Azara’s owl monkeys move to the rhythm of the moon。
On nights, when a full moon floods the evening sky with light, azara’s owl monkeys cannot sit still. They are so active that by dawn the next morning, they are
worn out。
But when the moonlight fades and the moon disappears,Azara’s owl monkeys grow less active at night。
On mornings after moonless nights, they are more active.
The owl monkey genus(动植物的属)is unique among anthropoids(monkeys and apes similar to humans)because it is the only group whose members are nocturnal. They are not classified as threatened or endangered due to their nocturnal behavior. Among owl monkeys,Azara’s owl monkeys stand out, because although they are active during the night, they also exhibit spikes of activity at dawn and dusk.
A research team led by Eduardo Fernadez-Duque at the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study to find out what was driving the unique activity patterns in Azara’s owl monkeys。
They fitted 10 Azara’s owl monkeys with special collars that recorded the monkeys’ activity at 5—minute intervals for several months。
They later recaptured the monkeys and got back the collars and the data they contained。
They found that in low and high light conditions—on dark moonless nights or in broad daylight for instance—-—Azara’s owl monkeys were inactive。
The monkeys instead favored intermediate light levels such as moonlight nights, and the soft lit hours of dawn and dusk。
During those times the monkeys were more active.
Another trend Eduardo Fernadez—Duque and his team discovered was that temperature played a role in influencing how active the monkeys
were。
During the warm months of September to March monkeys were more active than they were during the cool months of April to August。

A Taiwanese schoolboy,12, fell right into a valuable, centuries—old painting on a visit to a Leonardo da Vinci-themed show in Taipei。
When
he put out his hand to hold himself,he tore a hole “the size of a fist" in a $ 1.5 million artwork, “Flowers”, by 17th-century Italian Baroque artist Paolo Porpora.
“The boy was probably too concentrated on listening to what the guide was saying, and therefore stumbled,” said Sun Chi-hsuan, one of the exhibition's organizers. But Sun said the cost of repairs to the damaged painting would be covered by insurance, meaning the boy and his family won’t be asked to pay up. “I’m actually thinking of asking the boy back to be a volunteer in the exhibition for one day," Sun said, “as a punishment."
The painting is undergoing restoration by experts in Taipei。
“We will begin the restoration work by mending the part that was torn on the back,” said Leo Tsai, a fine art restorer. “We will then turn to restoring the paints on the front side。
”
Curator(馆长)Andrea Rossi was left dumbfounded by news of the accident, according to Sun。
“When I told the curator,he was so shocked that for two to three minutes he couldn’t say a single word,”Sun said。
“But he was actually most worried that the boy and his family would put too much pressure on themselves.”
“This is a one—off accident,” Sun insisted. “I believe if viewers are placed so far away in the distance that the paintings won’t be destroyed if someone stumbles, they won’t be able to appreciate the paintings to the full extent.” Since news of the accident, visitor numbers
at the show have gone up,but the restricted area in front of each painting has been enlarged to prevent further accidents

B. He was surprised at it and became dumb.
C. He could not speak any more because of it。
D。
He showed his concern for the boy and his family.
31。
What was the result of the accident?
A. More people paid a visit to the exhibition。
B。
The boy and his family worked as volunteers.
C。
All viewers are placed so far away from the paintings。
D。
The experts could not fully restore the damaged painting。

In World War II, a plant biologist named Norman Borlaug went south
to Mexico. He arrived there to teach modern farming methods under the direction of the Rockefeller foundation。
But Borlaug, described by most as a highly determined man,did much more than assigned。
He started and led perhaps one of the most profound revolutions the world has known-——the Green Revolution。
It is a catch—all that describes advances in plant breeding, chemical fertilization, pest control, and irrigation, particularly from the late laws to the early 1970s. those innovations-—-—including Borlaug’s contribution of high-yield short—stem wheat———helped grow agricultural productivity more quickly than the global population。
And over a few decades that difference saved perhaps a billion people from starvation and millions of acres of wildland from the plow。
Borlaug won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in 1970. Today the world is in need of another green revolution。
Gains in agricultural productivity have slowed or stopped in many places。
Yet the global population steadily marches upward. According to the World Bank, the planet will need to produce 50 percent more food in 2050 to feed a population of 9 billion. At the same time, climate change could reduce existing crop yields by up to 25 percent. Food, along with water and energy, will be one of the defining issues of our time. Next revolution is already under way. Today farmers are using sensors, drones(无人机),and Genetic engineers are creating and breeding plants more productive than even Borlaug could imagine。
Seafood farms are developing in large numbers in Indiana, and even meat is being rethought。
32。
What did the Rockefeller Foundation direct Norman Borlaug to do in Mexico?
A. To teach modern farming methods.
B。
To start and lead the Green Revolution。
C. To contribute to high—yield short—stem wheat.
D. To do as much as he could to help farmers there.
33。

water ad energy B. climate change
C。
agriculture D. meat
34。
________ can help farmers take care of fields, reduce waste and improve agricultural productivity.
A. Plant breeding,chemical fertilization,pest control, and irrigation
B. Genetic engineers and seafood farms
C. Sensors,drones,and robots
D. The World Bank
35. What is the best title of this article?

Green Revolution.

D. Green revolution and Norman Borlaug
