Research shows that humans change from selfish to unselfish behavior when they are watched. Do you?
A picture of set of eyes on a computer screen can cause a change in the way people act. Even images of eyes on a charity donation(捐献), collection box encourage people to be unselfish, because people put more money in a collection box that has a picture of eyes on it than they do when a flower symbol is on the box.
Manfred Milinski from the Max-planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Germany and Bettina Rockenbach of the University of Berlin, the authors of a new study, found that people act better when they are being watched because they feel they will be rewarded( 回报) for good behavior. Their report also referred to other research showing that this response(反应) of behaving well when watched is somehow coded into humans and people respond this way unconsciously, or without realizing it.
It is not just humans that act unselfish when they are being watched. A fish called the grooming fish cleans other fish. When other fish are around, it is gentler. When no other fish are around, however, the grooming fish bites chunks from the fish it is supposed to be cleaning.
The researchers suggest that the best way to get people to behave in the correct way is to make them feel watched. This could be the reason for the success of a famous American army poster(海报). On it was a picture of an elderly man staring fiercely
and pointing , it appeared to the person who was looking at the poster. Under the picture was the caption (标题) “I Want You”. It encouraged hundreds of thousands of young American men to join the army during the Second World War to fight the Germans and Japanese..

“Look! Here come UFOs!” At around 8 p.m., July 26, 2010,a citizen called Lu Shan spotted this special phenomenon in Leshan, Sichuan: three unidentified and bright objects appeared in the sky above “Jade International” building, and then disappeared all together after 10 more minutes.
The phenomenon caught a lot of attention of some experts and Leshan citizens. On August 3, Professor Wang Sichao from the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences said, the objects still need to be identified under a comprehensive analysis. And Lu Shan captured some photos of it too. He described, the objects first lit up the sky in the west, but lasted for about 10 minutes , they moved slowly at a speed of 1 meter per minute to the north, and became smaller and smaller until they disappeared. “It was like a sunset before they faded, and their light also became so gentle as the sunset.”
Some citizens doubted they were UFOs, but Lu Shan thinks it was possibly caused by the refraction of the sunlight. However,Lu found no scientific proof to support this special phenomenon after comparing with his photos.
According to Professor Wang Sichao, it could be the “sun dog (幻日)” which
is an atmospheric phenomenon that creates bright spots of light in the sky, often in a bright ring or halo(光环) on either side of the sun. But he also added the sky above Leshan city that night did not satisfy the conditions to have “sun dog”.“Sun dog”usually happens in cold areas, such as the north and south poles of the earth. “So this phenomenon was strange,” said Wang Sichao. Wang
also stated he’s only able to confirm(证实) the identity of the objects after collecting and analyzing more information and photos snapped (快拍)from different locations and then decide on a more scientific explanation.
