The summary of the nature of genius
In this essay, the author thinks that gifted children or geniuses are not different from the rest of humanity. Their success attribute to hard work. They are normal persons.
Many people hold that if people are talented in one area, they must be defective in another, for example, someone good at science may be quite weak in music. However, it’s quite wrong to think so. As Dr. Samuel Johnson say, “The true genius is a mind of large general powers, accidentally determined to some particular direction”. We all see the shining point of genius, ignoring the great efforts they make when we are enjoying ourselves. The geniuses’ brains are not different from us, and what they are different from us is the determination toward the top of our work. Everyone’s mind is quite unique, which means if we can contribute ourselves to a part of powers, we have the chance to be a genius as well. In the process of being educated we can learn from the achievements of those more gifted than ourselves. But firstly we should learn the price they may have paid in terms of perseverance, single-mindedness, dedication, restrictions on their personal lives, the demands upon their energies and time, and how
often they had to display great courage to preserve their integrity or to gain their achievement and frame.
All in all, geniuses are normal persons who may not save in certain parts as we think, and we must believe their honorable success is attached to their devotion to their work.。
