Ⅰ. Target language
1. Words and phrases:
proud, wide, report, trade, giant, feel proud, make a report…
2. Key sentences:
Thank you very much for your letter.

Ⅱ. Ability goals
Enable students to talk about others’ hobbies.

Help students learn to interview and write a report about others’ hobbies.

Get the students how to interview others about their hobbies.

A tape-recorder, slide, a multiple-media computer and a projector.
Ⅵ. Teaching procedures & ways
Step I Lead in
First review what they have learnt in Lesson 49, and then ask the student to show his model car to the whole class.
Step II Discussing
Get students to talk about questions in THINK ABOUT IT. Help them get familiar with
talking about others’ hobbies.
Step IV Reading
Ask the student to read the letter and explain the language points to help them to better understand the letter.
Language points:
1. thank sb. for sth. 因某事感谢某人。
I thank you for your help.
thank sb. for doing sth. 因为某人做了某事而感谢某人。
I thank you for helping me a lot.
2. like doing sth. 喜欢做某事（经常行为）。
I like swimming.
like to do sth. 喜欢做某事（具体行为）。
It’s a fine day and I like to swim this afternoon.
like doing sth.和like to do sth.一般情况下可以互换。
3. feel 是系动词，后面跟形容词。
I feel happy，but you feel sad.
4. need to do sth.
You need to do it again.
5. trade = change
I trade my knife for you pen.
Step V Writing (Let’s Do It)
Get the student to complete LET’S DO IT.
T: Now let’s inte rview your partner about his or her family members. Ask about their lives, jobs, hobbies or anything else you want to know. Then write a report and present it to the class. You are given 10 minutes to prepare for it.

2. Surf the Internet to look for some information about the Canadian’s hobbies.。
