Some years ago, on a hot summer day, a little boy decided to go swimming in the

One afternoon many years ago, I sat down on a bench in a park and watched a little boy, around 2 years old, running freely on the grass as his mother watched from a
short distance. The boy would fall to the grass, get up, and without looking back
at his mother, ran as fast as he could as if nothing had happened.
When kids fall down, they don't think of the fall as a failure. Instead, they
consider it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed.
While I was touched by the boy's strong mind, I was also touched by the
way he ran. With each attempt, he looked so confident and natural. He only
wanted to run freely and to do it as well as he could. He was just being a
child-just being himself-being completely in the moment. He never gave up.
Each time he fell, he got himself back up again, as if he knew that falling down
was simply a part of life.
He was not looking for others' smiles, or worrying about whether someone was
watching or not. He only wanted to run and to feel the experience of running fully
and freely.I learned a lot from that experience, and have successfully brought that lesson with me in many parts in my life.
1.From Paragraph l, we know that the boy's mother_______.

A.might stop running when he fell down
B.never fell down if he made up his mind to run

One of my best childhood memories is going to the river and sitting quietly on
the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watching the bamboo trees bend
in the wind and then return to their original positions after the wind had died down.
When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to come back to its
original position, the word "resilience" comes to my mind. When we
use the word to talk about a person, it means the ability to easily
recover from shock, sadness or any other bad situation.
Have you ever felt like you are about to snap(垮掉)? Have
you ever felt like you are at your breaking point? Thankfully, you
have survived the experience to live to talk about it.
Life is a mixture of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. The next time you are experiencing one of those unhappy moments that take you close to your breaking point, bend but don't break. Try your best not to let the situation
get the best of you. Your hope will take you through the unpleasant ordeal (摧残). With hope for a better tomorrow or a better situation things may not be as bad as
they seem to be. The unpleasant ordeal may be easier to deal with if the end result is worth having.
If things get tough and you are at your breaking point, show resilience,
like the bamboo tree.
Bend, but don't break!
1.What happened to the bamboo trees after the wind?
A. They were broken in half.
B. They disappeared along with the wind.

A. recover from a bad situation
B. follow what others say

3.According to the writer, what should we do when we are in a bad situation?
A.Let everything get to us.
B.Be hopeful for a better tomorrow.
C.Do nothing but enjoy the ordeal.
D.Get as close as we can to our breaking point.
4.We may bend in the following situations EXCEPT when _______.
A.we don't do well in our studies
B.we meet with some difficulties
C.we get on well with our study or work
D.we have something difficult to deal with

I had been sitting, lost in my thoughts. I needed to make a big decision about

If you put a buzzard (秃鹰) in a cage without a roof (顶棚), the bird will be a
