The Best Holiday Ever
Holidays are the best time of the year! I love when school is out and I can just relax and have fun. My favorite holiday is definitely summer vacation because it's super long and the weather is awesome for doing all kinds of cool activities.
This past summer was the most amazing one yet. It started out with a huge bang - literally! My parents surprised me and my little brother by taking us to see the big fireworks show downtown for the 4th of July. We got to the park really early to get a good spot on the grass. While we waited for night to fall, we played frisbee and ate hot dogs, cotton candy, and ice cream. Yum!
When it finally got dark, the fireworks began. Bright colors exploded across the sky - reds, blues, greens, purples, you name it! Some looked like smiley faces while others looked like palms trees. The finale was the most incredible thing I've ever seen. Hundreds of fireworks went off all at once lighting up the whole
park. I've never heard such a loud noise either! The grand finale was definitely my favorite part.
After that kick-off, the rest of my summer was non-stop fun.
A few weeks later, my family went on a camping trip to the mountains. I loved sleeping in the tent, making s'mores over the campfire, and exploring the hiking trails. We saw a deer, rabbit, and even a bear from a safe distance! I also went swimming in the lake and made a new friend at the campground who taught me how to skip rocks.
Another highlight was going to summer camp for two weeks.
I was a little nervous at first being away from home, but I ended up having a total blast. We did so many activities like canoeing, archery, rock climbing, arts and crafts, and more. My favorite was defiitely the talent show at the end where I performed a hilarious comedy skit with my bunkmates. I made so many new friends from all over and we still keep in touch.
When I wasn't going on adventures, I spent lots of time hanging out with my neighborhood friends too. We had huge waterballoon fights to cool off from the summer heat. We played basketball and kickball games at the park pretty much every day. We even earned some money from running a lemonade stand. Late nights we'd go on camping trips in our backyards, roast
marshmallows, and stargaze before bed. Those were some of the most fun times just being silly kids.
By the time summer was over, I had made so many amazing memories that I'll never forget. While I do love going to school and learning new things, I definitely cherish my holiday breaks. They allow me to recharge, explore the world around me, and make awesome memories with my friends and family. I already can't wait for next summer!

The Holidays are the Best Time of the Year
School holidays are definitely the best time of the whole year!
I always get so excited when they are coming up. No more waking up super early, no more homework, and no more sitting at desks all day long. The holidays mean freedom!
My favorite holiday of the year is definitely Christmas break. I love all the decorations and lights that go up around town. Everything looks so pretty and festive. At my house, we always get a big tree and decorate it with all our favorite ornaments. We have ornaments that me and my siblings made when we were little that are pretty silly looking. But I wouldn't have it any other way!
My mom always bakes a ton of delicious Christmas cookies too. Sugar cookies shaped like trees and stars, gingerbread men, peanut butter blossoms - you name it, she makes it. The whole house smells amazing. I definitely sneak a few cookies from the kitchen before they get put out for Santa!
Speaking of Santa, I still believe in him. All my friends say he isn't real, but they're just trying to act too grown up if you ask me. How else could presents get delivered to every single house in the whole world in one night? My big brother says he's seen our dad putting out the presents before, but I think he's just saying that to try to get me to stop believing. Well, it's not going to work!
On Christmas morning, we all wake up super early to see what Santa brought. My parents try to get us to wait until like
8am, but we always end up waking them up by 6. I can't help it, I'm just too excited! After we see what Santa brought, we have a big Christmas breakfast with pancakes, eggs, sausage, the works.
Later on Christmas day we go over to my grandma's house. All my aunts, uncles, and cousins come too. We have a huge dinner with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, all the trimmings. It's always funny to watch the adults getting fussy with each other,
while all the kids just run around hyper from all the sugar we ate from Christmas candy.
After Christmas, my second favorite holiday is Spring Break. Around that time, the weather has finally gotten nice after the cold winter. It's warm enough to go play outside without wearing a million layers! Me and my friends like to have water balloon fights in the yard, or go to the park and play on the swings and slides. Sometimes we'll take a picnic lunch if our parents will pack us one.
For Spring Break, our family usually takes a trip somewhere fun too. A couple years ago we went to the beach for a week which was a blast. I had never seen the ocean before then. It was so big and blue! I loved playing in the waves and swimming in the warm water. We also went on a boat tour to look for dolphins. We saw a whole pod of them jumping out of the water! It was awesome.
Another year for Spring Break we went camping in the mountains. That was a lot of fun too, but in a totally different way than the beach. We hiked on trails and saw tons of cool plants, trees, and even some animals like deer. In the evenings we cooked hot dogs and smores over the campfire. I tried to teach
my little sister how to pitch a tent, but she kept messing it up and getting exasperated with me. Guess it's not as easy as it looks!
I wish holidays and breaks from school could last forever. Having to go back after they're over is such a bummer. But I try to look on the bright side - having fun times to look forward to getting out of school makes the time I do have to go a little easier. The holidays make the rest of the year worth it!

Holidays Are The Best!
Yay, it's time for holidays again! I love holidays so much. They are the best time of the year for me. During the school terms, I have to wake up early, go to classes, do homework, study hard and follow a ton of rules. But when holidays come around, I get to sleep in late, play video games all day, hang out with my friends and just have fun!
My favorite holiday is definitely the summer holiday. Schools are closed for around 2-3 months during the hot summer season. That's like an endless number of days to goof around and do whatever I want! My parents usually take me on a trip during summer too. Last year, we went to the beach and I had a blast building sandcastles, splashing in the waves and eating lots of
ice cream. This summer, we're planning a hiking trip to the mountains. I'm really excited to go camping, make s'mores over the campfire and explore the forests and streams. Hopefully I'll spot some cool animals like deer or eagles!
Winter holidays are fun too when we get a long break for Christmas and New Year's. I love decorating the Christmas tree with shiny ornaments and twinkling lights. Baking cookies and treats with my mom is one of my favorite traditions. On Christmas morning, I can't wait to rip open the colorfully wrapped gifts under the tree! Last year, I got the latest video game console that I'd been wanting forever. This year, I'm hoping for a new bike or maybe even a puppy! After opening presents, we have a huge feast with roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and all the trimmings. Then we take a food coma nap on the couch while watching funny Christmas movies. Winter break is awesome!
Even the shorter holidays are great though. For example, we get a nice long weekend for Thanksgiving in November. My grandparents come over and we stuff ourselves silly with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and more pies! I look forward to the Easter holiday weekend too when I get to go on an epic Easter egg hunt trying to find all the eggs filled with
candy and money that the Easter Bunny hid around the yard. That fuzzy bunny really hooks me up with loads of chocolates and sweets! Halloween is another quick one but so much fun to dress up in a crazy costume and go trick-or-treating for buckets of candy.
My friends and I always have big plans for our holiday breaks too. We set up lemonade stands or have neighborhood-wide water balloon fights on hot summer days. In winter, we go sledding and have massive snowball battles. Sometimes we put on talent shows or make horrible home movies just for laughs. Other times, we organize video game tournaments or sports competitions to see who's the best at our favorite games. We never get bored because there's so much freedom and time to be silly.
I cherish every single holiday no matter how short or long. They give me a wonderful break from the normal school routine to simply relax, be a kid and make amazing memories with my family and friends. Holidays make me happy and I can't wait for the next one to roll around. Three cheers for holidays - hip hip hooray!

Title: The Best Holiday Ever!
The holidays are always the best time of the year for me! I get to sleep in, play games all day, and spend time with my family. This past winter break was especially awesome because we went on a trip to the beach!
My mom and dad surprised us a few weeks before the holidays started. They told me and my little brother that we were going to take a family vacation to the beach. I was so excited! I had never been to the beach before, and I couldn't wait to see the ocean and play in the sand.
We left for our trip a few days after Christmas. It was a long drive, but my brother and I kept ourselves entertained by playing road trip games and watching movies on the tablet. When we finally arrived, I was amazed by how big and beautiful the ocean was. The water was a gorgeous blue color, and the waves crashed against the shore in a rhythmic pattern.
Our hotel room had a balcony that overlooked the beach, and we spent a lot of time sitting outside and taking in the fresh sea air. In the mornings, we would go for long walks along the shoreline, searching for seashells and watching the seagulls soar overhead.
But my favorite part of the trip was definitely playing in the ocean. The water was a little chilly at first, but once I got used to it, I had a blast jumping over the waves and letting them crash against my body. My brother and I built massive sandcastles and had fun burying each other in the sand. We even went boogie boarding one day, which was both terrifying and thrilling!
In the evenings, we would go out for delicious seafood dinners and then take leisurely strolls along the boardwalk. There were so many fun shops and activities to check out. One night, we even went mini-golfing at a cool pirate-themed course.
All too soon, our vacation came to an end, and it was time to head back home. I was sad to leave the beach behind, but I made so many wonderful memories that I'll cherish forever. It was definitely the best holiday ever, and I can't wait for our next family adventure!

My Wonderful Holiday Break
The holiday break is my favorite time of the year! I love getting a long vacation from school and having so much free time to do whatever I want. This past holiday break was especially awesome. I got to go on a really cool trip with my
family, spend lots of quality time with my friends, and I even learned some new skills. It was such an amazing experience that I'll never forget!
We kicked off the holiday by going on a fun family vacation. My parents surprised me and my little brother by taking us to Disney World in Florida! We've never been there before, so we were super excited. The drive from our house took forever, but it was worth it once we arrived at the parks. Everything was so magical and beautifully decorated for the holidays. We stayed at one of the Disney resorts right on the property, which was really convenient.
The first few days, we went to the Magic Kingdom park. It was absolutely incredible! We rode classic rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. My favorite was definitely the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - such a fun rollercoaster! We also got to see the amazing fireworks show at night. One evening, we even attended the special Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party after the park closed. We watched delightful holiday shows, saw magical Christmas lights everywhere, and I even got my picture taken with Mickey and Minnie all dressed up for Christmas!
After a few days at the Magic Kingdom, we spent some time at the other Disney parks too. Epcot was my mom's favorite because she loves trying foods from different countries. I really liked the incredible rides at Hollywood Studios, especially the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. My little brother's top pick was definitely Animal Kingdom because he's obsessed with animals and dinosaurs. We had an awesome time on rides like Expedition Everest and watching entertaining animal shows.
When we returned home from our trip, I got to spend lots of time just hanging out and relaxing with my friends. We would have sleepovers, visit the mall, or meet up at the park or movies. One day, a group of us went ice skating at the local rink which was so much fun! Another time, we all went sledding at the big hill in town after it snowed. My friend Jacob hit a tree and faceplanted in the snow - we all laughed so hard! Getting to chill with my best buds and do whatever we wanted with no school obligations was the best.
I even used some of my free time over the break to learn a new skill - coding! My uncle works as a computer programmer and he offered to teach me the basics of coding and creating simple websites and games. At first, I thought it sounded pretty
boring and geeky. But after a few lessons, I actually started finding it really cool and satisfying to make my own programs come to life! By the end of the holiday, I had coded a few
mini-games that my friends and I played together. I'm really grateful to my uncle for opening my eyes to the world of coding.
Overall, this holiday break was one I'll never forget. I got to experience so many awesome things - going to Disney World, spending quality time with friends and family, learning coding, and just having a ton of fun. As much as I do enjoy going to school, I'm already counting down the days until summer vacation when I can have another amazing holiday break! Experiences like these are what make being a kid so great.

My Awesome Summer Vacation
By Claude the 6th Grader
This summer was the best vacation ever! I had so much fun and did a ton of really cool stuff. First up was my family's trip to the beach. We went to this really awesome beach in Florida called Siesta Key. The sand was super soft and white, and the water was so blue and warm. I spent pretty much the whole time swimming, building sandcastles, and looking for cool shells. My
little sister kept trying to bury me in the sand, but I out-smarted her by partially burying myself first so she couldn't cover my whole body!
After the beach we went to Walt Disney World in Orlando. That place is honestly a kid's dream come true. We went to the Magic Kingdom first and I loved going on rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. I'm kind of a daredevil so all the roller coasters were my favorite. My parents weren't has big of fans though - I think they got a little nauseous from all the loops and drops!
The next day we went to Epcot, which was probably my second favorite Disney park. I'm a huge fan of science and technology, so I loved seeing all the cool exhibitions about space travel, energy, and the future of transportation. We also got to go on this crazy ride called Test Track where you get to design a virtual concept car and then "take it" on a test drive. It goes up to like 65 mph! My dad said it reminded him of his teenage years street racing (just kidding dad).
The last park we visited was Hollywood Studios, which was awesome for a movie buff like me. We got to go behind the scenes on a bunch of movie and TV show sets, see how they film action scenes with stunt doubles, and even attended a real live
taping of a sitcom! I'm already lobbying my parents to take me back to Hollywood Studios for my birthday so I can finally get a Lightsaber from the Star Wars land. A kid can dream, right?
After Disney World, we headed up to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousin in North Carolina. They live right near all these epic hiking trails in the Appalachian mountains, so we spent a few days going on some challenging but amazing hikes to place like Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, and Max Patch Bald. I love getting out in nature and pushing myself physically. The views from the peaks were just breathtaking too - you could see for miles and miles into the sprawling green mountains and valleys.
We also went whitewater rafting one day on the Nolichucky River. I have to admit, I was a little nervous at first with all the big rapids. But our river guide was super experienced and made me feel safe. We didn't end up flipping, but we came pretty close a few times! I screamed like a little kid on a roller coaster as we crashed through the waves. It was such an adrenaline rush though - I can't wait to go again.
On our last day, we visited the Biltmore Estate, which is this iconic huge mansion in Asheville with over 250 rooms! It was built by the super rich Vanderbilt family way back in the 1800s. Can you imagine having a house that enormous?! The gardens
and grounds were just as impressive as the mansion itself. We strolled around for hours admiring all the fountains, sculptures, and carefully manicured plants and trees from all over the world.
I felt like I had traveled back in time to when American aristocrats lived like kings and queens.
Well, that about sums up my awesome summer adventures! Between the beach, Disney World, hiking in the mountains, whitewater rafting, and touring a Gilded Age mansion, it was the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. I have so many incredible memories from this trip that I'll never forget. School starts back up in a few weeks, but this epic summer vacation will keep me pushing through another year of homework, tests, and early mornings. A kid couldn't ask for。
