2020年高考英语外刊时事命题阅读理解:保护濒危海龟 ,争做海龟守护者!
Hero of turtle protection保护濒危海龟——争做海龟守护者Sea turtles are considered a national treasure in Sri Lanka. However, in recent years, the sea turtles have faced great challenges in their continued survival. Thousands of sea turtles are injured by fishing boats, people and even marine (海洋的) garbage.Growing up on the beach, Chamara Indika, 35, saw it all. In the beginning, he devoted himself to the protection of sea turtles as a volunteer. He gave his spare time to raise awareness of caring for sea turtles and carried out sea turtle protection and rescue missions (任务).Later, he decided that this was not a long-term solution. “One person’s abilities are very limited and I wanted to make real changes,” said Indika.By chance, Jack Xiao, the founder of Chinese YIK International V olunteers (YIKIV), reached out to Indika and offered his help to protect sea turtles. In 2016, Indika set up the Nil Manel Foundation, a local organization which is also a member of YIKIV, to conduct volunteer activities in Sri Lanka. Welcoming volunteers from all over the world to the island, the Nil Manel Foundation provides professional training and guidance to them, spreads knowledge of turtle and marine conservation (保护), and carries out conservation activities. V olunteers can then work to spread their new knowledge to more people. At first, the volunteers’ main job was to rescue and care for injured turtles and conductturtle conservation campaigns locally. YIKIV members then saw that turtle conservation couldn’t stop there. For example, turtles leave eggs on beaches. People and animals eat turtle eggs. So volunteers started a night patrol (巡逻) and transferred (转移) eggs to a protection center with artificial cultivation (人工培育). It guaranteed higher survival rates. As things stand now, their approach was correct. The survival rate of newborn turtles has reached new highs, and conservation awareness has also increased. Many volunteers now refuse to use straws (吸管) and plastic bags which cause many turtles to die accidentally.“It made me feel that all my work had paid off. But it was not enough to rely on myself and the current volunteers. It would be important to pass this knowledge down to future generations,” said Indika. As you know, great changes require persistence and hard work. Indika firmly believes that in the long run, there will be even bigger effects.(选自Nil Manel Foundation)1. What do we know about Indika?A. He has studied sea turtles since early childhood.B. He has gone to many countries to find volunteers.C. He offers volunteers professional support to protect sea turtles.D. He established a foundation to protect sea turtles all by himself.2. What did the Nil Manel Foundation’s volunteers do?A. They built up a special area for sea turtles to lay eggs.B. They patrolled beaches day and night to collect turtle eggs.C. They carried sea turtle eggs left on beaches to a protection center.D. They made eco-friendly products to replace plastic products.3. What can we infer from the last three paragraphs?A. The use of straws should be banned.B. Sea turtle protection is a long and lasting mission.C. The impact of Indika’s efforts remains to be seen.D. The Sea Turtle 译文
The Sea TurtleD had a lovely three-year-old daughter, whose needs he would try his best to satisfy. Since it took about two hours for him to go to work from his home, he always went back home on weekends in order to save time on the way. Everytime he returned home, his daughter asked him to tell bedtime story. After a year, he almost had told all stories he knew, such as stories about big bad wolf and little white rabbit. However, the daughter won’t let it go at that. Unwilling to go to bed, she hugged D’s knee. Even his wife had no way with her.D felt extreme anxious. Though on the weekend, he had to finish writing an essay at night, for the leader of the research institute personally designated him to deliver a speech at an academic conference. Therefore, he would have a chance to show his abilities and talents in front of counterparts in the field.“Dad, please tell me a story.” The daughter pestered him. What else could he tell? He really had no spare time. The speech was related to recognize his actual abilities and personal value. What’s more, it was said that a new round of conferring academic titles would come soon.It occurred to him that an interesting story, which he just had a casual glace on the daily newspaper, could deal with his daughter at the moment.Once upon a time, on an island ... He tried to be patient to tell the story to his daughter. Every household there raised a kind of big sea turtles. They were as large as a small table and they had hard shell and thick claws. There was no car, no bike or donkey in that island, therefore, one must ride a sea turtle if he wanted to drop in on another. The sea turtle’s favorite food were bananas. Master sat on his sea turtle, holding a slender rod fastening a rope with bananas. So the bananas was right above the head of the sea turtle, only a few feet. If Sea turtle wanted to eat banana, it would craw forward. However, once it went forward, the banana held by the man’s rod would also go ahead. Since it couldn’t get the banana, it would craw forward all along. Just like this, person on the sea turtle’s back finally reached his destination...The daughter unknowingly fell into asleep with shallow dimple in her cheeks.Due to his continuous hard work in writing the essay day and night, his speech was quite successful and his essay received widely praise, collected in the monographic series of annual conference that year. Some whispered that he had the ability to be an associate research fellow though he was a research assistant.Time went by so fast. It was Saturday again. When he picked up his daughter in the kindergarten, it struck him that he had forgotten preparing stories for her. To his surprise, before going to sleep, his daughter said to him,“Dad, could you still tell the story of the sea turtle?” He sighed with relief, but felt strange why his daughter was so interested in the story....Just like this, person on the sea turtle’s back finally reached his destination. After he perfunctorily finished telling the story, he found that he had no mood to company his daughter, but actually, he still dwell on his professional title. If he could be promoted to associate research fellow this time, his family would be distributed a new apartment with two bedrooms and his salary would increase dozens of yuan, which was a large number. Yesterday his leader assigned him new tasks that he was supposed to translate a two-hundred-page work about W theory within a month, compile a new dictionary within three months, and co-write a review about the theory of W within six months... He even had no idea how to finish all those tasks.“What happened to the man riding the sea turtle after he reached his destination?”Unexpectedly, the daughter didn’t fall asleep, winking her grape-like eyes.He answered that, after the man reached the destination, he turned over the sea turtle, therefore, it couldn’t escape but had to wait until its master finished his affairs and turned it over again. Impatiently patting his daughter’s head, he handed her to his wife.。

海龟英语作文The sea turtle is a fascinating creature that has captured the hearts of people all over the world. With its distinctive appearance and gentle nature, it is no wonder that sea turtles have become a symbol of wisdom, endurance, and longevity.Sea turtles are found in all the world's oceans, from the cold waters of the Arctic to the warm tropical seas. There are seven different species of sea turtles, all of which are listed as either endangered or threatened. Thisis largely due to human activities such as pollution, habitat destruction, and the poaching of eggs and adults.Sea turtles are remarkable creatures for many reasons. They can live for decades, with some individuals reaching over 100 years old. They are also known for theirincredible migrations, traveling thousands of miles between their feeding and nesting grounds. Despite being excellent swimmers, sea turtles are not well adapted to life on land and can struggle to move on land. One of the most impressive things about sea turtles is their nesting behavior. Female sea turtles return to the same beach where they were born to lay their eggs, often traveling thousands of miles to reach their nesting grounds. Once they have laid their eggs, the female turtles returnto the ocean, leaving the eggs to hatch on their own. Thisis a perilous time for the hatchlings, as they must make their way to the sea and evade predators.Sea turtles are also important for the health of marine ecosystems. They are herbivores and help to maintain the health of seagrass beds and coral reefs by grazing on algae. Their presence in these ecosystems helps to support a diverse array of marine life.In recent years, efforts have been made to protect sea turtles and their habitats. Conservation organizations and governments around the world have established protected areas and implemented measures to reduce threats to sea turtles. These efforts have had some success, with populations of some sea turtle species showing signs of recovery.Overall, sea turtles are an important and beloved partof the world's oceans. Their gentle nature and majestic presence have captured the hearts of people around the world. The Enchantment of Sea Turtles: A GlobalConservation StoryAmid the vastness of the ocean, a gentle creaturefloats gracefully, embodying the essence of survival and resilience. The sea turtle, a symbol of endurance and adaptability, has fascinated humans for centuries with its unique appearance and remarkable life cycle. However, despite its remarkable abilities, the sea turtle now faces an uncertain future due to the threats posed by human activities.Sea turtles are ancient mariners, having survived on Earth for over 100 million years. They are classified into seven species, each with its own unique characteristics and habitats. From the leatherback turtle, the largest of all sea turtles, to the Kemp's ridley turtle, the smallest and most endangered, each species holds a crucial place in the marine ecosystem. These turtles migrate thousands of miles between feeding and nesting grounds, often crossing paths with human activities. Unfortunately, this intersection has led to a decline in sea turtle populations. Fishing gear, pollution, and climate change have taken a heavy toll on these creatures, pushing them to the brink of extinction. To combat these threats, global conservation efforts have been launched. Countries have banned the hunting and trade of sea turtles, established protected nesting beaches, and implemented sustainable fishing practices. Community-based conservation programs have also been established, involving local fishermen and residents in sea turtle protection. These efforts have yielded some positive results. Sea turtle populations have begun to recover in some areas, and the number of nesting females has increased. However, the road ahead is still long and challenging. The continued existence of sea turtles depends on our collective effortsto protect their habitats and reduce the impact of human activities. The story of sea turtles is not just about these remarkable creatures but also about our own responsibility towards the environment. 海龟的哭诉作文英语
海龟的哭诉作文英语The Lament of the Sea Turtle。
As I swim through the vast ocean, I cannot help butfeel a deep sense of sorrow and despair. The world that I once knew and loved is slowly slipping away, and I fearthat my kind may soon be nothing more than a distant memory. This is my lament, the cry of a sea turtle who has seen too much and fears for the future of our world.Once, the ocean was a place of wonder and beauty, teeming with life and color. I would glide through the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by schools of fish and vibrant coral reefs. The ocean was my home, my sanctuary, and I felt a deep connection to the world around me. But now, as I swim through these same waters, I am greeted by a very different sight. The once-thriving coral reefs have been bleached and destroyed, the fish have dwindled in number, and the ocean is filled with the debris of human civilization. Plastic bags, discarded fishing gear, andother pollutants now litter the once-pristine waters, choking the life out of the ocean and leaving it a mere shadow of its former self.I have witnessed the devastation that humans have wrought upon the ocean, and it fills me with a profound sense of grief. It seems that humans have forgotten thatthe ocean is not just a resource to be exploited, but a delicate ecosystem that is home to countless species, including my own. The reckless overfishing, pollution, and climate change have taken a heavy toll on the ocean, and I fear that if things do not change soon, it may be too lateto save it.But it is not just the ocean that is in danger. My own kind, the sea turtles, are also facing a bleak future. Our nesting beaches are disappearing due to coastal development, and many of us fall victim to fishing nets and plastic pollution. The once-thriving populations of sea turtles are now dwindling, and I fear that if we do not take action soon, we may soon be gone from this world forever.I do not write this lament to inspire pity or sympathy, but rather to call attention to the plight of the ocean and all its inhabitants. We must all come together to protect and preserve this precious resource, for the sake of future generations and for the sake of all the creatures that call the ocean home. We must take action to reduce our plastic consumption, to fish sustainably, and to combat climate change. We must work to create marine protected areas and to enforce regulations that will safeguard the ocean andits inhabitants.I know that the task ahead of us is daunting, but I also know that it is not impossible. If we come together and take action now, we can still save the ocean and all the wondrous creatures that call it home. We must act with urgency and determination, for the ocean cannot afford to wait any longer. So I leave you with this lament, a cry from the depths of the ocean, a plea for help. I hope that my words will inspire you to take action and to join me in the fight to save the ocean. Together, we can make a difference, andtogether, we can ensure that the ocean remains a place of wonder and beauty for generations to come.。
保护海龟濒临灭绝的英语作文
保护海龟濒临灭绝的英语作文The Plight of Sea Turtles: A Plea for ConservationSea turtles have been roaming the oceans for millions of years, surviving through the rise and fall of countless species. These ancient mariners have witnessed the ebb and flow of life on our planet, yet they now face a grave threat to their very existence. As the world's population continues to grow and human activities encroach upon their natural habitats, sea turtles are being pushed to the brink of extinction. It is our responsibility to take action and protect these remarkable creatures before they are lost forever.Sea turtles play a vital role in the delicate balance of marine ecosystems. As they migrate across vast expanses of ocean, they act as important indicators of the health of our oceans. Their presence or absence can reveal the state of the environment and the impact of human activities on these fragile systems. Sea turtles are also keystone species, meaning that their survival is essential for the survival of many other organisms that depend on them. One of the primary threats to sea turtles is the loss of their nesting habitats. Coastal development, tourism, and human activity havedestroyed or degraded many of the beaches where sea turtles come to lay their eggs. As these vital nesting sites disappear, sea turtle populations are unable to replenish themselves, leading to a steady decline in their numbers.Another major threat to sea turtles is the impact of commercial fishing operations. Sea turtles often become entangled in fishing nets and lines, leading to injury or death. The practice of using long-line fishing, which involves setting miles of baited hooks, has been particularly devastating to sea turtle populations. Thousands of these gentle creatures are accidentally caught and killed each year, further exacerbating the crisis.Pollution and marine debris also pose a grave threat to sea turtles. Plastic bags, discarded fishing gear, and other forms of litter can be mistaken for food by sea turtles, leading to choking, entanglement, and ultimately, death. The ingestion of plastic and other pollutants can also have devastating effects on the health and reproductive success of sea turtles.Climate change is another looming threat to sea turtles. Rising sea levels and increased storm activity can destroy nesting beaches, while changes in temperature can disrupt the delicate balance of sex determination in sea turtle hatchlings. As the planet continues to warm, the future of these ancient mariners hangs in the balance.Despite the many challenges they face, there is still hope for the conservation of sea turtles. Across the globe, dedicated individuals and organizations are working tirelessly to protect these creatures and their habitats. Through public education, policy changes, and grassroots conservation efforts, we can work to ensure that sea turtles continue to thrive in our oceans. One of the most important steps we can take is to support the establishment of marine protected areas. These designated zones, which are off-limits to human activities, provide safe havens for sea turtles and other marine life to thrive. By creating a network of these protected areas, we can help to ensure the long-term survival of sea turtle populations. In addition to protecting their habitats, we must also work to reduce the impact of human activities on sea turtles. This includes advocating for the use of turtle-friendly fishing gear, promoting the reduction of plastic waste, and supporting research and conservation efforts. By working together, we can make a real difference in the fight to save these remarkable creatures. The plight of sea turtles is a sobering reminder of the fragility of our planet and the urgent need for action. As stewards of the natural world, it is our responsibility to protect these ancient mariners andensure that they continue to grace our oceans for generations to come. Through our collective efforts, we can turn the tide and secure a brighter future for sea turtles and the entire marine ecosystem.。

Endangered Sea Turtles: A Cry forConservationAmidst the vast expanse of the oceans, sea turtles swim gracefully, traversing thousands of miles in search oftheir breeding grounds and food sources. These ancient reptiles, dating back millions of years, are not justmarine creatures; they are also a vital part of our ecosystem, playing crucial roles in maintaining the healthof coral reefs and sea grass beds. However, today, the survival of these majestic creatures is hanging by a thread, threatened by a myriad of anthropogenic activities. The plight of sea turtles is a stark reminder of the impact of human actions on the natural world. Habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and overexploitation for foodand the pet trade have all contributed to the decline ofsea turtle populations. Fishing nets and hooks often entrap these turtles, leading to their deaths or severe injuries. Coastal development and beachfront resorts have destroyed nesting beaches, preventing females from laying their eggs safely. Furthermore, plastic pollution in the oceans posesa significant threat, as sea turtles mistake floatingdebris for food, leading to intestinal blockages and eventual death.Climate change is another significant factor in the decline of sea turtle populations. Rising temperatures are causing coral reefs to bleach and die, destroying the habitats that sea turtles depend on for food and shelter. Additionally, warmer waters can affect the sex ratio of turtle hatchlings, skewing it towards females, further compromising the reproductive success of these species.Efforts to conserve sea turtles are underway in various parts of the world. Conservation programs involveprotecting nesting beaches, patrolling coasts to prevent illegal fishing and poaching, and establishing sanctuaries and breeding centers. However, these measures alone are not enough. A concerted effort from governments, organizations, and individuals is needed to ensure the survival of sea turtles.Governments must enforce stricter regulations toprotect sea turtle habitats and nesting beaches. They should also collaborate with international organizations to share best practices and resources in sea turtleconservation. Additionally, public awareness and education are crucial in changing attitudes and behaviors towards these endangered creatures. People must be encouraged to reduce their carbon emissions, minimize plastic usage, and support sustainable seafood practices. In conclusion, the conservation of sea turtles is not just about saving a species; it is about preserving the integrity of our marine ecosystems and the balance of nature. It is a responsibility that we, as humans, musttake seriously. By taking action now, we can ensure that these majestic creatures continue to swim in our oceans, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations to admire and cherish.**濒临动物海龟:保护的呼声**在浩瀚无垠的海洋中,海龟优雅地游弋,穿越数千英里寻找繁殖地和食物来源。

海龟的颜色 英文描述
海龟的颜色英文描述The coloration of sea turtles varies greatly among species, and it plays a crucial role in their survival and adaptation to different habitats. This essay aims to explore the diversity of colors observed in sea turtles, focusing on seven primary species: the green sea turtle, loggerhead sea turtle, hawksbill sea turtle, leatherback sea turtle, olive ridley sea turtle, Kemp's ridley sea turtle, and flatback sea turtle.Starting with the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), itis named after the greenish coloration of its fat and cartilage. However, their shells are not actually green;their carapace exhibits various shades of brown, olive, or black, often covered with algae that can give them a green appearance. The plastron, or the underside of their shell, is typically pale yellow. The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) has areddish-brown carapace, which is often marked with various shades of brown, reddish, or black. The loggerhead's carapace gets its name from its relatively large head, equipped with powerful jaws designed for crushing its prey. One of the most distinctive-looking sea turtles is the hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata). Its carapace features a beautiful arrangement of overlapping scales or plates, called scutes. These scutes have a unique pattern and can exhibit colors ranging from yellow, brown, amber, to shades of red. The hawksbill's mesmerizing shell is highly sought after for its use in jewelry and decorative items, tragically leading to their endangerment. The leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) boasts a unique appearance compared to other sea turtle species. Instead of a typical hard shell, they have a leathery carapace with longitudinal ridges. Their coloration variesfrom dark gray to black, occasionally with white or pink patches. This distinctive coloration helps them absorb heat from the sun, aiding their cold-blooded metabolism. The olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) predominantly exhibits a grayish-green coloration, which gives it its name. This species has a heart-shaped carapace with five distinct lateral scutes on both sides. While their carapace coloration is quite uniform, the plastron can vary from cream to light yellow.Kemp's ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys kempii) is one of the smallest and most endangered species among sea turtles. Similar to the olive ridley, it has a grayish-green carapace, particularly when young. However, as they grow older, their carapace transforms into a darker shade of gray or black, with occasional white or yellow spots.Lastly, the flatback sea turtle (Natator depressus) derives its name from its flat carapace. This species has aunique coloration, usually ranging from olive to gray, with occasional black spots or streaks. The flatback's carapace lacks the prominent scutes seen in other species, giving it a smoother appearance. It is noteworthy to mention that the colors of seaturtles can change as they age. Juveniles may exhibit different colors than adults, allowing them to camouflage in specific habitats and avoid predation. Moreover, environmental factors, such as water temperature and diet, can also influence their coloration. In conclusion, sea turtles exhibit a diverse array of colors across different species, ranging from green, brown, olive, and gray to black. These unique colorations have evolved as adaptations to their habitats, aiding in camouflage, thermoregulation, and overall survival. However, regardless of their color, sea turtles are incrediblecreatures that deserve our utmost protection and conservation efforts.。

Sea turtles play a crucial role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by controlling populations of jellyfish and other prey species.Another popular species of turtle is the red-eared slider, which is often kept as a pet. These turtles are native to North America and are known for their distinctive red stripe behind their eyes. Red-eared sliders are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals, and require a well-balanced diet to stay healthy.Turtles have been around for millions of years and have evolved into fascinating creatures with unique adaptations. One of the most remarkable features of turtles is their shell, which is made up of modified ribs, vertebrae, and other bones that are fused together to form a protective armor. The shell is an essential part of a turtle's anatomy, providing defense against predators and serving as a way to regulate body temperature. In addition to their shell, turtles have other interesting adaptations that help them survive in their environments. For example, some species of turtles have the ability to retract their head and limbs into their shell for added protection. Others have specialized digestive systems that allow them to eat tough vegetation or feed on small invertebrates.Turtles are fascinating creatures that have captured the hearts of people all around the world. Whether they are swimming gracefully in the ocean or basking in the sun on a riverbank, turtles are a symbol of resilience, longevity, and wisdom. By studying and protecting these remarkable creatures, we can learn more about the natural world and our place in it.篇3Turtles are reptiles with a shell that belongs to the Testudines order. They are known for their slow movements, peaceful nature, and long lifespan. There are over 300 different species of turtles, ranging in size from the tiny speckled padloper turtle to the massive leatherback turtle. One of the most common types of turtles is the red-eared slider. These turtles are popular pets due to their vibrant appearance and relatively easy care. They are native to the southern United States and Mexico but can now be found worldwide in captivity.Turtles are ectothermic, meaning they rely on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature. They bask in the sun to warm up and retreat into the shade or water to cool down. Turtles are also known for their unique shell, which is made up of bone covered by a layer of keratin.Turtles have a well-developed sense of smell and can detect food from a distance. They are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Common foods for pet turtles include leafy greens, insects, and commercial turtle pellets.Turtles reproduce by laying eggs. Female turtles dig a hole in the ground, lay their eggs, and cover them up with soil. The eggs are left to incubate for several weeks before hatching. Somespecies of turtles, such as the loggerhead sea turtle, return to the same beach where they were born to lay their own eggs.In conclusion, turtles are fascinating creatures with unique characteristics. They have captured the hearts of many people around the world and continue to be cherished as pets and symbols of longevity and wisdom.。
写一份保护一种濒危动物的倡议书,英语作文
写一份保护一种濒危动物的倡议书,英语作文Save the Sea Turtles!Have you ever seen a sea turtle up close? They are some of the coolest animals on the planet! With their hard shells, flipper feet, and big eyes, sea turtles look like they come from another world. But these amazing creatures are in grave danger. Their populations are dwindling, and some species face extinction due to threats like pollution, hunting, habitat loss, and climate change. That's why we need to take action now to protect sea turtles before it's too late! What makes sea turtles so special? Well, for starters, they've been around for over 100 million years, even surviving the mass extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs. How crazy is that? Sea turtles are like living fossils, carrying on an ancient legacy. They play a vital role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems too. As hatchlings emerge and scramble into the sea, their nutrient-rich eggs provide food for dunes and vegetation. Then the adult turtles help balance marine food webs, promoting growth of seagrass beds by eating sponges and grazing. Pretty incredible, right? There are seven different species of sea turtles, and they all migrate long distances between feeding and nesting grounds in the ocean. The largest is the leatherback, which can weigh over 2,000 pounds! The smallest is the kemp's ridley, a foot-long turtle that is critically endangered. My personal favorite is the hawksbill, known for its beautiful patterned shell. Whetherthey're massive or tiny, all sea turtles are amazing!Unfortunately, these incredible reptiles face lots of dangers that are making their lives really difficult. Plastic pollution is a massive threat, as turtles can mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and eat them, causing blockages. Six-pack rings and abandoned fishing gear can entangle them too. Many turtles are killed after being struck by boats or victims of bycatch, getting scooped up accidentally in fishing nets. On beaches, their fragile eggs are vulnerable to beach pollution, vehicle tracks, and poaching. In some areas, people even hunt adult turtles for their meat, shells, and eggs. With so many human-caused problems, it's no wonder their numbers have plummeted! But the threats don't stop there. Sea turtles' biggest enemy might actually be climate change and rising temperatures. You see, the gender of baby sea turtles is determined by the temperature of the sand their eggs incubate in. Cooler sandsproduce more males, while warmer sands produce more females. As global warming causes beach temperatures to rise, there is a danger of too many female hatchlings being born and not enough males. This could make the entire population crash!Rising sea levels from melting polar ice also erode nesting beaches and drown turtle feeding grounds like seagrass beds and coral reefs. Some scientists predict that as few as 30% of current sea turtle nesting areas may remain by 2100 if we don't reduce greenhouse gas emissions. That's really scary!I think we need to take major action to protect these incredible ocean reptiles before it's too late. We can start by reducing plastic waste and beach litter to prevent turtles from getting hurt or tangled. We should have laws to punish poachers and regulate fishing to minimize bycatch. I also think we need to fight climate change by lowering our carbon footprints and promoting sustainable energy to preserve nesting habitats for the future. Every little bit helps! On an individual level, if you ever see a hurt, entangled, or trapped sea turtle, you should contact a local wildlife rescue group right away to get it help. We can support organizations that protect turtle nesting sites too. Even little kids like me can get involved by volunteering for beach clean-ups, using paperstraws instead of plastic, and spreading awareness about these amazing but threatened animals.Sea turtles have been around for millions of years, and they are just too incredible to let go extinct on our watch. With their ancestors surviving asteroid strikes and ice ages, ancient sea turtles are true survivors. But the challenges they face today from humans may be their greatest threat yet. As ambassadors of the ocean, their plight is a reminder that we need to take better care of our blue planet and all its inhabitants. So what do you say? Will you join me and take a stand to save these magnificent marine reptiles? Sea turtles don't have a voice to speak up for themselves, but together we can give them a fighting chance at survival. Let's make sure these gentle giants keep swimming our seas for millions of years to come!。

英语续写拯救海龟的作文Title: The Journey to Save the Sea Turtles. As the sun slowly descended, painting the horizon witha spectrum of orange and purple, our team of marine biologists and volunteers gathered around the makeshift campfire on the beach. The soft glow illuminated our faces, highlighting the determination etched on each one of us. We had come here, to this remote island, with a single purpose: to save the sea turtles. The problem was dire. Years of pollution and human intervention had decimated the turtle populations. Nests were being destroyed, eggs poached, and the turtles themselves were often found entangled in fishing nets or injured by boat propellers. We had to act fast, and ourplan was ambitious yet crucial. The first step was to establish a safe nesting area. We cleared away debris, built protective fences, and set up around-the-clock surveillance system to monitor the nests. But we knew that protection alone was not enough. We had to restore the balance of the marine ecosystem. We began a campaign to raise awareness among the local community, educating them about the importance of sea turtles and their role in maintaining the health of the ocean. We organized workshops, distributed educational brochures, and even involved.。

海龟被人类威胁到了英语作文
海龟被人类威胁到了英语作文Title: The Plight of the Sea Turtles: Threatened by Human Activities.Sea turtles, ancient mariners of the ocean, have existed for over 100 million years, surviving through various geological and climatic changes. However, today, these majestic creatures face a new and potentially fatal threat: human activities. From poaching and habitat loss to climate change and pollution, the future of sea turtles hangs precariously in the balance.Poaching remains a significant threat to sea turtle populations. The demand for turtle products, particularly their eggs and shells, is high in some cultures, leading to illegal harvesting and trafficking. Despite international laws and regulations aimed at curbing this trade, poachers continue to operate with impunity, often using sophisticated methods to evade detection.Habitat loss is another major concern. Coastal development, including the construction of resorts, hotels, and marinas, has destroyed critical nesting beaches and feeding grounds. These developments often lead to increased light pollution, which disrupts turtle nesting behavior. Artificial lighting can confuse female turtles, causing them to nest in unsafe areas or preventing them from nesting at all.Climate change is another looming crisis for sea turtles. Rising sea levels, caused by melting ice caps and thermal expansion of the ocean, are inundating nesting beaches, washing away eggs and newly hatched turtles. Extreme weather events, such as hurricanes and storms, can also destroy nesting sites and disrupt turtle migrations.Pollution, particularly from plastic waste, poses a direct threat to sea turtles. Turtles often mistake plastic bags and other debris for their preferred food items, such as jellyfish. This ingestion of plastic can lead to blockages, starvation, and even death. Marine debris can also entanglement turtles, restricting their movement andcausing physical injury. To address these threats, a multipronged approach is necessary. First, it is crucial to enforce existing laws and regulations against poaching and illegal trafficking. International cooperation is essential in this effort, as turtle products often cross borders.Second, we must prioritize the protection and restoration of turtle habitats. This includes limiting coastal development in critical nesting areas and establishing protected zones where turtle nesting and feeding can occur safely. Light pollution reduction measures, such as using shielded lighting or turning off unnecessary lights, can also help support turtle nesting.Third, addressing climate change is imperative. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy use are key steps in mitigating the impact of climate change on sea turtles. Additionally, turtle nesting beaches and habitats should be monitored and prepared for extreme weather events to minimize their impact on turtlepopulations.Lastly, reducing plastic pollution is crucial. Individuals can play a role by reducing their use ofsingle-use plastics and participating in beach cleanups. Governments and businesses should also invest in developing and implementing sustainable alternatives to plastic products and improve waste management systems to prevent plastic waste from entering the ocean. In conclusion, the future of sea turtles isinextricably linked to our actions. By working together to address the threats they face, we can ensure that these ancient mariners of the ocean continue to swim and thrivein our shared world. It is a challenge that requires urgency and dedication, but it is one that is worthfighting for. After all, sea turtles are not just animals; they are a part of our history, our heritage, and our future.。

KEY: quote the problem of turtlesThe sea turtles, especially the leatherbacks, are undoubtedly one of nature‟s most amazing creatures. They roam the warm seas of the world throughout their life and come ashore only to lay eggs. Malaysia with its long sandy shorelines has been destined as one of their breeding grounds. Unfortunately, the number of leatherback turtles landing on the beaches has been declining over the years. According to the WWF estimates, about 2000 leatherbacks arrived on Malaysian beaches in 1970. In 1989, only between 30 and 60 leatherbacks were found. The drastic drop within such a short span is certainly a great cause for concern. Where have they gone to? Are they avoiding the beaches of Malaysia ? Whatever it is, the message is disturbingly clear -- they may become an extinct species soon, that is, if no concerted effort is taken to check the decline now.KEY: one of reason of declining of turtlesThe belief that the declining landings of turtles in Malaysia is the result of increasing landings in others parts of the world is a fallacy. This is because the scenario is the same in other countries known to have been visited by the turtles. What has caused the species to dwindle at such a rapid rate ? There are many reasons but an obvious one is none other than man‟s greed. As we know, turtles are killed for their meat. In the days before refrigeration, turtles had been a source of fresh food for the sailing ships. Today, turtle soup is a favorite dish among the Asians. Their shells have become coveted items for decorations and jewelry. Their eggs which are meant to be hatched into young turtles, are instead harvested and eaten. When deep sea fishing nets inadvertently trap the turtles, fisherman often kill the turtles instead of cutting their nets to release them. Pollution of the sea has also reduced the number of turtles. Many are choked to death by the plastic bags that they mistake for jelly fish. Itappears that the turtles are no longer safe in the sea where they spend most of their lives.KEY:other reason of the declining of turtle Neither are they safe when the females come ashore to lay eggs. In fact this is the time when they are particularly vulnerable as their movements are slow on land. The nesting places for these turtles have also been greatly reduced, As more and more beaches are taken over for tourism with the construction of hotels, chalets and condominiums, the breeding grounds are reduced in the process. The intrusion of tourists into these places make it difficult for the turtles to lay their eggs. They have to look elsewhere to places that are still quiet and undisturbed to lay their eggs. Unfortunately these ideal places are few to come by now. Too much development has taken place even along the coastline in most countries.KEY: method to protect turtle.Perhaps all is not lost yet. Sincere efforts are being taken to check the decline. In Malaysia, it is heartening to note that concrete steps have been taken to protect the turtles that come ashore to lay eggs. The indiscriminate collection of turtles eggs on the beaches is no more allowed. Turtle sanctuaries have been set up in Rantau Abang in Terengganu. The eggs collected by designated officials are sent to hatcheries in the sanctuaries. In this way, the loss of eggs and the rate of mortality among the baby turtles are reduced. In other words, more baby turtles are now able to return to sea and grow into adulthood. In an effort to discourage the public from eating turtle eggs a Turtle Enactment Act has been introduced to prohibit the sale of leatherback eggs. The WWF has also launched the …Save the Turtle Campaign‟ to create an awareness amongthe public to help save the endangered species. In this way, the consumption of turtle eggs and perhaps turtle meat will be discouraged, thus putting a stop to the illegal sale of eggs and trapping of turtles. Let us hope that it is not too late to save these fascinating creatures from becoming extinct.Based on the passage given, write a summary in which you describe:1.how and why the number of leatherback turtles has declined2.what steps have been taken toprevent the declineCredit will be given for use of own words but care must be taken not tochange the original meaning. Yoursummary must be in continuous form andnot longer than 130 words, including the10 words given below.Begin your summary as follows :“The declining landings of turtles in Malaysia are due to ...”SummaryThe declining landings of turtles in Malaysia are due to uncontrolled catching for their meat, shells and eggs. many are inadvertently caught in deep sea fishing nets. Pollution of the sea has also reduced the number of turtles. Many die of suffocation by discarded plastic bags. Besides, turtles are most vulnerable when they come ashore to lay eggs. Their nesting places have also been reduced due to development for tourism along the coasts. Nevertheless, concrete steps have been taken to arrest the decline. Indiscriminate collection and sale of turtle eggs are banned. Turtle sanctuaries have been set up, thereby reducing the rate of mortality among the baby turtles. Lastly,an awareness campaign has been launched by WWF to discourage the public from eating turtle eggs. ( 125 words )。
