忧项的设置均与语法无关,重在文意干忧。
这种试题的特点是:4个备选答案往往是相同的词类,其词形也相同。
即:如果是副词,则都是副词;如果是动词则都是动词等等。
如果孤立地看挖空的句子,可能都能满足句子的需要,无论将哪个选项填进去,从语法上都是正确的,但是要确定正确答案,只能根据全文的内容和情节的发展,使所选答案能满足为文章的中心内容服务的需要。
以2001年试题中的38题为例:The native people said they (38)this creature and called it the “Yeti”,…A. heard fromB. cared forC. knew ofD. read about此题如从单句的角度来看,除A选项外,似乎其余三个备选答案都对。
但如果考生通读全文,就会发现最后一段说过一旦捉住雪人后的处置办法,点明实际上无人捉住过雪人。
因此可以排除B项。
联系上文的story,C项knew of 是必然的选择,干忧性极强的是D 项read about ,因为上文有report 一词,但考生还可以根据常识判断,在Mount Everest 一带的 native people 不太可能读到相关的文章,而听说过的可能性更大。
又如2000年试题中的41题:The idea(40)of a body clock should not be too (41) since the lives of most livingthings are controlled by(42) the 24-hour night-and-day cycle.A. difficultB. excitingC. surprisingD. interesting这四个备选答案中,除了A项外,其余三项放入句中在语义和语法上均可成立。
但是纵观全文,考生就会发现有两点可以帮助确定C项surprising 是正确答案。
其一是常识:人类与其它世间万物一样,也有其生命的tide(潮汐),引导的原因状语已说明这一点;其二是大多数人都有这种体验。
因而隐含着这个发现没什么可值得大惊小怪的,如此,B 项与D项就可排除了。
因此“3+x”高考英语试卷完型填空题立足于考生对全文的理解。
命题者匠心独具,给出的干忧往往与空前空后的文字形成某种看似“合理”的解释,从不同角度“迷惑”考生,若考生不通观全局,就会失误。
3、单词填空为主、短语或词组填空为辅;实词为主,虚词为辅。
表3:最近两年完型填空词汇考查情况由上表可知,“3+x”高考试题完型填空的选项词汇主要是实词。
实词是信息词汇,重在考查考生的能力。
短语或词组填空仅起辅助作用,2001年试卷中只有两题,而2000年试卷则一题也没有。
这样的设置既要求考生具有很好的词感,能熟练运用所学过的常见词汇,惯用知识,还要求他们具有较强的语感,具有语篇整体处理的能力。
做到上下求索寻信息,左顾右盼找答案,瞻前顾后想全文,同时结合考生个人的各方面常识正确解读全文。
4、所选短文的难易程度符合高三学生的实际水平。
研究分析“3+x”高考英语试卷的完型填空题,我们觉得所选短文的语法结构、用词造句均未超出高三学生所学过的文章水平。
短文内容贴近学生实际生活,便于学生发挥自己的思维能力和理解掌握短文的内容。
篇首提示句保留完整,为考生了解短文的全貌打开了一个窗口,激活了学生原有的认知图式,消除了恐惧感。
但是短文中也出现了一些派生词,或者已学词组的新用法、新意义,这是不足为怪的。
例如在2001年完型填空中,出现了refroze, prehistoric等词。
主要是考查考生对单词举一反三的能力,是知识的延伸。
二、“3+x”高考英语试卷完型填空题的能力目标要求是什么?无论是历年高考还是“3+x”高考英语试卷,完型填空题选材很广泛,它涉及日常生活、文史知识、科技小品、社会热点、政治经济、人物、故事等,所选文章的体裁主要是记叙文、说明文和议论文。
它要求考生在熟练掌握语法、词组和其他语言知识的基础上,善于完整地全面地接受文章内容,认识文章的结构和各部分的逻辑关系,善于在文章中发现并捕捉信息,通过分析思考,作出准确的判断,选出最符合文章内容要求的答案。
具体来说,完型填空题对考生提出了如下几个方面的能力与内容要求:1、熟练、扎实的英语语法知识和相当丰富的词汇知识。
高考英语中的完型填空试题,并不直接考语法知识。
但是,解答试题的前提是读懂文章,而读懂文章就必须具有扎实、娴熟的语法知识。
如果考生不理解英语句子的结构,不明白具体句子结构所表达的具体意思,又怎么能选择符合文章内容的答案呢?所以,不直接考查语法知识,并不是不要语法知识,而是通过检查考生的理解程度,来间接地考查考生的语法知识。
考生的英语词汇知识越丰富,语法知识越扎实,阅读速度就越快,理解就会更为全面、深刻。
2、快速阅读理解的能力和技巧在一定意义上,完型填空题是为阅读理解服务的,它要求考生具有快速阅读文章的能力,尤其是跳读的能力,心里要有整体,浏览全文,掌握全文要旨和主要考点。
如果考生读不懂缺字少词的短文,就无法进行正确的解题。
考生对文章内容理解越全面,那么他的理解就越深刻;考生的英语语感越好,正确选择率就越高,而这种能力的培养是靠平时大量阅读,科学训练出来的。
