I tried to encourage her too, but really, I was thinking﹣this is going to be a disaster. Not because I thought she would get hurt. More because I thought she wouldn't be able to pick up enough speed to balance, then get really discouraged, and give up quickly. I imagined her throwing her bicycle to the ground and then crying all the way home. But I was only half right. Lucy did have a lot of trouble riding the bike. She couldn't find her balance. She fell many times. At one point, she almost started crying because younger kids were getting angry that she was slowing everyone else down. But she did not give up. She kept picking herself up and trying again. She even took the bike off the track and into the main park to practice pushing off and picking up speed on a flat ground. When she felt more confident, she came back. Then she did it over and over again until she finally reached her goal of going around the whole track without falling once. Then she didn't want to leave and everyone was cheering her on.This was not a day that ended in a disaster. It was a day when Lucy learned that perseverance pays off.(1)Why was Lucy taken to the park last weekend?A. TO play other kids.B. To discover a track for fun.C. To find her speed was too slow.D. They are officially classified as harmful and farmers try to keep their numbers down by shooting orpoisoning them.Farmers can also call on the services of their local hunt to control the foxpopulation. Hunting consists ofpursuing a fox across the countryside, with a group of specially trained dogs, followed by men and women ridinghorses. When the dogs eventually catch the fox they kill it or a hunter shoots it.People who take part in hunting think of it as a sport; they wear a specialuniform of red coats and whitetrousers, and follow strict codes of behavior. But owning a horse and hunting regularly is expensive, so mosthunters are wealthy. It is estimated that up to 100,000 people watch or take part in fox hunting. But over thelastcouple of decadesthe number of people opposed to fox hunting, because they think it is brutal (残酷的), has risen sharply. Nowadaysit is rare for a hunt to pass off without some kind of confrontation (冲突) between hunters and hunt saboteurs (阻拦者). Sometimes these incidents lead to violence, but mostly saboteurs interfere with the hunt by misleading ridersand disturbing the trail of the fox's smell, which the dogs follow.Noisy confrontations between hunters and saboteurs have become so common thatthey are almost as much apart of hunting as the pursuit of foxes itself. But this year supporters of fox hunting face a much bigger threat totheir sport.
这些语气词有:must, never, the most, all, merely, only, have to, any, no, completely, none, hardly,等。
这些词有:could, may, often, should, usually, might, most, more or less, likely, possible等(6).(尤其在议论文中)那些符合一般常识,意义深刻有哲理,属于普遍现象的选项往往是答案(7).
1.问句式A. Which of the following people should(not) do it?Where should somebody do something?B.
These valuable animals are unusual in that they do not have front teeth in their upper jaw. Instead they chew with their back teeth and gums (齿龈). Cows swallow their food quickly and store it in the fat stomach or rumen, the first of the four compartments stomachs in their.Questions: According to the passage, what is the rumen?A. The first stomach compartment.B. The name of the upper jaw.C. The stomach where digestion (消化) takes place.D. The name of the bacteria(细菌) in the cow's stomach.
People are looking for better ways to . .B.
3.排除式A. Which of the following is NOT included in the passage?B.
1. What is the best title for/of the passage?2. What does the author mainly tell us about in the text?
People who talk and sing to plants have no mental problems at all, according to an agricultural expert. "In fact, singing and talking to plants makes them grow better," says Dr Braymar. The reason is quite simple. When we sing or talk to plants, we exhale(呼出) CO2 which plants need to survive (continue to live)and grow better. Plants absorb (take in) CO2 through their pores(小孔) during the sunlight hours and produce oxygen which people to survive. Singing and talking have good effect on plants, however, only during the daytime. Singing or talking at bedtime will not help plants to grow better or grow faster.
