Happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads in their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your
lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get a success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice a bit of them, you can see that happiness is always around you.
Happiness doesn’t mean money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something that can’t be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge yourself. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving(旋转的)door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.
28. When you do something wrong, people around you will .
A. quarrel with you
B. give you a big hand
C. do something wrong like you
D. laugh at you
29. What will your friends say when you make great progress?
A. Oh, so do I
B. Congratulations!
C. Good luck!
D. Just so-so
30. Which of the following is NOT true according to the last passage?
A. People who have cars would never like to walk in the open air.
B. You can get help from others when you are in trouble.
C. You can still be a happy person even if you have little money.
D. Happiness is always around you though difficulties come towards you.
31. What does the underlined sentence mean in the last paragraph?
A. parents always care for our life and health .
B. we’re not happy if we meet with difficulties
C. when you meet something bad,you can get the another good chance
D. happiness is always for everyone .

Since I started working part-time at a grocery store, I have learned that a customer is more than someone who buys something. To me, a customer is a person whose memory fails entirely once he or she starts to push a shopping cart(购物手推车). One of the first things customers forget is how to count. There is no other way to explain how so many people get in their express line, which is clearly marked 15 items or less, with 20, 25 or even a cart load of items.
Customers also forget why they came to the store in the first place. Just as I finish ringing up an order, a customer will say, “Oops, I forgot to pick up a fresh loaf of bread. I hope you don’t mind waiting while I go to get it.” Five minutes later, he’s back with the bread, a bottle of milk, and three rolls of paper towels. What is stranger is that customers also seem to forget that they have pay for their groceries. Instead of writing a check or looking for a credit card while I am ringing up the groceries, a customer will wait until I announce the total. Then, in surprise, she says, “Oh no, what did I do with my check book?” After 5 minutes of digging through her purse, she borrows my pen because she’s forgotten hers. But I have to
tolerate customers because they pay my salary, and that’s something I can’t afford to forget.
32. What does the author say about his customers?
A. They cannot count numbers
B. They sometimes jump the queue.
C. They don’t know how to express themselves.
D. They behave as if their memories have totally failed.
33. According to the text, who are supposed to be in the express line?
A. Customers with nothing bought.
B. Customers with not more than 15 items.
C. Customers with items between 15 and 25.
D. Customers with 25 or even a cart load of items.
34. When customers arrive at the check-out counter, they _____.
A. find their pens lost
B. go back and get more items
C. cannot wait to pay for their groceries
D. prefer paying by check to paying by a credit card
35. We can infer from the text that _____.
A. business in the grocery store runs well
B. the author finds his present job full of fun
C. the author’s part-time job calls for patience
D. customers go to grocery stores without planning

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
How to Be Creative
Most of us think that creativity is a quality belonging only to artists, writers, or dancers, rather than ourselves. 36.The following tips are a great beginning for developing our creativity.
1. Get out of your comfort zone
We eagerly accept the familiar and fear the unknown. Break out of your usual patterns and welcome creativity into your life. As stated earlier, the human brain was designed to recognize patterns. 37.In fact, our comfort zone is nothing more than a collection of patterns. As we become more efficient at recognizing and using patterns, we rely less on creativity to find new paths. We should force ourselves out of our comfort zones and open up new possibilities.
2. Try different things
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. We are creatures of habits and routines, and creativity hates routines. If you usually drive to work, take the subway for a few days. 38. Interrupt your routine, experiment and try something new. New things are often creative, but the same old thing never is.
39.
Having a great idea is not enough, you must take action to make it a reality. Have you ever seen a new product and realized that you thought of the same thing long ago?
Yet someone else is making money with “your” idea. 40.The difference between a dreamer and a doer is action. Do whatever it takes to bring your ideas to life. If
you can put them into practice, you are well on your way to improving your creativity
in all areas of your life.
A. Take action
B. Seek several options
C. Think from the other person’s point of view.
D. If you normally eat in the office, have lunch under a tree.
E. The truth is that we are all born with the capacity to be creative.
F. We continue to create patterns and paths for almost everything we do.
G. We all have great ideas sometimes, but only a few people turn their ideas into reality.

Text 10
London Chinatown has been there since 1950s, when some Chinese set up businesses on Gerrard Street. Most of the businesses were restaurants to cater for the British soldiers sent back from the Far East after the war. The popularity of the restaurants grew, and more Chinese made way to the same area to open their businesses up. During the1960s, Chinatown was then established as its very own community.
A part of this Chinatown started back in 1666 when London was destroyed by a fire; this left the town just mostly with farmland. It was basically a new place to build upon. The area that the modern Chinatown now rests upon was once a military training ground. In 1677, governor Gerrard gave a developer, Nicholas Barbon permission to build housing here. Gerrard Street was completed with housing and everything in 1685. He then acquired more land on the east side of the street. This is where he built a new market hall. The site still stands in the present day on Newport Court.。
