Binet and Simon developed the Binet-Simon Intelligence Test in 1905.
The Test was primarily used for children’s intellectual ability. The child’s intelligence could compare to other kids of the same age by Binet-Simon Intelligence Test.
3. Tests of Intellectual Ability
3.1 Binet-Simon Intelligence Test
It included items designed to measure ability to follow instructions, to exercise judgement, and to solve a wide variety of problems. The final version contained 54 items arranged in order of difficulty, from following the movement of a lighted match with the eyes, through pointing to named parts of the body and counting backwards from 20, to working out what time a clock face would show if the hour and minute hands swapped places. Also called the Binet scale, though this is unfair to Simon, who played a major part in its development. See also mental age, Stanford-Binet intelligence scale.
3. Tests of Intellectual Ability
3.3 Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale
The WAIS-IV was the currentbtests and 5 supplemental subtests. 5 supplemental subtests were used for the special circumstances.
2.2 Validity
Validity refers to the extend to which a test surveys what it is claimed to measure in psychometry. The Validity reflected the measuring what the test was supposed to measure.
2.Essential Concept of a Psychological Test
Types of Reliability
Test-retest reliability is detected through the correlation co efficient between two operations of the same measurement. The test-retest measure of evaluating a test’s reliability is administering the test to the same sample twice or repetitions.
Terman revised and added new items in the test, and it used the intelligence quotient reflected the intelligent level.
3. Tests of Intellectual Ability
Split-half reliability is estimated by seeing about relationship between half the items and the other half items.
2.Essential Concept of a Psychological Test
In the subtests of the WAIS, it includes the verbal comprehension test, similarities test, information test, comprehension test, perceptual reasoning test, block design test, matrix reasoning test, visual puzzles test, picture completion test, figure weights taste, letter-number sequencing test and digit span test, arithmetic test, processing speed test, symbol search test.

3. Tests of Intellectual Ability
3.1 Binet-Simon Intelligence Test
Alfred Binet was a French psychologist best remembered for developing the first widely used intelligence test, often known as the Binet-Simon test. The test originated after the French government commissioned Binet to create an instrument that could identify school kids who needed remedial studies. With his collaborator Theodore Simon, they created the Binet-Simon Intelligence Scale.
Wechsler’s Intelligence Scale is based on his intelligence theory. Wechsler claimed that the general intelligence was composed of specific elements, including various specific and interrelated functions.
In the score of the intelligence tests, the Wechsler’s Scale was not found on the mental age and chronological age. The Wechsler’s Scale compared the scores of the subject to the other’s scores of the same age group. IQ=100+15Z
The WAIS-IV includes the perceptual reasoning index, the working memory index, the processing speed index and the verbal comprehension index. The full scale IQ and the general ability index scores are the broad scores in the WAIS-IV.
3. Tests of Intellectual Ability
3.2 Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales
The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales originated by psychologist Binet in France. The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales was revised by Lewis Terman at Stanford University in the USA in 1916.
2.Essential Concept of a Psychological Test
2.3 Standardization
Standardized test refers to the test is administered under uniform conditions, no matter when, where, to or by whom it is given. Standardization implies the measurement conditions should be the same for everyone.
1、Introduction
Psychological assessment is a process of evaluating an individual’s psychological functioning and mental processes.
The purpose of psychological assessment is to understand a person’s psychological strengths and weaknesses, diagnose mental health conditions, make treatment recommendations, and guide interventions.
2.Essential Concept of a Psychological Test
2.1 Reliability
Reliability refers to the extend to which a test is consistency and repeatable. The test is reliable if the test is consistent, reproducible and stability. The reliability reflected the measuring something consistently.
3.3 Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is designed for assess intelligence for adults. Later, Wechsler developed Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children(aged from 6 to 16 years old).
