damage: 指价值,用途降低,不一定全部破坏,损坏了还可以修复

The heavy rain damaged many houses.

destroy: 彻底毁坏以致于不能或很难修复,既可以指尸体的毁坏,也可以用于抽象的东西,比如名誉,努力等。

That town was destroyed in a big fire.

ruin: 泛指一般的弄坏了。

He knocked over a bottle of ink and ruined the table cloth.

ut how could the survivors believe it was natural? Everywhere they looked nearly everything was destroyed. All of the city’s hospitals, 75 percent of its factories and buildings and 90 percent of its homes were gone(go). Bricks covered the ground like red autumn leaves.
