Team work and team building essentia

Team work and team building essentialsTeam building skills are critical for your effectiveness as a manager or entrepreneur. And even if you are not in a management or leadership role yet, better understanding of team work can make you a more effective employee and give you an extra edge in your corporate office.A team building success is when your team can accomplish something much bigger and work more effectively than a group of the same individuals working on their own. You have a strong synergy of individual contributions. But there are two critical factors in building a high performance team. The first factor in team effectiveness is the diversity of skills and personalities. When people use their strengths in full, but can compensate for each other's weaknesses. When different personality types balance and complement each other. The other critical element of team work success is that all the team efforts are directed towards the same clear goals, the team goals. This relies heavily on good communication in the team and the harmony in member relationships. In real life, team work success rarely happens by itself, without focused team building efforts and activities. There is simply too much space for problems. For example, different personalities, instead of complementing and balancing each other, may build up conflicts. Or even worse, some people with similar personalities may start fighting for authority and dominance in certain areas of expertise. Even if the team goals are clear and accepted by everyone, there may be no team commitment to the group goals or no consensus on the means of achieving those goals: individuals in the team just follow their personal opinions and move in conflicting directions. There may be a lack of trust and openness that blocks the critical communication and leads to loss of coordination in the individual efforts. And on and on. This is why every team needs a good leader who is able to deal with all such team work issues. Here are some additional team building ideas, techniques, and tips you can try when managing teams in your situation.∙Make sure that the team goals are totally clear and completely understood and accepted by each team member.∙Make sure there is complete clarity in who is responsible for what and avoid overlapping authority. For example, if there is a risk that two team members will be competing for control in certain area, try to divide that area into two distinct parts and give each more complete control in one of those parts, according to those individual's strengths and personal inclinations.∙Build trust with your team members by spending one-on-one time in an atmosphere of honesty and openness. Be loyal to your employees, if youexpect the same.∙Allow your office team members build trust and openness between each other in team building activities and events. Give them some opportunities of extra social time with each other in an atmosphere that encourages opencommunication. For example in a group lunch on Friday. Though be careful with those corporate team building activities or events in which socializing competes too much with someone's family time.∙For issues that rely heavily on the team consensus and commitment, try to involve the whole team in the decision making process. For example, viagroup goal setting or group sessions with collective discussions of possible decision options or solution ideas. What you want to achieve here is thateach team member feels his or her ownership in the final decision, solution, or idea. And the more he or she feels this way, the more likely he or she is to agree with and commit to the decided line of action, the more you build team commitment to the goals and decisions.∙When managing teams, make sure there are no blocked lines of communications and you and your people are kept fully informed.Even when your team is spread over different locations, you can stillmaintain effective team communication. Just do your meetings online and slash your travel costs. Click here for a free test drive.∙Be careful with interpersonal issues. Recognize them early and deal with them in full.∙Don't miss opportunities to empower your employees. Say thank you or show appreciation of an individual team player's work.∙Don't limit yourself to negative feedback. Be fare. Whenever there is an opportunity, give positive feedback as well. Finally, though team work and team building can offer many challenges, the pay off from a high performance team is well worth it.。

The Magna Carta is not to be confused with the Magna Carta Pub. Although, after developing a project charter, the services of the pub may be required.
The most well known charter, the Magna Carta, was created in 1215. King John of England demonstrated disregard for his subjects by ruthlesly punishing those who did not pay the exorbitant taxes he levied to support his war in France. In a show of military force, his barons challenged his authority to rule and King John was forced to acquiesce to their demand. The Magna Carta is not a sweeping document of principles but a commitment by the King to observe the rule of law. The barons likewise committed to renew their oath to the Crown. The Magna Carta became the first written document that stated a relationship between a governing body, its subjects and their shared responsibility to uphold the law.

1Team Building Report for Mrs. Smith's 4th Grade ClassHi everyone! Today I'm going to tell you all about how to write a really good team building report. A team building report is something you write after your class or group does special activities to help you all work better together as a team. It's important because working as a team helps you get more done and makes things more fun too!The very first part of your report should be the introduction. This is where you explain what team building is and why it's important. You can say something like "Team building helps us learn how to cooperate, communicate, and trust each other so we can accomplish our goals together as a class." The introduction gets everyone interested in reading the rest of your report.Next comes the body of the report where you talk about the actual team building activities you did. There should be a new section for each different activity. For example, one sectionmight be about the human knot activity where you all had to untangle yourselves without letting go of hands. You would describe what happened, like how you strategized, who took a leadership role, whether you succeeded, and what challenges you faced. But don't just tell what happened - analyze how the activity helped build team skills! You could say something like "This activity really made us practice clear communication since we had to listen carefully to each other's ideas on how to untangle ourselves."Another body section could be about that game where you had to get your whole team standing on a tiny pedestal together. This one was so challenging! But it taught perseverance and creative problem-solving. You might write "At first it seemed impossible, but by working patiently and thinking outside the box, we eventually realized if we stood at angles, we could distribute our weight in a way that allowed everyone to fit."There are so many fun team building games and activities to choose from. Other possibilities are the egg drop where you design a container to protect an egg from breaking, blindfold activities that require trust, or doing a team burger build. Whichever you pick, describe them in detail and discuss howthey contributed to team spirit, collaboration, leadership skills, and other team qualities. After covering all the activities, your report needs a conclusion section to wrap everything up. Here you can restate why team building matters and summarize the key lessons your class learned about being a cohesive unit. Maybe you'll say "Overall, these activities taught us the importance of clear communication, creative strategies, perseverance, and most of all, valuing and including every team member's voices and contributions." The conclusion reminds the reader of the main purpose and takeaways. Finally, every good report needs a creative title to grab the reader's attention right away. Some ideas could be "Team Builders Extraordinaire," "Mrs. Smith's Finely-Tuned Team Machine," or "We're Better Together: A Team Building Journey." Use your imagination!Well, there you have it - all the components for an awesome team building report. If you include an engaging introduction, detailed activity descriptions with analysis, a summarizing conclusion, and a catchy title, your report will be a smash hit. Work hard, have fun, and most importantly, be a team through and through. Thanks for reading, and happy team building!篇2The Awesome World of Team Building ReportsDo you love working together with your friends and classmates? Making a team building report lets you share all the fun team activities you did and how they helped your group become better teammates. Let me tell you all about these super cool reports! What Goes Into a Team Building Report?A team building report has several main sections to cover everything important. First, the introduction explains what the report is about and why team building matters. It might discuss how teams need to cooperate, communicate well, and play to each other's strengths.Next, you describe the team members. This helps readers get to know who was on your team. You can share basics like names and ages, but also fun facts that make each person unique! The main body is where you get to the exciting team building activities. You explain each activity you did in detail. What was the goal? How did you approach it as a team? Did anychallenges come up that you had to overcome together? This part really brings the report to life. You'll also want to analyze the activities. What skills did they help build - things like leadership, problem-solving, or simply getting along better? How did the activities impact your team's growth and bond? Discussing the impacts is super important. Finally, the conclusion sums up what you learned overall. It might restate the key lessons about teamwork. You could also share your team's future goals for working together awesomely.Let's Look at an Example!Imagine your 3rd grade class did some cool team building days. Your report might go like this:Introduction"Teamwork makes the dream work!" Working together as a team is so important, especially for us 3rd graders. When teammates cooperate and support each other, way more can be achieved than going it alone. That's why Ms. Roberts dedicated two days to super fun team building activities for our class. This report covers what we did and how it helped turn us into an even more awesome team!Team MembersOur class of 24 was divided into 4 teams of 6 students each. I was on the Gummy Bears team with Jacob, Emily, Jayden, Sofia and Michael. Jacob loves telling jokes that always make us laugh. Emily has a talent for drawing amazing pictures. Jayden is a rules expert who makes sure we follow directions correctly. Sofia is our team's cheerleader, cheering us on with her high spirits! And Michael is a puzzle master, helping us solve every brainteaser.Activity 1: Three-Legged RaceThe first activity had us racing in pairs while our legs were tied together. The goal was to cooperate and move together as one unit. At first, we were tripping over each other a lot! But soon we got our rhythm down by taking smaller steps and leaning on each other for support when needed. Jacob and I actually ended up winning our heat! This activity showed how teams have to be in total sync, both physically and mentally. We had to merge our movements through constant communication.Activity 2: Toxic Waste River CrossingThis wild activity involved getting our whole team across an "acid river" using just a few platforms to walk on. If our feet touched the ground, we'd have to go back! We had to work together to arrange the platforms just right and decide the order for people to cross. It took a few tries, but Jayden's eye for rulesand Michael's puzzle skills helped us find the right solution. This was a big test of problem-solving, strategic planning, and implementing a team plan successfully as a unit.Activity AnalysisThe activities helped build up several key team skills for the Gummy Bears. First, our communication got much better as we had to discuss every move. We got experience cooperating and being patient with each other too. Resolving conflicts was important - like when we disagreed on the toxic river strategy at first. Leadership rotated round as different people took the篇3Team Building Report: What It Is and How to Write ItHi friends! Today I want to tell you all about team building reports. My class just did a really fun team building activity, and then we had to write a report about it. At first I thought it would be super boring to write a report, but it was actually kind of cool! What is a Team Building Report?A team building report is a paper you write to explain a team building activity your group did together. It tells what the activity was, why you did it, how it went, and what you learned from it.The main point is to show how the activity helped build teamwork and cooperation in your group.Team building activities are things you do together as a team to learn how to work better as a group. They teach important skills like communication, listening, problem-solving, and helping each other. Some examples are scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, trust falls, and group puzzle games. After you do the team building activity, you write the report to describe the whole experience - the good parts and the hard parts. The report helps you think about what your group did well and what you could improve for next time.So that's the basic idea! Now let me walk you through how to actually write one of these reports. The IntroductionThe first part is the introduction. Here you want to briefly explain:What group or team you are a part of (like a class, club, sports team etc.)What the team building activity was that you didWhy you did this particular activityFor example, my introduction said:"Our 4th grade class at Sunny Hills Elementary did a team building activity called the 'Marshmallow Tower Challenge.' We did this to practice working together, following instructions, and creative problem-solving as a team."See how I covered the key points? The intro is just a few sentences to set up what the report will be about.Describing the ActivityNext, you need to describe the actual team building activity you did in detail. Share all the key rules, materials, and steps involved. That way, someone reading your report can really picture and understand the activity. For the Marshmallow Tower, I wrote:"The activity involved teams of 4 students. Each team got 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of masking tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow. The goal was to use only those materials to build the tallest free-standing tower, with the marshmallow on top, in 18 minutes..."I went on to carefully explain the rest of the rules and objectives. Describing it clearly is important so your reader knows exactly what happened. The Process and ChallengesThen you want to talk about the process your team went through to actually do the activity. What were the steps you took? What challenges or problems did you run into along the way? How did you work together and communicate as a team? For my report, I wrote something like:"At first, our team had a hard time agreeing on the best design for the tower. Jay wanted to make a tripod base, but Sarah thought a square base would be sturdier... We finally decided to try Sarah's idea first and make the square base."I described how we split up roles, shared materials, gave each other ideas and feedback, and worked to resolve the conflicts that came up. I was really honest about the difficult moments too, when we struggled with frustrations or made mistakes. What We Accomplished and LearnedThe last two key sections are: 1) What your team ultimately accomplished in the activity, and 2) What you learned about teamwork from the whole experience. For accomplishments, I talked about how we ended up building a tower that was 26 inches tall and stayed up for over 2minutes before collapsing. I celebrated that we worked really hard, communicated well by the end, and produced something we could be proud of as a team. Then for what I learned, I reflected on how important it is to keep an open mind, make decisions together democratically, be willing to compromise, and never give up when you hit a roadblock. I realized good teamwork takes patience, listening, and believing in your group's ability to solve problems.I gave specific examples of moments when those teamwork skills kicked in and made a difference for us. That's a great way to wrap up the report and share your biggest takeaways.ConclusionWell, that's the basics of how to write an awesome team building report! The key things to include are:An intro explaining the group and activityDetailed description of the activityThe process your team went through, including challengesWhat you accomplished in the endWhat you learned about teamworkDoes it make sense? Writing these reports is actually really fun because you get to relive the whole experience again. It also helps lock in those important lessons about teamwork. The next time your class or group does a team building activity, you'll be an expert report writer! Just follow those steps and you're golden. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇4The Team Building ReportHey guys! Today I want to tell you all about team building reports. I had to write one for my soccer team and it was a lot of fun! A team building report is like a story that explains how a group of people came together and learned to work as a team. The first part of the report is the introduction. This is where you tell the reader what the report is about and why it's important. For my report, I wrote about how our soccer team wasn't playing very well at the start of the season because we weren't working together. My coach said we needed to do some team building activities to learn how to cooperate and support each other. The next part is the body of the report. This is where you describe all the team building activities you did and what you learned from them. Our first activity was the human knot. We all stood in a circle, reached our arms across, and grabbed someone else's hand. Then we had to untangle ourselves without letting go! It was really tricky but we had to communicate and work together to solve the problem.Another activity we did was called minefield. Our coach set up a course with lots of obstacles, like cones and buckets, scattered around. One person had to guide the rest of us through the minefield while we were blindfolded. The guide had to give clear instructions and we had to listen carefully. It taught us about leadership and trust. We also did some fun games like building the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows. It wasn't as easy as it sounds! We had to plan our strategy, divide up the tasks, and encourage each other. Whenever our tower fell over, we didn't give up - we just tried again with a new plan.In the body of the report, you want to describe each activity in detail and explain what teamwork skills you practiced, like communication, problem-solving, or supporting each other. Youcan also include quotes from your teammates about what they learned. The last part of the report is the conclusion. This is where you summarize the main points and explain how the team building activities helped your group become a better team. I wrote about how our soccer team started playing much better after the activities because we were finally working together, passing the ball, and cheering each other on.The conclusion is also a good place to talk about what you might do differently next time and how you can continue building your teamwork skills in the future. For example, I said our team should have more team meetings to make sure everyone feels included and has a chance to share their ideas.Well, that's the basic structure of a team building report! Starting with an introduction, then describing all the activities in detail in the body, and finishing with a conclusion that wraps everything up. It's a great way to record your team's journey and reflect on how far you've come.Teamwork makes the dreamwork, as they say! Writing this report made me really appreciate how important it is for a group to cooperate, communicate, and support each other. I'm proud of how my soccer team learned those skills and became like afamily. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to do some awesome team building activities too!篇5Team Building Report: Working Together is Fun!Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you all about team building reports. My class did a really cool team building activity last week and then we had to write a report about it. Let me explain what a team building report is and what should go in it.A team building report is all about describing an activity or project that helps a group of people work better as a team. The point is to get everyone cooperating, communicating well, and using each person's strengths. That way the team can accomplish more together than they could separately.Team building is super important, especially when you have to work on big projects or assignments as a group. If people don't work well together, they might fight or have trouble sharing ideas. But if they are a good team, they can divide up the work fairly and help each other out. My teacher says teamwork makes the dreamwork! So after you do a team building activity, you write up a report to describe what you did and what you learned. The report should have a clear structure with different sections. Here are the main parts it should include:IntroductionThe introduction explains what the report is about. You need to give an overview of the team building activity and state the purpose of the report. Maybe something like "This report describes the team building activity our class did on April 15th and what we learned about working together effectively."Description of the ActivityThis is where you describe the actual team building exercise or project your group did. You want to explain it in detail so readers understand exactly what happened. For my class, we had to split into small teams and work together to build the tallest free-standing structure we could using only spaghetti noodles, marshmallows, and tape. Each team got the same supplies and had 30 minutes to plan, build, and testing their structure. We couldn't use anything else except the supplies provided. It was really hard!Teamwork ChallengesAn important part of the report is discussing any challenges or difficulties your team faced while working together. Maybe people had conflicting ideas, or certain tasks were hard to coordinate. For my group, we struggled at first because some people wanted to start building right away while others wanted to spend more time planning a design. We had to stop and discuss roles and responsibilities first before we could make progress.Problem-Solving StrategiesThis section covers how your team tried to overcome the teamwork challenges you faced. What strategies did you use to solve problems, make decisions, and resolve disagreements within the group? My team's solution was to have one person lead as the project manager and then we each took on specific roles like designer, construction worker, and supply manager. Having defined roles and responsibilities helped a lot.Lessons LearnedFinally, you'll want to discuss what lessons about teamwork your group took away from the experience. What did you learn about working together effectively? What would you do differently next time? For us, the biggest lesson was the importance of clear communication and active listening. We had to make sure everyone understood the goal and the plan, and listen to each other's ideas with open minds. We also learned that it's okay to run into obstacles or setbacks - the key is having a good problem-solving process to get past them as a team.ConclusionTo wrap up the report, you'll want to restate the main purpose and summarize the key points about your team's experience and what you learned. You can also include any final thoughts or takeaways.Well, that's the basics of how to write a team building report! The goal is to describe your group's experience in a clear, organized way and reflect on the teamwork skills you developed. It's a great exercise in working together and then analyzing how you did.I had a lot of fun with the spaghetti tower activity and writing the report helped me think about what makes an effective team. Teamwork can definitely be challenging, but it's an important skill to practice. I can't wait for our next team project! Thanks for reading, friends! Let me know if you have any other questions.篇6Team Building ReportHi friends! Today I want to tell you all about team building reports. My teacher says they are super important for groups to work well together. What is a Team Building Report?A team building report is a paper that talks about how a group of people learned to cooperate and work as a team. It describes the activities they did and what they learned from them.It shows if the team building was successful in helping the group:Communicate betterSolve problems togetherUnderstand each other's strengths and rolesDevelop trust and support one anotherThe report explains what went well and what could be improved for future team building. It helps organizations figure out the best ways to create awesome teams! The ContentOkay, now let's dive into what a good team building report should include. It has a few main sections:IntroductionThis part introduces the team and explains why team building was needed. It might talk about challenges the group was facing that led them to do team building activities.Team Building ActivitiesHere you describe in detail the different exercises, games or challenges the group participated in during the team building session(s). You want to give enough information so the reader understands what happened.Observations and AnalysisThis is a very important section! You analyze how the team did during each activity. You look at things like:Communication between membersCollaboration and teamworkProblem-solving abilitiesLeadership that emergedAreas the team struggled or succeededYou use these observations to determine if the team building goals were met or not.Feedback from ParticipantsDirect feedback from the team members is super valuable. The report includes quotes, survey results or comments from people in the group about their experience with the activities. This shows different perspectives.RecommendationsFinally, based on all the observations and feedback, you make recommendations for how the team can continue building solid teamwork. Maybe you suggest other activities to try or areas for improvement. That covers the key content areas! Let me give you an example of how it might read...The StructureIntroductionOur sales team of 8 people attended a team building retreat last weekend. (another recommendation for improvement). With practice applying the skills learned during these team building activities, I believe this sales team has the potential to become a highly effective, collaborative unit. The End!So that gives you an idea of what a team building report looks like - the key sections and how to structure the content. It takes lots of observations during the activities, analysis of how the team performed, and thoughtful recommendations.Team building reports may seem sort of boring. But they are really important for helping groups understand how to work better together. And that helps teams achieve much more than they could individually!Let me know if any part was unclear or if you need any clarification. Writing a detailed report takes practice, but I'm happy to provide more examples. Thanks for reading!。

商务英语阅读Team-building for charity brings tears to my eyes

Team-buidling for charity brings tears to my eyesBy Sathnam Sanghera58 British managers from John Lewis, the privately run retailer have released a music album for charity. The worthwhile cause is Whizz-Kidz, a charity dedicated to helping …non-mobile children‟. And the record in question is entitled New Shop On the Block. These managers were given the task of composing arranging, producing and recording the LP as part of a team-building exercise, the aim of which was to bond them in a …powerful collective experience‟. As he gave me the CD, the man from the training company that organized this …Face the Music‟exercise for John Lewis remarked that the task had …created one of the most highly bonded teams‟ he had ever come across. It was also …very deep‟ in terms of the changes it made in them. “The managing director involved in the project was crying by the end,” he explained.A couple of hours later, when I played the CD for the first time, I understood exactly what he meant. The record made me want to weep too. And it wasn‟t just the awfulness of the music that upset me. It was also the fact that …Face the Music‟marked a worrying trend in team-building exercise.Once upon a time, people just came to work and bonded by …working and getting along with each other‟. Sometimes they would …go for a drink after work‟, …play football on Saturday‟ or …go for dinner at the weekend‟. But, generally speaking, team-building was a casual, natural, informal thing. Then, in the 1980s, the business world decided that the only way of establishing a rapport between colleagues was by getting them to do group activities together----preferably on weekends, preferably outdoors and preferably in the rain. The idea as that workers would become immersed in an activity, learn new skills together and become closer-knit as a result. A search through the cuttings shows that, over time, businesses have asked employees to participate in every group activity under the sun in the name of team-building: participating, mountain climbing, Porsche racing, sailing horse whispering, clowning, treasure hunting, potholing, go-karting, cookery, international folk dancing, wine blending—and, my own favorite, motorized toilet-bowl racing. While such exercises are generally useless, as most take place behind closed doors or in the middle of now where, they are also mostly harmless. However, exercises such as …Face the Music‟represent something new and ominous. Unlike paintballing and motorized toilet-bowl racing, these …multi-sensory experience‟ require an audience. And if there is one thing more excruciating than being involved in a team-building exercise, it is watching or enduring someone else‟s team-building exercise. I speak from experience, having listened to New Shop On the Block three times. John Lewis may defend the release of its atrocious album by saying it will raise money for a good cause. And the charity element is certainly a mitigating factor. But I suspect that the people who have heard it would give even more generously if their donations meant they would never have to listen to New Shop On the Block ever again.1.Choose the best heading for each paragraph of the article.a)Bonding at work in the days before team-building exercisesb)Department store managers make a record for charityc)The project is a team-building exercised)The range of team-building activitiese)But someone has to watch or listenf)How could the album generate bigger donations?g)And the music?2.Answer these questions according to the information in paragraph 1.a)What is the name of the charity and what does it do?b)What is the name of the album—and why does it have that name?plete these sentences about paragraph 2 with correct forms of the verbs in the box.a)These managers were ______________ the task of composing, arranging, producing andrecording an LP.b)The aim of the team-building exercise was to ______________ the managers in a …powerfulcollective experience‟.c)The man from the training company that ______________ this …Face the Music‟ exercise forJohn Lewis _______________ that the task had …created one of the most highly bonded teams‟ he had ever ______________.d)The managing director _____________ in the project was ____________ by the end of theactivity.4.Before looking at paragraphs 3 and 4 again, match the two halves of the exercises below.a) to understand a trendb) to upset for a drinkc) to face with someoned) to mark what someone meanse) to get along someonef) to go the musicWhich one of them means:1to make a person unhappy?2to indicate the start of a new fashion?3to see the significance in a person‟s words?4to live work with a person successfully and in a friendly way?5to have to deal with the unpleasant consequences of your own actions?5.Before looking at paragraph 5 again, match the two halves of the sentences below.a)in the 1980s, the business world decided that there was only one way…b)This was by getting them…c)The idea was that workers would become immersed…d)They would learn new skills together and become closer-knit…e)Mr Sanghera, the author of this article, has made a search…f)This shows that, over time, businesses have asked employees…1….to participate in every group activity under the sun in the name of team-building.2….through his collection of old articles from newspapers.3….of establishing a rapport between colleagues.4….to do group activities together.5….in an activity.6….as a result.6.Answer these questions according to the information in paragraph 6.a)How does Mr Sanghera rate team-building exercise?b)What does he find ominous?7.Here are the answers, complete the questions.a)What ______________________________________________________?Watching or enduring someone else‟s team-building exercise.b)How _______________________________________________________?Three times.c)How _______________________________________________________?By saying it will raise money for a good cause.d)What _______________________________________________________?The charity element.e)What _______________________________________________________?Guaranteeing that they would never have to listen to the CD again!。

What benefits did this bring?好,我们先来看文章的题目。

No longer Poles apart

When Peter Welch, president of Cussons Polska and Uroda SA, arrived at Cusson’s newly acquired factory in Poland in 1993, he discovered that the concept of teamwork didn’t exist. 1993年,当卡森波兰公司和乌诺达股份有限公司总裁彼得·维奇刚到在波兰新并购的工厂时,他发现那儿根本不存在团队合作的概念。

Uroda SA: 乌诺达股份有限公司。

SA是法语,有时也写成S / A或S.A.。

意思是“股份有限公司”。

acquire收购:to become the owner of; to buy; to get the possession of acquire原来的意思是“获得”,“占有”。

在商务英语中,它的意思是“收购”。

Who Killed Nokia? Nokia executives attempted to explain its fall from the top of the smartphone pyramid with three factors: 1) that Nokia was technically inferior to Apple, 2) that the company was complacent and 3) that its leaders didn't see the disruptive iPhone coming. It has also been argued that it was none of the above. Nokia lost the smartphone battle because of divergent shared fears among the company's middle and top managers which led to company-wide inertia that left it powerless to respond to Apple's game. Based on the findings of an in-depth investigation and 76 interviews with top and middle managers, engineers and external experts, the researchers discovered a culture of fear due to temperamental leaders and that frightened middle managers were scared of telling the truth. The fear that froze the company came from two places. First, the company's top managers had a terrifying reputation. Some members of Nokia's board and top management were described as “extremely temperamental” and they regularly shouted at people “at the top of their lungs”. It was very difficult to tell them things they didn't want to hear. Secondly, top managers were afraid ofthe external environment and not meeting their quarterly targets, which also impacted how they treated middle managers. Top managers thus made middle managers afraid of disappointing them. Middle managers were told that they were not ambitious enough to meet top managers'goals. Fearing the reactions of top managers, middle managers remained silent or provided optimistic, filtered information. Thus, middle managers directly lied to top management. Worse, a culture of status inside Nokia made everyone want to hold onto vested power for fear of resources being allocated elsewhere if they delivered bad news or showed that they were not bold or ambitious enough to undertake challenging assignments. Beyond verbal pressure, top managers also applied pressure for faster performance in personnel selection. This led middle managers to over promise and under deliver. One middle manager told us that “you can get resources by promising something earlier, or promising a lot. It's sales work.” While modest fear might be h ealthy for motivation, abusing it can be like overusing a drug, which risks generating harmful side effects. To reduce this risk, leaders should coordinate with the varied emotions of the staff. Nokia's top managers should have encouraged safe dialogue, internal coordination andfeedback to understand the true emotion in the organization. 操作提示:正确选T,错误选F。

TEAMCHARTERTEMPLATE团队宪章模板

TemplateTeam CharterA team charter can be prepared for many reasons. One is to document the team’s purpose and clearly define individual roles, responsibilities, and operating rules. Second, it can be used to establish procedures for both the team and agency management on communicating, reporting, and decisionmaking. It can be a blueprint for business acquisitions and it defines how the team is empowered to work, including assigning responsibility and authority. Last, it facilitates stakeholder buy-in by including key members in the decisionmaking process and helping to obtain their concurrence. The charter includes the following sections:1. Purpose(Describe why the team is being formed and the anticipated outcomes.)2. Background(Summarize the program or project the team is supporting; state how the team fits within the agenc y’s organizational structure; identify the users/customers of the program/project, including external customers and stakeholders; list the estimated cost of the acquisition over the life cycle; and describe special circumstances surrounding the acquisition.)3. Scope(State the scope, mission, and objectives for the acquisition and the team’s role in achieving them—this is similar to preparing a mission need statement. Define the high-level goals the team/acquisition must accomplish.)4. Team composition(Identify the functional areas and agency organizational components represented, and the number of members from each; list the core [essential] members versus support or advisory members, and their full- or part-time designation; and the anticipatedtime/resource commitments for the anticipated duration of the team.)5. Membership roles(Identify roles and responsibilities for each team member. List member name; organization; contact information, including telephone and email address; and the team role, if already designated. Also, identify the specific functional level of expertise associated with each member.)6. Team empowerment(Define the existing authority the team, its individual membership, already has; additional authority needed to fully perform, as envisioned by the team objectives; and level of empowerment requested.)7. Team operations(Describe team operational plans, including, for example, su ch activities as the team’s decisionmaking processes, how changes in membership occur should the need arise, plans to establish ground or operating rules, relationships with other organizational entities or teams, logistical support, etc.)8. Team performance assessment(Document key areas of performance needed for team success, including a way to measure progress.)9. Acquisition milestones and schedules(Include major activities and milestones forecasted along with associated time frames and schedule.)10. Signature page(Each team member signs, agreeing to the contents and to being held mutually accountable for adherence.)11. Approval(Individual[s] authorized to approve the team charter, including granting the authorities requested above, sign with their approval.)。

WhyTeamBuildingActivitiesareImportant

WhyTeamBuildingActivitiesareImportant

WhyTeamBuildingActivitiesareImportant ListenWhy Team Building Activities are ImportantTeam building is very important in our daily life, be it work, play or family. This article will show you why this is so.AdvertisementTeam work is a much emphasized aspect in every walk of life. If one is capable of working well in a team, it says a lot about the character of the person. Teamwork involves a lot of patience, perseverance, open mindedness, humility and willingness to give up on a lot of things that you wouldn't normally give up. It teaches you to focus on the main objective of the team and drives you to achieve it, along with your team-mates. This Buzzle article will highlight more such reasons validating the importance of team building activities.Better ProductivityThe first and most logical reason for building teams, whether in a classroom of children, in a sport or in an organization is that acting as a team, by default, results in a better productivity, quantity wise and quality wise. When you team a group of people for a job, they put their heads together and come up with a wayto complete it in the shortest time and in the most efficient manner. So, they get to know the importance of effective time management and also learn that working in a team enables delegation of duties, which in turn helps to perform the given job better.Inter-personal CommunicationCommunication is an important aspect of our daily lives. We encounter people throughout the day and the need to communicate arises constantly. Unfortunately, its importance is grossly undermined in today's times. Hence, in order to get your employees or students to communicate with each other, that too effectively, the best tool you can use is dividing them into teams. Teams warrant compulsory communication for a task to be completed, so the people involved in them have no choice but to communicate. This will help them to get to know each other better and also gauge what are each others' strengths and weaknesses.Problem SolvingWorking as a team, whether in reality or in a game, generally garners better and quicker solutions to problems. This can be verified by a simple problem solving activity assigned to a team. They will themselves realize that with more heads thinking, and more innovative ideas, there are bound to be more solutions to the problem. From these, the most feasible option can be selected by a vote (which is also a version of teamwork) and used to eventually solve the problem in a much shorter period.Building ResponsibilityWhen you are a part of a team, you are responsible not only for yourself, but also for your teammates. You are merely a part of a whole. You represent the entire team. So wherever you go, you take an image of your team along with you. For students, it is the school they're from. For working professionals, it is the organization on the whole that they represent. Hence, this realization leads to a sense of responsibility within each member of the team, which shapes them not only as team members, but also as individuals.Adjusting and AcceptanceWhen you work as a team, you have no choice but to give up any personal prejudices and other issues that you have and behave in a manner that becomes a team. You may have come across people who simply cannot adjust to different surroundings and hence make it a point to have their discomfort become the center of everyone's attention. The reasons may vary from person to person. These are the people who are not team players, and if not asked to adjust, can turn out to be quite detrimental to the final result of the team's output. For this, everyone needs to work as a team. There can be many more reasons why it is important to conduct activities that promote team building. These were just the fundamental few that need to be highlighted and stressed in every institution that requires its members to work together as a team, for the desired optimum output.Sujata IyerApril 8, 2011Reprint PermissionTeam Building Share。

• Once all of these questions and items have been documented, your charter should be signed by the team sponsor and each team member. • This will cement the agreement and make it easier to hold people accountable. • It also ensures that every team member understands and is on board with the complete charter.
Approach
• How and when will the team meet? • What are the norms or ground rules that the team will agree to? • How we make decisions? • How will we hold each other accountable for these things and for task completion? • Who will communicate team progress and to whom? • Your charter should also include a high level look at the major phases or milestones in the life of the team and outline those.
CHARTER (Team processes): An example from EMBA Simulation Team
We begin each meeting with a review of the last decisions and performances. Set the goals for the next period. The meeting rules are going to be: Purpose of meeting: Identify the purpose of the meeting. The team agrees on deliverables for the meeting. Agenda: Identify the steps to be taken and topics to be discussed. The team generates and agrees upon an agenda and allocates time per item. Code of Conduct: Arrive on time, Stick to the agenda, 3 knock rule if any team member deviates from the agenda, One person speaks at a time, No sidebars, Seek for consensus, if consensus cannot be achieved, CEO decides.
Why is it important to build a team charter?
• Set up a clear expectation among team members
• Make a behavioral guideline for the team work - Reduce potential group process loss • Minimize unnecessary conflicts due to diversity - particularly for cross-cultural or cross-functional teams
What is a team charter?
• A charter is a document that describes the purpose, boundaries and agreements of the team. • It is co-created by whoever is sponsoring or forming the team and by those who will be on the team. • The power of this document comes from the conversation and agreements that are recorded on it.
Roles
• Who is the team leader? • What is their role? • Who is responsible for facilitation, logistics, and information management? • Who will be responsible for communication to stakeholders and the team sponsor? • How will each person be involved in decision making?
