One who has integrity is bound by and follows moral and ethical standards even whenmaking life's hard choices, choices which may be clouded by stress, pressure to succeed, or temptation. What happens if we lie, cheat, steal, or violate other ethical standards? We feel disappointed in ourselves and ashamed. But a lapse of integrity also affects our relationships with others. Trust is essential in any important relationship, whether personal or professional. Who can trust someone who is dishonest or unfair? Thus, integrity must be one of our most important goals.Risky BusinessWe are each responsible for our own decisions, even if the decision-making process has been undermined by stress or peer pressure. The real test of character is whether we can learn from our mistake, by understanding why we acted as we did, and then exploring ways to avoid similar problems in the future.Making ethical decisions is a critical part of avoiding future problems. We must learn to recognize risks, because if we can't see the risks we're taking, we can't make responsible choices. To identify risks, we need to know the rules and be aware of the facts. For example, one who doesn't know the rules about plagiarism may accidentally use words or ideas without giving proper credit, or one who fails to keep careful research notes may unintentionally fail to quote and cite sources as required. But the fact that such a violation is "unintentional" does not excuse the misconduct. Ignorance is not a defense."But Everybody Does It"Most people who get in trouble do know the rules and facts, but manage to fool themselves about the risks they're taking by using excuses: "Everyone else does it," "I'm not hurting anyone," or "I really need this grade." Excuses can get very elaborate: "I know I'm looking at another's exam, even though I'm supposed to keep my eyes on my own paper, but that's not cheating because I'm just checking my answers, not copying." We must be honest about our actions, and avoid excuses. If we fool ourselves into believing we're not doing anything wrong, we can't see the real choice we're making--and that leads to bad decisions. To avoid fooling yourself, watch out for excuses and try this test: Ask how you would feel if your actions were public, and anyone could be watching over your shoulder. Would you feel proud or ashamed of your actions? If you'd rather hide your actions, that's a good indication that you're taking a risk and rationalizing it to yourself.Evaluating RisksTo decide whether a risk is worth taking, you must examine the consequences, in the future as well as right now, negative as well as positive, and to others as well as to yourself. Those who take risks they later regret usually focus on immediate benefits ("what's in it for me"), and simply haven't considered what might go wrong. The consequences of getting caught are serious, and may include a "0" on a test or assignment; an "F" in the class; suspension or dismissal from school; transcript notation; and a tarnished reputation. In fact, when you break a rule or law, you lose control over your life, and give others the power to impose punishment:you have no control over what that punishment might be. This is an extremely precarious and vulnerable position. There may be some matters of life and death, or highest principle, which might justify such a risk, but there aren't many things that fall in this category.Getting Away With It--Or NotThose who don't get caught pay an even higher price. A cheater doesn't learn from the test, depriving him/herself of an education. Cheating undermines confidence and independence: the cheater is a fraud, and knows that without dishonesty, he/she would have failed. Cheating destroys self-esteem and integrity, leaving the cheater ashamed, guilty, and afraid of getting caught. Worst of all, a cheater who doesn't get caught the first time usually cheats again, not only because he/she is farther behind, but also because it seems "easier." This slippery slope of eroding ethics and bigger risks leads only to disaster. Eventually, the cheater gets caught, and the later he/she gets caught, the worse the consequences. Students have been dismissed from school because they didn't get this simple message: Honesty is the ONLY policy that works. Cheating Hurts Others, TooCheaters often feel invisible, as if their actions "don't count" and don't really hurt anyone. But individual choices have a profound cumulative effect. Cheating can spread like a disease, and a cheater can encourage others just by being seen from across the room. Recent statistics suggest 30% or more of college students cheat. If a class is graded on a curve, cheating hurts others' grades. Even if there is no curve, cheating "poisons" the classroom, and others may feel pressured to join in. ("If I don't cheat, I can't compete with those who do.") Cheating also has a destructive impact on teachers. The real reward of good teaching is seeing students learn, but __38__.a cheater says, "I'm not interested in what you're trying to teach; all I care about is stealing a grade, regardless of the effect on others." The end result is a blatant and destructive attack on the quality of your education. Finally, cheating can hurt the reputation of the University, and harm those who worked hard for their degree. Why Integrity MattersIf cheating becomes the norm, then we are in big trouble. __39__.We must rely on the honesty and good faith of others every day. If not, we couldn't put money in the bank, buy food, clothing, or medicine from others, drive across a bridge, get on a plane, go to the dentist--the list is endless. There are many examples of the vast harm that is caused when individuals forget or ignore the effect their dishonesty can have. The savings and loan scandal, the stock market and junk bond swindles, and, of course, __40__.Watergate, have undermined the faith of many Americans in the integrity of political and economic leaders and society as a whole. Such incidents take a tremendous toll on our nation's economy and our individual well-being. For example, but for the savings and loan debacle, there might be funds available to reduce the national debt and pay for education. In sum, we all have a common stake in our school, our community, and our society. Our actions do matter. It is essential that we act with integrity in order to build the kind of world in which we want to live.31. A person of integrity not only sets high moral and ethical standards but also _______。

Today, I want to tell you all about my wonderful class. In my class, there are 30 students, including boys and girls. We have a fantastic teacher named Miss Johnson, who is very kind and helpful. She always encourages us to do our best and makes learning fun. I really admire her.My classmates are amazing! We come from different backgrounds and have different interests, but we all get along well. We are like a big family. We help each other, share our snacks during recess, and play games together. It's so much fun!Every morning, we start our day with the flag-raising ceremony. We proudly sing the national anthem and pledge our allegiance to our country. It's a great way to begin the day and show our respect. Our classroom is colorful and inviting. We have a bulletin board where we display our artwork and projects. We also have a reading corner with a cozy beanbag chair and shelves filled with books. I love spending time there, reading my favorite stories.During break time, we have a lot of activities to choose from. Some of us like to play basketball, while others enjoy skipping rope or playing tag. I usually join my friends in a game ofhide-and-seek. It's always exciting trying to find the best hiding spot! One thing I really enjoy about my class is our field trips. We go on exciting adventures to different places. Last month, we visited the local zoo. It was amazing to see all the animals up close. We learned so much about their habitats and how to protect them.In addition to regular subjects like math and science, we also have art and music classes. I love art class because I get to express my creativity through painting and drawing. In music class, we learn to play different instruments and sing songs together. It's so much fun making music as a class!Sometimes, we have special events and celebrations. Last week, we had a talent show where we showcased our skills. Somestudents sang, danced, or even did magic tricks. It was incredible to see the talents of my classmates. One of my favorite moments in my class is when we work on group projects. We get to collaborate with our friends, share ideas, and create something amazing together. It's a great way to learn and bond with each other.I feel so lucky to be a part of such an incredible class. My classmates and my teacher make every day special. We laugh, learn, and grow together. My name is Alex, and I'm a student in 5th grade at Ming Ying Elementary School. I'm super excited to tell you all about my class because we have the most amazing group of kids and the coolest teacher ever!First things first, let me introduce you to our teacher, Ms. Wang. She's the kindest and most patient person I know. Whenever someone in our class needs extra help or has a question, she's always there with a warm smile and an explanation that makes everything so much clearer. Ms. Wang has this special way of making even the trickiest math problems or the most complicated grammar rules seem like a breeze! But what really makes Ms. Wang the best is how much she cares about each and every one of us. She takes the time to get to know our strengths, our weaknesses, and our interests outside of school. That way, she can help us learn in the way that works best for each of us. Plus, she's always encouraging us to explore new things and never be afraid to try something new, even if it seems hard at first. Now, let me tell you about my awesome classmates. We've got a total of 25 students in our class, and we're like one big, happy family. There's my best friend, Emily, who's the funniest person I know. She's always cracking jokes and making us all laugh, even when we're working on something really tough. And then there's David, who's an absolute whiz at math. Whenever I get stuck on a tricky equation, he's the first person I go to for help. We've also got Sarah, who's an incredible artist. She can draw the most amazing pictures, and she's even taught some of us how to sketch during our free time. And let's not forget about Jack, the class bookworm. He's read more books than anyone I know, and he's always eager to share his favorite stories with us.But what I love most about my classmates is how supportive and encouraging we all are of each other. Whenever someone gets a good grade on a test or aces a presentation, we're always there to cheer them on and celebrate their success. And if someone's having a tough day or feeling down, we're quick to offer a kind word or a comforting hug. That's not to say we don't have our fair share of disagreements or squabbles from time to time. After all, we're a bunch of kids with different personalities and interests. But whenever there's a conflict or misunderstanding, Ms. Wang is always there to help us work it out and remind us that we're all friends and classmates, no matter what. One of my favorite things about our class is how much we love to learn and explore new things together. Whether it's a fascinating science experiment, a thrilling adventure story, or a tricky math puzzle, we're always eager to dive in and discover something new. And whenever someone struggles with aconcept or falls behind, we're always there to lend a helping hand and make sure no one gets left behind.I'll never forget the time we did a class project on different countries and cultures around the world. We split up into groups and each group had to research a different country, learn about its history, traditions, and customs, and then present what we learned to the rest of the class. It was so much fun learning about all the different cultures and seeing how diverse and fascinating our world is.But what really stuck with me was how supportive and encouraging we all were of each other during the project. Whenever someone's group was presenting, the rest of us listened intently and asked thoughtful questions. And whenever someone struggled with their part of the presentation, their groupmates were there to help them out and make sure they felt confident and prepared. That's just the kind of class we are – a tight-knit group of friends who love to learn, explore, and support each other every step of the way.One of my favorite memories from this year was our class field trip to the science museum. Not only did we get to see all sorts of amazing exhibits and learn about everything fromdinosaurs to outer space, but we also had a blast exploring the museum together and sharing in each other's excitement and wonder.I'll never forget the looks of pure joy and amazement on my classmates' faces as we watched a planetarium show and felt like we were soaring through the cosmos. Or the way we all huddled around the dinosaur exhibit, trying to outdo each other with our best roars and impressions of these ancient creatures. But what really made the trip special was how much closer we all became as a class. We bonded over our shared love of learning and exploring, and we created memories that we'll cherish forever. As I look back on this school year, I can't help but feel incredibly grateful and lucky to be part of such an amazing class. We've laughed together, learned together, and grown together in ways I never could have imagined. And no matter where life takes us after this year, I know that the friendships and memories we've made will stay with us forever. So, if you ever get the chance to visit Ming Ying Elementary School and meet my class, don't hesitate! You'll be greeted by a group of smiling faces, eager minds, and the warmest, most welcoming community you could ever imagine.Because that's what my class is all about – learning, growing, and supporting each other every step of the way.篇3My ClassHi there! My name is Emma and I'm a student in the 5th grade at Bright English Elementary School. Our class is really fun and I want to tell you all about it.First of all, our classroom itself is really cool. It's a big bright room with lots of windows that let in natural light. The walls are painted a pretty sky blue color which I think helps create a calm learning environment. We have colourful posters and students' artworks hung up everywhere which makes it feel cheery and inviting. At the front of the classroom, we have a huge whiteboard that takes up almost the entire front wall. Our teacher, Mrs. Davis, uses the whiteboard to write instructions, examples, and more. We also have a big screen that she can connect her computer to in order to show us presentations, videos, and other multimedia lessons. I find the visuals really help me understand and remember what we're learning. Our desks are arranged in groups of four or five which allows us to easily work together on group projects and activities. The desks can also be separated into rows when we have tests or independent work. I really like the flexibility of being able to work collaboratively or individually depending on what we're doing. In one corner, we have a big curved sofa with some cozy pillows and beanbags. This is our class reading nook! We each have a period every day for independent reading and we can grab a book and curl up in the reading nook. Sometimes Mrs. Davis will also gather us there to read us a story out loud. It's such a relaxing little area.On the opposite side, we have an awesome science station set up. It has a big counter with sinks, a cabinet full of supplies like magnets, batteries, and microscopes, and even a 3D printer! We use the science station for all our hands-on experiments and STEM projects. It's one of my favourite parts of our classroom. Now let me tell you about the people that make up our amazing class! We have 24 students total - 12 boys and 12 girls. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and cultures which I think makes our class environment really interesting and unique. We're all friends and get along really well. Some of my closest friends are Jayden, Sophia, and Michael. Jayden is hilarious and always finds a way to make us laugh. Sophia is super smart and helpful if anyone is struggling with understanding a concept. And Michael is really athletic and does lots of sports clubs after school. Our class also has some characters that keep things entertaining! There's Lucas who is pretty shy but once you get to know him, he's really funny and creative. Hannah loves to read and will get so absorbed in her books that she tunes everything else out. And Josh is known as the class clown - he's always trying to pull harmless pranks and make jokes.Despite our differences, we all share a love of learning which I think brings us together as a class. We have a lot of hands-on activities and group projects which allow us to collaborate and bond while working towards academic goals. We even have a classroom mascot - Sparkles the bearded dragon! Taking care of Sparkles and learning about reptiles has been a really cool experience.Mrs. Davis also stresses the importance of being good global citizens. We have classroom jobs and responsibilities that rotate each month to teach us skills like leadership, teamwork, and accountability. We also spend time discussing current events andsocial issues in an age-appropriate way. I really appreciate how Mrs. Davis helps us develop into well-rounded individuals beyond just academics. My favourite times in our class are when we get to go on field trips! So far this year, we've visited a science museum, an art gallery, and even a farm. Field trips allow us to see real-world applications of what we're learning in the classroom. Plus, they're always super fun and a nice break from our normal routines.I've learned so much already this year, but I know there's still so much more to learn and experience before 5th grade is over. From becoming a published author by writing and illustrating our own books to programming robots to compete in a robotics competition, the second half of the year is shaping up to be just as thrilling as the first. Our class has definitely become like a second family to me. We learn together, grow together, and most importantly, we always look out for one another. We celebrate each other's successes and encourage those who are struggling. I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing, supportive group.Well, that's my class in a nutshell! Of course, there's no way I could fit in everything that makes it so special. Just know that Bright English Elementary's 5th grade class is filled with endlesslaughter, creativity, and enthusiastic learners. I look forward to heading to school every day to see what new adventures and discoveries await alongside my favourite teacher and classmates. This year has been unforgettable so far and I can't wait to see what else is in store!篇4My ClassHi there! My name is Emma, and I'm a fifth-grader at Bright English Elementary School. I absolutely love my class, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!First of all, let me introduce our amazing teacher, Ms. Johnson. She's the coolest teacher ever! She always has a big smile on her face, and she makes learning so much fun. Ms. Johnson comes up with the most exciting activities and games to help us understand new concepts. Just last week, we played a game called "Verb Charades" to practice action words. It was hilarious watching my friends act out words like "jump," "dance," and "laugh."But Ms. Johnson isn't just fun; she's also incredibly patient and kind. Whenever someone struggles with a lesson, she takes the time to explain it in different ways until we understand. Shenever gets frustrated or makes us feel bad for not getting it right away. Ms. Johnson always says, "There's no such thing as a silly question!" and encourages us to keep asking until we're confident. Now, let me tell you about my amazing classmates! We're a diverse bunch, with kids from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. It's so cool to learn about different traditions and celebrations from my friends. During our "International Week" last month, we got to try delicious foods from around the world and learn a few words in different languages. One of my best friends in class is Liam. He's super smart and always raises his hand to answer questions. But he's also really humble and doesn't brag about how much he knows. Liam is the kind of friend who will patiently explain a math problem to you until you get it, and he never makes you feel dumb for not understanding. Then there's Sophia, the class artist. She's incredibly creative and talented. Sophia's drawings and paintings are so beautiful and detailed, it's hard to believe they're made by a fifth-grader! Whenever we have an art project, everyone gathers around Sophia to see her masterpiece and ask for tips.Don't let his quiet nature fool you – Jack is one of the funniest kids in our class! He always has a witty comment or joke to share, and he can make even the most boring lesson entertaining. Jack is also an amazing storyteller. During our creative writing sessions, we all look forward to hearing his wild and imaginative tales. And how could I forget about Ava, the class athlete? She's a star on the soccer field, the basketball court, and pretty much every other sport you can think of. Ava is incredibly competitive, but she's also a great team player and always encourages her classmates to do their best. She's taught us all the importance of good sportsmanship and perseverance.篇5My Class: A Wonderful Learning JourneyWe are the amazing 5th graders of Bright English Primary School! Our class is a vibrant and exciting place where we learn, play, and grow together. Let me tell you all about the fantastic adventures we have every day.First, let's talk about our incredible teacher, Ms. Johnson. She's like a real-life superhero with her cape made of kindness and her superpower of making even the toughest subjects easyto understand. Ms. Johnson always greets us with a warm smile and a contagious enthusiasm that instantly brightens our day.In our classroom, the walls are covered with colorful posters, charts, and our own artwork. It's like stepping into a magical world where learning comes alive! We have cozy reading corners filled with books that transport us to different lands and exciting stories. There's even a science station where we conduct cool experiments and learn about the wonders of the natural world. But the best part of our class is my amazing classmates. We come from all different backgrounds, but we're like one big family. There's Sarah, the math whiz who can solve equations faster than a calculator. Then there's Alex, the artist extraordinaire, whose drawings could easily hang in a museum. And let's not forget about Jack, the class clown, who always has a joke or funny story to share and keeps us laughing.Together, we tackle every subject with determination and a spirit of curiosity. In English class, we dive into fascinating novels and learn to express ourselves through creative writing. During math lessons, we conquer fractions, decimals, and word problems like brave adventurers conquering a challenging quest. Science is an absolute blast, as we explore the natural world through hands-on experiments and projects. But it's not just about academics in our class. We also have loads of fun during our breaks and special events. Who could forget the time we had a reading marathon and dressed up as our favorite book characters? Or when we held a talent show and discovered the hidden artists, singers, and dancers among us?As the school year progresses, we can feel ourselves growing not just in knowledge but also in character. We're becoming more confident, resilient, and responsible young learners. Every day, we're one step closer to achieving our dreams and making a positive impact on the world. My class is a true treasure, filled with amazing friends, incredible learning opportunities, and unforgettable memories. We're not just classmates; we're a family united by our love for learning and our determination to succeed. This year has been an incredible journey, and I can't wait to see what adventures await us in the future!篇6My ClassMy name is Li Ming and I'm a student in Class 5B at Ming Ying Middle School. Our class has 32 students - 16 boys and 16 girls. We're all around 10 or 11 years old. I really like being in 5Bbecause we have a great teacher, Mrs. Wang, and lots of fun classmates.Mrs. Wang has been teaching for over 15 years but she's still really energetic and makes learning fun. She always has a big smile on her face and encourages us to do our best. If we don't understand something, she explains it in a different way until we get it. Whenever I'm feeling frustrated, Mrs. Wang is patient and helps me work through the problem step-by-step. She never gets annoyed or raises her voice at us. We can tell she really cares about each student. My best friend Zhang Wei sits next to me in class. We've known each other since we were little kids playing in the neighborhood park. Zhang Wei is really good at math and always gets the highest scores on tests. He helps me understand the hard concepts when I get stuck. I'm better at Chinese literature so I help him with analyzing poetry and writing essays. We make a great study team!Sitting in front of me is Lin Na, one of the funniest girls in our class. She's always cracking jokes and making silly faces when the teacher isn't looking. She has a mischievous smile that makes you want to laugh with her. Once she even made a paper airplane and threw it across the room when Mrs. Wang had herback turned writing on the chalkboard! We all had to stifle our giggles as the airplane soared through the air before crashing into a bookshelf. Lin Na got a warning that time but she just grinned cheekily. She definitely keeps things entertaining! In the back row, there's Wang Chun who is the tallest boy in our class. He towers over everyone else and has to duck when he walks through doorways! Despite his big size, Wang Chun is actually one of the nicest and most gentle guys around. He's a bit shy but always friendly and smiling. I remember once when a younger kid dropped all his books in the hallway, Wang Chun swooped in to pick everything up and carried the stack for him to the classroom. What a thoughtful guy!Xiao Li is our resident artist and sits diagonally across from me. She's incredibly talented at drawing and painting. Sometimes Mrs. Wang lets her decorate the classroom for different holidays or special events. Xiao Li makes these amazing murals and pictures on the blackboard with colorful chalk. Her art makes our plain classroom look so vibrant and cheerful! At the last student exhibition, her painting of a beautiful forest scene won first prize. She's applying to attend the art academy for middle school next year. Our class has a pretty decent sports team for the annual athletics meet between grades. Li Bing and Wu Qi are both super fast runners in the sprint races. Zhu Mei is the star of the girls' basketball team with her tall height and ability to makethree-point shots. We usually place in the top 3 for most of the track and field events. Of course, you can't be good at every single thing so our class struggles a bit in gymnastics and swimming compared to others. But we always have a lot of fun cheering each other on no matter what! After school, some classmates take extra enrichment classes but most of us just hang around and play in the neighborhood. There are pickup games of basketball, badminton, or soccer happening in the courts by the apartment complexes pretty much every day. The daring kids like Liang Hao will climb up the tall banyantrees while the rest of us watch nervously from below. Sometimes we have epic battles playing Chinese chess or cards on the sidewalks until our parents call us home for dinner. Those after-school hours are some of my happiest childhood memories.Every few months, our class goes on a field trip to some educational place like a museum, gallery, or historic site. My favorite was when we went to the science museum and got to dofun experiments and learn about electricity and Newton's laws of motion. Last month, we visited an archaeology exhibit at the provincial museum about ancient pottery and jade artifacts from thousands of years ago. Getting out of the classroom and seeing new things in-person always feels so exciting! In 5th grade, we also get to go on a multi-day trip to somewhere out of town. We're all really looking forward to that at the end of the school year! I heard some older students saying we might get to visit waterfalls out in the countryside or stay at a camp by the beach. That sounds like it would be an incredible experience to try so many new activities and environments with my classmates. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!Overall, I feel really lucky to be part of Class 5B at Ming Ying Middle School. We may just be a regular group of 5th graders but we have great classmates, a wonderful teacher, and lots of fun memories together. This class feels like a second family to me. I'll always cherish the times we've had and hopefully we'll keep these close bonds in the years ahead as we progress through school. What a joy it is to be a student in 5B!。
