Nowadays many people have to work very hard in order to live a better life. And the harder they work, the less they pay attention to their health. But it’s very important for us to keep healthy in our everyday life. Here are some ways for you to follow.
First, you should have a he althy diet. It’s necessary to eat enough fish and vegetables, as they contain many kinds of vitamin you need every day. Do not eat too much fat, such as butter or anything too fatty. Too many sweets can do harm to your teeth, so you’d better not eat too many sweets or chocolates and keep off coffee.

If you don’t use a dictionary. What should you do instead? The first thing you can do is trying to guess what the word means. Often the surrounding context gives a very clear idea of the meaning of the word. Even if you can’t work out the meaning exactly, you may be able to get a vague idea, enough to enable you to continue reading.
Sometimes it is impossible to guess the meaning of a word from the context and then you will have to decide whether the word is important enough to make it worthwhile stopping and looking it up in a dictionary or whether you can just pass it by.
Many times in your reading, you will e across words which you don’t know, but which do not prevent you from understanding all the main points of the text. You can make your dictionary used much more efficiently if you only look up the words which are necessary to understand the text and this means that you must develop the skill to decide whether the words are worth looking up.
25.The passage mainly tells us in our reading what we would do .
A.without knowledge of English B.when we look up words in a dictionary
C.when we are guessing new words D.without using a dictionary
26.Wh at does the underlined word“vague”mean?
A.mysterious. B.not clear. C.exact. D.important.
27.In our reading some words we don’t know.
A.help us to understand the surrounding context well
B.don’t prevent us understanding the main points of the text
C.will be remembered forever
D.are borrowed from other languages
28.In this passage the writer .
A.advised us to use the dictionary as much as possible
B.told us not to be discouraged when we use a dictionary in our English study.

Last year I had a wonderful experience. I went on a student exchange to Japan. It was an exciting time of my life and I learned many things about the school system in Japan. I was in Grade 11, which is second year of high school in Japan, but I was younger than most of my classmates. That’s because Japanese children enter first year of elementary school in April following their sixth birthday. I started school when I was still five years old.
In Japan, Children attend elementary school for six years, where they study Japanese, arithmetic, science, social studies, music, crafts, physical education, and home economics (simple cooking and sewing skills). During their three years in middle school, English is added to this list. Most schools have access to puters and the Internet.
The classes in my school seemed rather big to me, around 30 students in a typical high school class. We ate lunch in the classroom, instead of a cafeteria and enjoyed a healthy, nutritious meal prepared by the school or by a local “school lunch centre” instead of eating the same, dry sandwiches every day. I really like the Japanese interpretation of school lunches. I also enjoyed the field trips and activities. At Japanese schools, there are many school events during the year, such as field day when students pete in tug-of-war, field trips, and arts and cultural festivals.
29. The writer went to Japan _____ last year.
A. to visit his family members
B. to finish his high school there
C. to study as an exchange student
D. to do research on school system in Japan
30. Children in Japan may start their elementary school at the age of ____.
A. 5
B. 6
C. 7
D. 11
31. In the writer’s country, students probably _____.
A. have lunch in the classroom
B. have different lunch every day
C. have lunch at home
D. have sandwiches for lunch

Around 55%of people aged 18—34 in Spain are still living in their parents’ homes. The Spanish Government is so worried that it has decided to help them leave the nest.To persuade
young people to leave their homes, the Youth Institute started a“Youth Emancipation(解放)”program this month, which offers guidance in finding rooms and jobs.
Economists say young people’s family dependence is caused by job-loss and the increasing housing prices.
Cultural reasons also lead to the problem, say sociologists.Family ties in south Europe-Italy,Portugal and Greece-are stronger than those in middle and north Europe, for example,Finland. In Spain, especially in the countryside,it is mon to find entire groups of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews all living on the same street. They regularly get together for Sunday dinner.
Parents’ tolerance(宽容)is another reason.Spanish parents accept late-night partying and are careful of setting bedtime rules.“A child can arrive home at whatever time he wants. If parents are dissatisfied with him,he’ll put up a big fight and call the fath er a Fascist(法西斯),”a sociologist at Carlos University in Madrid said.
Mothers’ willingness to do everything for children worsens the problem.Dionisio Masso,a 60-year-old woman in Madrid, has three children in their 20s.The eldest,28,has a girlfriend and a job.But life with mum is good.“His mum does the wash and cooks for him;in the end,he lives well,”Masso said.
32.The“Youth Emancipation”program aims at helping young people_________.
A.fight for freedom B.live on their own
C.fight against Fascism D.get rid of family control 33.According to the passage, family ties are stronger in Portugal than in ________.A.Finland B.Greece C.Spain D.Italy 34.The following are the reasons for young people’s family dependence EXCEPT_____ A.parent’s tolerance B.cultural traditions

选项中有两项为多余选项。

Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take the fact of friendship for granted, we often don’t clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people, 36 .
At the beginning, much depends on how people meet, and on good first impressions. As we get to know people, 37 . Although these factors are not of the greatest importance, it is more difficult to have a good relationship with people when there is a big difference in age and background.
Then, 38 . Friends will stand closer together and will spend more time looking at each other than ordinary friends. Smiles and soft voices also express friendliness, and it is because they may give the wrong signals that shy people often have difficulty making friends. A friendly look with a wrong facial expression can turn into an unfriendly stare, and nervousness may be wrongly understood as unfriendliness.
Some relationships are a result of argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have the same ideas and beliefs, the same opinion and interests. The more closely involved people bee, the more they depend on each other. And 39 . Equally, friends have to learn to make allowances for each other, to put up with annoying habits, and to accept differences in opinion.
In contrast with marriage, 40 . But the support and understanding that results from shared experiences and affections does seem to create a close and lasting relationship.
A. we are usually friends with only a few
B. many factors can affect friendship and relationship
C. people want to do friends favors and hate to let them down
D. argument and discussion can improve personal relationships
E. we consider things like age, race, looks, economic and social status, etc
F. we pay attention to actual behavior, facial expression, and the way a person speaks
G. there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the relationship between two people

Dear_editor,
I_am_writing_to_tell_you_about_what_I_saw_while_studying in the school.
I was surprised to see so many immoral behaviors in public places. Some people spit at will wherever they went; some scratched their names on the walls; others threw the rubbish here and there, which did harm to our school.
In my opinion, it’s high time we should take action to help improve the situation. First, certain rules should be made to ensure students won’t damage the environment. Second, teachers should also take responsibility to guide students to protect the environment. Last but not least, we are supposed to learn to be more responsible for what we did.
Only by working together can we make our school bee more and more beautiful!
Best_wishes!
Yours,
Li_Hua。
