五.One possible version:
Dear Sir or Madam,
I noticed your advertisement that you would organize a winter camp in A merica during the winter holiday. I am writing to apply for admission.
I am quite good at English and I can always get good marks in the e xam, but I know clearly that it’s far from enough especially when I hav
e no chance to communicate with English speakers at school. And this win
ter camp will be an excellent opportunity for me to talk with native spea
kers as well as know the western culture better. By the way, how much sh
ould I pay for the camp? And I am really concerned about the accommodat
ion-will I live in the dormitory or with host families?
I’d appreciate it if you take my application into consideration and I am looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely yours,

W: Oh. You don’t remember you haven’t returned it to me?

W: How about eating out tonight?
M: That’s a good idea. Do you like French food?
W: Good. I’d love to.
Text 3
W: Excuse me. Can you show me where the nearest bus stop is? I want to go to the airport. M: I’m afraid that it’s too far away from here. I think you’d better take a taxi. W: OK. Thank you.

M: Thank you. Would you give me some advice on this paper? Oh, what a nice, lovely room it is!

M: Hello, Rosa. Welcome back! How was your holiday?
W: Hi, Karl. The holiday has been good. I couldn’t believe how quickly the time went. I was away for three weeks, but it seemed like three days.
M: Where did you go?
W: Well, first, we flew to Sydney, then to Perth. We then left Australia and had a stop in Singapore for a day before flying back to Beijing.
M: Wow, you almost went around the world! Where was your favourite place?
W: It’s hard to say. Each place had something different and exciting to offer us.
M: Did you meet any Australian people?
W: Well, actually, we were lucky enough to stay with an Australian family. I now have an Australian friend about the same age as me. Her name is Catherine.
Text 10
M: Barbara Jones is my best friend. We’re both from Chicago, but now I live in San Francisco and Barbara lives in Atlanta. We don’t see each other very often, but we’re in touch all the time. I often write to Barbara and tell her about all the things that are happening in the Ajax Company. I’m the office manager there. And she often writes to me about her work at the Valley Hospital. She’s a doctor there.
We talk on the phone once a week -- either on Saturday or Sunday morning. There are also other ways we communicate with each other. Sometimes I call her on her car phone, or we send e-mails to each other. We’re really lucky. In this new age of communication, there are so many ways we keep in touch with each other. We live in different cities on different coasts, but we’re in touch all the time.。
