22.(8分)LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (Xinhua)—Legendary comic book writer Stan Lee has died at the age of 95, according to media reports on Monday.
Lee, born in Stanley Lieber on Dec. 28th, 1922, began his career in 1939 and joined the Marvel Comics in 21.
He is considered as one of the most legendary names in the history of comic books and the leading creative force behind the rise of Marvel Comics. He co-created iconic fictional characters such as Spider-Man, X-Men, the Avengers, and many more.
Lee’s characters often have super powers, but they also have weaknesses. They were humans, not gods. They not only struggled to save the world, but also to pay their bills, make friends, and hold jobs. This made Marvel comic book heroes stand apart from its competitor DC, which produced the seemingly perfect heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. Those superheroes have been adapted into blockbuster films, most of which were made after Disney acquired Marvel in a 4-billion-dollar deal in 2009.
In a statement, Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company said Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created.
Marvel also praised Lee on its website by putting on one of Lee’s famous quotes, which goes, “I used to be embar rassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain, you’re doing a good thing. ”
Praise from his Hollywood peers and colleagues was generous. President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige appreciated Lee’s unparalleled impact on the industry. “No one has

(8分)Japan has long been known for both its strong traditions and being on the 23.
cutting edge of technology, and this new inn combining the classic Japanese surroundings with high-tech slippers and furniture is a perfect reflection of this.
Nissan Motor Co. developed a system in which slippers park themselves at the entrance of the traditional inn, called “ProPilot Park Ryokan,” waiting for guests to use them upon arrival. When guests have finished using them, the slippers will drive themselves back to their original position. Each slipper features two tiny wheels, a motor, and sensors to drive it across the wooden floor.
The same technology features in Nis san’s all-battery electric Leaf car. High-tech
sensors and cameras allow the vehicle to safely back into parking spaces without any input from the driver. Four cameras and 12 sensors assess the vehicle’s surroundings. ProPilot Park handles the accelerator, braking and steering (转向) input when the car is parking. Drivers operate the system with the press of a button, which they must hold down the entire time. Lifting a finger off the button will result in the car stopping immediately.
The inn, located in the resort town of Hakone, about 75 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, is currently most famous for its view of Mount Fuji. However, the new
self-driving slippers, released by Nissan in March, is the unique feature of the high-tech inn.
“The self-parking slippers are meant to raise awareness of automated driving technologies, and their potential, non-driving applications,” Nissan spokesman Nick Maxfield said in a statement.

D.To promote non-driving technologies.
4、What can we know about the inn mentioned in the text?

B.It is famous for its good service.

24.(8分)The popular wisdom for years has been that drinking in moderation
(适度)—that’s one “standard” drink a day for women and two for men-is linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular (心血管的) disease. But recent studies are casting some doubt on that long-held learning. Science now says it depends on your age and drinking habits.
A 2013 study of nearly 2 million British with no cardiovascular risk found that there was still a modest benefit in moderate drinking, especially for women over 11 who drank five drinks a week. Why that age? Alcohol can influence the substance in the blood in positive ways, experts say, and that’s about the age when heart problems begin to occur.
Also, a 2014 study found that drinking more than 100 grams of alcohol per week—equal to roughly seven standard drinks in the United States or five to six glasses of wine in the UK—increases your risk of death from all causes and in turn lowers your life expectancy. Links were found with different forms of cardiovascular disease, with people who drank more than 100 grams per week having a higher risk of stroke, heart failure.
Another 2014 study found that consistently drinking a moderate amount of alcohol, within recommended guidelines, had a protective effect on the heart over time. Unstable drinking habits were associated with a higher risk of heart disease, which the authors reflected might indicate broader lifestyle changes, such as poor health or stress. Former drinkers were also at greater risk.
Overall, however, the latest thinking is that any heart benefit may be outweighed by other health risks, such as high blood pressure, certain cancers and liver damage.
Women who drink are at a higher risk for breast cancer; alcohol contributes about 2% of the overall risk, possibly because it raises certain dangerous hormones in the blood. Drinking can also increase the chance you might develop liver, mouth and oral cancers. One potential reason: Alcohol weakens our immune systems, making us more likely to inflame (发炎)—a driving force behind cancer.
1、Why does moderate drinking benefit women over 11?
A.It helps them live longer than men.
B.It reduces the chance of some heart problems.
C.It destroys the harmful chemicals in their blood.
D.It helps them recover from cardiovascular disease.
2、What can we learn from paragraph 3?
A.Drinking more than 10 grams of alcohol per week is surely harmful.
B.Solid links were found between the disease and the amount of alcohol.
C.The lifespan varies according to amount of consumed alcohol.
D.Seven standard drinks are the recommended amount of drinking in the UK.
3、Who will be at a lower risk according to the 2014 study?
A.Consistent drinkers with lifestyle changes.
B.Unstable drinkers with lifestyle changes.
C.Consistent drinkers within recommended amount of alcohol.
D.Unstable drinkers within recommended amount of alcohol.
4、Which can be the best title for the text?
A.Moderate drinking habits benefit the heart.
B.Moderate drinking weakens our immune systems.
C.Moderate drinking can prevent cancer.
D.Moderate drinking does more harm than good to health.
25.(10分)All over the world mothers and fathers teach their children manners. Other children may have manners that are not like yours. There are all kinds of manners.
Many years ago, children who had good manners were seen and not heard. They kept quiet if grown-ups were talking. Today, well-mannered children have more freedom.
Sometimes good manners in one place are bad manners in other places. Suppose you are a visitor in the land of Mongolia. Some friends ask you to eat with them. What kind of manners do they want you to have? They want you to give a loud “burp(打嗝)” after you finish eating. Burping would show that you like your food. In some countries, if you give a loud burp, you are told to say “Excuse me, please.” In many places people like to eat together. But in some parts of Polynesia it is bad manners to be seen eating at all. People show good manners by turning their backs on others while they eat. What are manners like in an East African town? The people try not to see you. They are being polite. You may see a friend. He may not see you at all. If you are polite, you will sit down beside him. You will wait until he finishes what he is doing. Then he will talk to you. Suppose you visit a friend in Arabia. Y ou should walk behind the other tents until
you come to his tent. If you pass in front of the other tents, you will be asked into each one. The people will ask you to eat with them. And it is bad manners if you say no.
Manners are different all over the world. But it is good to know that all manners begin in the same way. People need ways to show that they want to be friends.
1、How did polite children behave?
A.By looking into adults’ eyes while talking
B.By keeping silent while adults were talking
C.By slipping into the house without being heard
D.By not opening their mouths until spoken to
2、Which custom should we follow in order to look well-mannered?
A.Saying “Excuse me” on burping in Mongolia
B.Inviting guests to dinner together in Polynesia
C.Talking with a friend before he completes things in East Africa
D.Accepting an eating invitation in Arabia
3、What can we infer from the text?
A.Hear much, speak little
B.Love me, love my dog
C.When in Rome do as the Romans do
D.Do what you ought to and come what can
