The best way to learn about space isby sending rockets, satellites, and even people up there to explore!China has been doing some really neat space stuff lately. They've sent lots of rockets and satellites into orbit around Earth to study our planet and the space around it. Some of these satellites take awesome pictures of Earth from way up high. Others help scientists learn about the weather, climates, and environments in different parts of the world.But that's not all China has done in space! They've also sent robotic rovers to explore the Moon and even Mars. These rovers are like little cars that can drive around on other worlds and take pictures and collect samples of rocks and soil. Isn't that wild? Imagine an alien rover rolling around and exploring Earth!On the Moon, China has landed a few different rovers like Yutu and Yutu-2. These rovers have studied the lunar surface in great detail, analyzing the rocks and soil there. They've even grown some plants using soil from the Moon! The first seedlings ever grown from Moon dirt were Chinese cotton seeds. How cool is that?As for Mars, China's first rover there was called Zhurong. It landed in a huge rocky basin on Mars in 2021 and immediately got to work studying the red planet. Zhurong used all its fancyinstruments to examine the Martian environment and look for any signs that there may have been life on Mars long ago when the planet was warmer and wetter.But China's biggest space accomplishment so far has been with the Tiangong space stations. Tiangong means "Heavenly Palace" and it's a small space station orbiting Earth where astronauts can live and work for months at a time. The first piece of Tiangong was launched in 2011 and more pieces have been added over the years to make it bigger.The latest and largest piece is the Tianhe core module which went up in 2021. Several other smaller modules have been attached to Tianhe to create more living and working areas. Tianhe even has a cute little robotic arm named Da Vinci that astronauts control to grab onto visiting vehicles and move equipment around outside the station.Over the past couple years, many Chinese astronauts called taikonauts have taken turns living aboard Tiangong for stretches of 6 months or so. While there, they conduct all sorts of experiments in the microgravity environment of space, test out new technologies, and even grow crops and food to see if we could grow fresh food on a long space journey someday.One of the most amazing Tiangong crews was the Shenzhou-13 mission in 2021-2022. The three taikonauts on that mission, Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu, spent an incredible 6 months living and working in space! That was the longest any Chinese astronauts had ever spent in space at one time before.During their mission, Wang Yaping did the first ever live educational lectures from space beamed to students all across China. She demonstrated fun physics concepts and experiments in the microgravity of Tiangong. Over 60 million students tuned in to watch! Yepu Guangfu also did two spacewalks where he ventured outside of Tiangong to test technologies and equipment while attached to the station by a long tether.Pretty incredible, right? China has accomplished so much with their space program in just the past 10-15 years or so. And they're not done yet - there are lots more exciting space missions planned in the years ahead!Next up, China is working on completing the full Tiangong space station by adding some more modules over the next couple years. Once done around 2024 or so, the fully assembled Tiangong will be about one-fifth the size of the big InternationalSpace Station but still a massive orbiting lab for Chinese taikonauts.China also has its sights set on returning to the Moon before too long. They plan to launch some uncrewed missions in the late 2020s to collect more samples from the lunar surface and even start building a basic research station on the Moon! The ultimate goal is to eventually send Chinese astronauts to explore the lunar surface themselves in the 2030s.As for Mars, there are more rovers planned as well as an ambitious sample return mission currently targeted for sometime in the early 2030s. This would involve launching a complicated series of rockets and spacecraft that would collect rock and soil samples from Mars, launch them off the planet's surface, and bring them back to Earth so scientists can study real Martian material up close in their labs.Other exciting Chinese space goals include exploring asteroids and even landing a probe or two on some of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn later this century. Human beings have never ceased their exploration of the universe. In fact, the cases of witnessing UFO landing or even a direct contact with extraterrestrials have always drawn great public attention.
In 1967, a group of scientists noticed strange radio signals from space.
