Wuyi of Fujian, on the north by Mt. Huang of Anhui, to the west by Nanchang over the Poyang Lake, in the center of the border regions of Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui provinces, Shangrao has been reputed as richly endowed land communicating those four provinces through all ages. This prefecture-level city covers an area of 22800 square kilometers, accounting for 13.7% of Jiangxi province, and has a population of 7.4million, making up 12.1% of the population of all Jiangxi province, which is the second largest city and provincial Party committee, and was determined as one of the four important cities for regional development.Shangrao enjoys a superior location and convenient and fast traffic. It is the “East Gate” of Jiangxi Province , the closed prefecture-level city to marine outfall, the city where the Yangtze River Delta, West Sea and Poyang Lake joint, and the common back-land of the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and some coastal developed areas in the southeast of Fujian Province. Zhejiang-Ganzhou railway has opened motor train unit so that it just takes more than three hours from Shangrao to Shanghai, more than two hours to Hangzhou.
