A
Packaging is an important form of advertising.A package can sometimes motivate someone to buy a product. For example, a small child might ask for a breakfast food that comes in a box with a picture of a TV character. The child is more interested in the picture than in breakfast
food.Pictures for children to color or cut out, games printed on a package, or a small gift inside a
box also motivate many children to buy products or to ask their parents to buy for them.
Some packages suggest that a buyer will get something for nothing.Food products sold in
reusable containers are examples of this.Although a similar product in a plain container might
cost less, people often prefer to buy the product in a reusable glass or dish, because they believe
the container is free. However, the cost of the container is added to the cost of the product. The
size of a package also motivates a buyer.Maybe the package had “Economy Size” or “Family
Size” printed on it.This suggests that the larger size has the most product for the least money. But
that is not always true.To find it out, a buyer has to know how the product is sold and the price of
the basic unit.
The information on the package should provide some answers. But the important thing for
any buyer to remember is that a package is often an advertisement. The words and pictures do not
高三英语试卷第3页(共6页)tell the whole story.Only the product inside can do that.
56.From the passage we know the buyer pays more attention to __________.
A.the size of a container
B.a well-designed container
C.a container with attractive picture
D.a plain container with low cost
57.What suggestion does the author give in the passage?
A.It’s not good to buy the product which is sold in a glass or dish.
B.The quality of a container has nothing to do with the quality of the product.
C.The best choice for a buyer is to buy a product in a plain package.
D.A buyer should buy what he needs most rather than a well-designed package.
58.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Sell Product.
B.How to Make an Advertisement.
C.How to Package a Product
D.How to Treat the Package Wisely.

Running like the wind, roaring like thunder, tigers have long been feared and respected as a
king of the animal world. But last week a report said that there are no more than 30 wild tigers left
in South China.
This was the conclusion of a team of scientists from China's State Forestry Administration
and the World Nature Fund.
The South China tiger, also known as the Chinese tiger, is native to southern China. In the
1950's, there were over 4000 tigers found in mountain forests in the country. But due to the
destruction of their natural habitat and uncontrolled hunting, it has been pushed on to the list of
the world's top ten most endangered species.
Sixty-six of the big cats can be found in the cages of a dozen zoos around China. But they are
nothing like their wild cousins. They have lost their natural skills such as hunting and killing. If
they were set free they could not look after themselves.
"Breeding has damaged the quality of the species", said Pei Enle, deputy director of the
Shanghai Zoo.
To reintroduce the species into the wild, the country started a programme to send five to ten
young tigers to South Africa.Four of them have already arrived.Progress has been made as two
elder tigers have recovered some of their instincts and can hunt wild animals by themselves at the
African base.
" South Africans are very experienced in reintroducing big animals to the wild. The country
has very good natural conditions for the tigers to learn in", said Lu Jun, office director of the
National Wildlife Research and Development Center." We tried in Fujian Province, but it was not
successful as there was not a complete eco-chain and there was a lack of space."
The tigers should return to China in 2007 when the reservations in Fujian are ready.
59.What is the main reason for the South China tiger becoming one of the world's top ten most endangered species?
A.Because it has lost its natural instincts.
B.Because there is not a complete eco-chain.
C.Because uncontrolled hunting has destroyed its natural living conditions.
D.Because there is no space for it
60.How is the programme of sending several tigers to South Africa getting on?
A.Two tigers can already compete with their wild cousins.
B.Its effect still remains to be seen.
C.Some of the tigers are already on the road to recovering their natural skills.
D.The tigers should be able to recover their instincts completely by 2007.
61.By saying " but they are nothing like their wild cousins", the writer means that ______.
A.they don't know how to hunt or kill
B.they are no longer feared by other wild animals
C.a complete change has resulted in the species because of breeding
D.to reintroduce them into the wild has become an urgent task
62.What is the purpose of sending young tigers to South Africa?
A.To get the tigers to go on a tour.
B.To provide them with a better environment.
C.To help the tigers recover their ability to live in the wild.
D.To find a complete eco-chain for them.
63.Which one is not the reason for South Africa being chosen as the training place?
A.Because the tigers can hunt wild animals by themselves at the African base.
B.Because South Africans are skilled at dealing with the tigers.
C.Because there is a complete eco-chain and enough space there.
D.Because the country has good natural conditions for the tigers to learn in.

It is a hot summer day,and you feel thirsty.A friend gives you a glass of cold lemondae. How do you feel when you see the glass? Will you describe your feeling as happiness or as pleasure? I believe you will say it is a feeling of pleasure.
There is a connection between these two kinds of feelings, and sometimes one cause the other ,but
they are not the same.Pleasure is more dependent on the five senses while happiness is
independent of them.
When you are happy ,little unpleasant events usually do not disturb you. When you are
unhappy.you feel as if everything is against you.You may compensate for it by eating chocolate
and sweets because this gives you pleasure, yet you stay unhappy.
A person may smoke cigarettes because it gives him pleasure, yet this does not make him
happier, especially if he knows the fact that it is not good for his healthy.
The physical world is always in a changing state. At each moment a new thing is being
Created, changed, transformed and then destroyed. This is the normal state of things
and no one can change it.If we stay still in a certain state,we are sure to experience
unhappiness sooner or later. On the other hand, if we adjust to the environment, nothing can
influence our moods. Then outer events have nothing to do with
our inner joy of mind
The room of the mind is filled with worry or fear.If you are free of thinking
about them, the room has been emptied, and then you will see what is happening and
experience it.When your mind stays quiet, you will see that happiness comes from the inside.
68.What does the underlined phrase “compensate for”in Parag raph 2 most probably mean ?
A.to make a suitable payment for
B.to let you anger for
C.to provide with a balancing effect for
D.to solve the problems for
69.We can learn from the passage________.
A.happiness is more dependent on the five senses
B.pleasure sometimes arouses happiness
C.you feel happy when nothing around you changes in a certain state
D.you feel unhappy because you have to adjust to the environment.
70.Whic can be the best title for the passage?
A.Pleasure Leads to Happiness
B.Happiness Changes Us
C.Happiness Is Within Us
D.Stay a Quiet Mind

For several years,Americans have enjoyed teleshopping—watching TV and buying
things by phone. 71 In a number of European countries, people can turn on their TVs and
shop for clothes, jewelry, food, toys, and many other things.
72 _For example, the biggest Swedish company sells different kinds of things on TV in
15 European countries, and in one year it made $100 million. In France there are two teleshopping
channels, and the French spend about $20 million a year to buy things through those channels.
In Gemany, until last year teleshopping was only possible on one channel for one
hour everyday. Then the government allowed more teleshoppong.Other channels can open for telebusiness, including the largest American teleshopping company and a 24-hour
teleshopping company. 73
Some people like teleshopping because it allows them to do their shopping without leaving
their homes. With all the problems of traffic in the cities, this is an important reason, but at the same
time, other Europeans do not like this new way of shopping. 74 Many Europeans usually
worry about the quality of the things for
sale on TV.Good quality is important to them, and they believe they can not be sure about the quality of the things on TV.
75 They will have to be more careful about the quality of the things they sell. They will also have to work harder to sell things that the buyers can not touch or see in person.
A.Now teleshopping is starting in Europe.
B.They call teleshopping “Junk on the air”.
C.Teleshopping is becoming popular in Sweden.
D.German businesses are hoping this new teleshopping will help them sell more things.
E.The need for high quality means that European teleshopping companies will have to be
different from the American companies.
F.Teleshopping is popular among people.
G.German teleshopping business is controlled by American.

Dear Ram,
Thank you for your concern about the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island.
On hearing the exciting news, I almost jumped with joy. There is no doubt that it will have a great effect on the development of Hainan, especially on Hainan’s tourism. As we all know, Hainan Island is so beautiful that more and more people at home and abroad are attracted to enjoy its wonderful scenery.
What’ more ,more jobs will be offered to local people and they will lead a better life.I think the government will also focus on the construction of transport, making it convenient for people to travel around.Besides, the environmental protection is another concern. Best wishes to you!
